Class of 2021 . . . how ya doin?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I feel bad for all of you, I have small bits of histo sprinkled in enough to keep it interesting and it hasn't eaten me alive yet. Come to think of it we've had pretty mild histo exposure up until now. I'm sorry guys, keep it up, almost done with this semester 😱😱😱😱😱

Our histo is sprinkled in too! We've had quite a bit of it in anatomy but it's not anything that hasn't been manageable. The horror stories I read on here about some of the schools courses got me like :nailbiting:

*cue continued comments about Davis being fluffy/not inflicting enough suffering* ( @Bottle of Bear for good measure)

(Although tbf we do our histo stuff this way, too, and I actually kinda like it...so maybe I should shut up in this case)

Yesterday we had our first practice exam before the real one next month. I wrote an entire essay and literally got zero points. I forgot some key points and reversed some tissue characteristics and generally just died on paper. Thank god it doesn't count and the next exam is all multiple choice but it was a new low for me. I guess I better get used to it :dead:
It makes me wish we have more exams--studying for everything all at once is so intimidating!

I was just contemplating how much has changed from a year ago. Last year was, "I'm so stressed, I'm barely holding on to my A and I might get a B in the class and that would be terrible" to "Eh, I'm passing".
when they mentioned that you had to have at least a 3.2 GPA to take spring first year electives, I straight up laughed. No electives for meeeee!😢

Oh yeah, I don’t feel bad about it, honestly. Just makes me chuckle
I wouldn't have done it myself anyway. I was much better prepared second year to take on more work. Second semester is harder imo just because I got so very apathetic and spring was in the air and I wanted to be out in it. haha

Oh man second semester was such a struggle for me. I think it took me two months to get out of winter break brain.

It definitely looks like a harder semester! I’m interested to see how the new anatomy teacher/ course.

Yeah, that will be interesting for sure. At least he has had some time to get his game plan together, just have to see if it works in actuality. lol

I looked at my calendar and in four weeks we are done with first semester. Blows my mind. But man, am I ready for winter break!

It is amazing how fast the time goes by. That is why I shake my head at people who have a dream school and want to spend so much extra money for that fleeting moment in time for an excruciating bill in the decades to come. I get the in the moment thought of happiness, but man.

I’m pretty sure I heard you. It took me a minute to process and then I was like, “Nope, HAH, joke”. I had a fleeting moment of feeling bad about it and then I saw the electives and they didn’t look the least bit appealing.

Ahaahahahaha oops. I’m not at a strong enough mental state to handle anything other than just by laughing. I laugh through the pain. I also pain laughed at the self care assessment too, if it makes it any better

Second semester of first year was by far the worst so far. I can’t imagine adding electives to that. Absolutely hell no from me. I’m doing five credits this semester and it’s nothing, even one last spring might have killed me.

Two quizzes away from Thanksgiving!

Side note: professors that have quizzes/ exams the week of thanksgiving so you can’t go home early are the worst. One of our profs told us that verbatim the first day of class. 🙁
What is this torture? Hang in there Egg, you're almost done!

One quiz done, one to go. Playing PetVet counts as studying, yes?? I’ve lost all motivation otherwise.

I’ve done everything I can think of to avoid studying for his quiz.
“I need to go to the store for a vacation feeder for my fish.” “Oh, hey, the tank needs a partial water change.” “Maybe I should search the internet for a cheap gravel cleaner to up the ante on my cleaning next time.” “Decorate for Christmas early? YES MA’AM.”

I PUT MY CHRISTMAS TREE UP TODAY!

Totally random, but you should let me know how that vacation feeder works out. I'm in the market lol

Hey @cheathac looks like I’m gonna be in your next of the woods this Saturday! My family’s dragging me to the Purdue-IU game.
WHOOOOOOO should be a good game! We need that win for a bowl game! I will be out of town but will probably be watching it

Say hello to my new furbaby Faline! (Off of bambi) She has been fantastic! I picked her up Sunday. She's been relatively calm for a husky, but I've been exercising her every day. She has been great with all of my family members and behaves fairly well. Knows sit, come, and we are working on down and stay. She understands no as well. She's very small at around 40 pounds and is 3 years old. She was pulling on the leash a lot, but I got her an easy walk harness today and wow what a difference. Hardly any pulling. I LOVE spoiling her. Buying her treats and toys and taking her to Petsmart. She has been getting better at being in the crate and away from me. Will still whine initially when I leave, but lasts for 15 min maybe. I've been playing classical music for her so that she calms down when I leave. Wow having a dog is great.
