Class of 2021 . . . how ya doin?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Me.

Although, actually 2 of the 3 classes I took in my last semester were actually necessary requirements for me to graduate. The fact that they were easy was just a bonus.
But for the other class... I was like "Hmm, what sounds interesting that I can take online?" I was only half time that semester too so it was beautiful.

Same here! All the courses I'm taking are requirements but they're easy and interesting so I'm excited! Hopefully it'll make up for my senioritis haha

After getting into my dream school last week..... all my motivation has gone out the window lol..... and I have 3 exams this week (biochemistry, Physics II, animal breeding):arghh: but at least the pressure is off now. How have others handled this and what have you done the summer before vet school? Planning on working and saving some more money. Maybe working in an influenza lab and back home at a mouse embryology company... and starting to build on some lab animal experiences.

I'm struggling with the same thing! I heard back on Monday and since then I just keep looking into housing and reading vet student blogs lol I'm planning on having a relaxed summer filled with livestock shows, lake days, and hitting the bars with my friends. I only have a month and half of summer (thanks quarter system) so I have to make the most of it!

Hey class of 21 pilots: I'm making a prevet bucket list of things to do before vet school, and I'm looking to add some ideas. What are you all wanting to do before you go off into the wild blue yonder

the goal was to get him to visit us so we can make the drunk thread hella jealous

Oh okay, I think I got this.

@Bottle of Bear you should definitely visit Michigan. It's a Great (Lakes) state with many interesting things to do.
Except you should probably call me so we can coordinate and make sure I'm in a different part of the state while you're here.

Ski, was that better?

yes, was better

I love when I have a day off and I can lounge around in pajamas and read, all day long. I'm pretty sure 90% of my pre-school bucket list would just be to read more and put on real clothes less.
Yes. Yes to all of this.

I think that was almost the entirety of my pre-school bucket list

Other fun things happened with the extra year off, but they weren't really things I had bucket listed.

How would you guys hang out though? Finn would see Bear and then never say hi, and Ski would have to pretend not to know him so her mom wouldn't find out about her online alter-ego. You all are doomed.

This depends on what you like doing. I've been working through a list of books to read, working my way through TV shows I don't have time for, that kind of casual stuff. You probably have a long list of video games you've been meaning to get around to lol.

But in terms of actual fun bucket list stuff? Camping and hiking were way up there. I watched a meteor shower at 2 AM in the middle of nowhere. I went tubing and swam in a lake for the first time.

This summer I want to get some serious hiking in and also maybe take a road trip somewhere in the desert southwest. I'm pretty sure you're going to be moving a good distance when you move to vet school and I highly recommend road trips just so you're not driving 30 hours straight lol.

I liked digging up historic places and locales to visit and doing that.

Also, this has been on my bucket list for years (and you probably wouldn't be able to do it because it happens in the fall) but I'm going to see the elk bugling this year. Also I'm going to find a damned moose somewhere in one of the state parks (and also not get killed by it).

It wouldn't be an interview. So I wouldn't have to pretend to not know him. But that's only Mr. Hip Dude, @singhb09, who I pretend to not know.

That's basically all I've got down so far. Was thinking a road trip or two though, visit somewhere. Maybe take doggo

Hey @Bottle of Bear, you wanna know where there's lots of lakes? Michigan. You can go tubing here too. It's great fun.
Mountain lakes and tubing in our rivers that go through the mountains are way more fun than your mitten state.

But there are good lakes and good tubing spots almost everywhere if you look.

If you're ever looking for ideas PM me. I lived in AZ for about six years and have spent a lot of time in other places you may be driving through.

But also road trip destinations depend entirely on your interests. I think Yosemite would be awesome to visit (on my someday list) but have also been just as down to road trip to restaurants along Route 66 or just drive to the dumbest museums/roadside attractions I could find.

Oh but I also once went on a day trip with a friend to a state park and we ended up in a town that was literally one mile wide and everyone in the diner there knew we didn't belong and stared at us the whole time. I felt like I was in a Stephen King novel, so... I don't recommend that?

You know what else I liked doing? I would pick an Oscar year and try to pick up as many movies as possible from the nominations list and watch all of them. I used to do this with my sister as a fun day in and now it's just a really fun hobby of mine.

I also like picking one thing in town that I've never done/been to before and just doing that. This is how I ended up accidentally seeing The Fray at a music festival this summer.
That's a happy accident 😀

Something I haven't done yet here that I need to do is find a used/indy book store to hang out at for a while. There was one in Pittsburgh that I spent several hours at with my best friend and we left with like...10 books for less than $10

I love used bookstores! And just funky bookstores in general. There's a neat one on Pearl Street in Boulder that I love even though I feel like it's a huge fire hazard.

I also highly recommend antiquing. I've met some great people while antiquing.

WE HAVE BOTH. but I was suggesting tubing in Michigan. You get dragged behind a boat and whipped around and get tossed off the wake and if you have not experienced that, then THATS just sad.
I have done that and it's way less fun than real tubing.

Also, @Bottle of Bear, have you ever been kayaking or paddleboarding? You may try those too.

Antiquing is vaguely planned for some time in the near future! I've never done it before.
