Do they conduct interviews every week?
Also can we pick out interview date? Does it look bad if we postpone it until the last week of September?

They schedule interviews on Mondays and Tuesdays weekly. I'm sure they would have no problem scheduling you for a date that works for you. They know people are coming from all over
 
yeah I couldn't do a tuesday because of my paramedic class, so only monday's were good for me and the first available monday was the 28th of september. They had no problem giving me that day.

Hey guys...is it possible to do a specialty residency or does the school largely limit itself to primary care?
 
Has anyone with an II or acceptance taken the new MCAT? If so, what were your scores if you don't mind sharing. 🙂

There is a good chance that you will not get ortho. I hope that you're not one of those ortho or bust dudes.

Are you saying there is a good chance they won't get ortho regardless of the school because it is so competitive? Are you saying they won't get it because of attending CUSOM?

Just curious

You can, theoretically, get whatever specialty you want no matter where you go to school. In reality, it depends on your board scores, possibly your audition rotations, and how many places you try to match at.

Since CUSOM hasn't matched any students yet, it's also impossible to answer this question accurately. Also, you never know when looking at a Match list if it's representative of the schools strengths in placing people into their first choice specialty, or if it is indicative of people only going into primary care becUse they don't score as high on their boards.
 
I have arrived, anybody else interviewing tomorrow staying at the microtel?

Anyone know how long you have to accept once you get an offer?

In my opinion, you can do any residency you want to do - if you want it badly enough. Obviously, your options increase with your USMLE/COMLEX step scores. Also, many students do an elective clinical rotation (during 4th year) at the site they want to do their residency. This would be harder to do at Campbell since it is a new school. Nevertheless, totally possible if you are a proactive person. Just remember, you may think you want ortho now, but may change your mind later.
 
No secondary yet...? Verified July 31st. Website says a competitive MCAT begins at 24, but that's not a cut off is it? Have a 23 /:

I'm also waiting for a secondary. I think I've read of a few others waiting as well. I can't think of any reasons I would have been prescreened.... Unless they don't like my one 124 subsection.

How long did it take between receiving an original email and a call?

I definitely liked it more than both LECOM's. The staff was much more friendly and made you feel welcome. They really want their students to succeed. Also, the facilities are TOP notch. They have much better equipment and resources than LECOM. They also record their lectures, so that's a plus. Attendance and dress code is mandatory, but food is allowed in the lecture halls. The curriculum is systems based.

Be prepared for the interview though. Make sure you give thoughtful, mature answers. Don't memorize what you want to say at the interview. You have to be natural.

About one week (exactly 8 days) for me. They wanted to schedule for their first interview on the 17th, but I was too busy so I scheduled it a week after.

I always wonder how exactly you guys prepare for those interviews. I mean aside from researching the school and their mission. You never know what they will ask you or is there a certain trend or questions that are asked more frequently?? Just wondering as I'm still new to this whole gigantic, nerve wrecking medical school application process lol

I did a mock interview with one of my advisors last week. Also, if you search around on this website, you can get feedback on each school from students who interviewed there. That includes tons of example questions! (such as hardest question, most interesting question, etc). I've been going through those for each school and making sure I am comfortable with each. I'm not the type to try to memorize an answer, but if I've thought about the question and/or discussed it with my parents or a friend or something like that, I'm pretty comfortable answering in an interview-type setting. For some of the trickier questions, I'm jotting down a few bullet points to look over a few times, just so I don't forget anything major.

I haven't had an interview yet though, so I can't say how well this approach will work haha! I'm interviewing here this coming Monday, so I'll let you know after if I felt prepared!

I can't believe how quick that was. I started crying.

BTW, for anyone interviewing, this school was absolutely amazing. The facilities were top notch, the students were amazing, the faculty was so welcoming. It is still a little ways away from family and I have a few more interviews scheduled, but I honestly think that it is going to be very hard to beat this school.
Good luck to everyone, especially you underdogs out there!
