Accepted!

Based on your other school posts, looks like someone will be matriculating here 😉
Congrats all though! Hoping to post something similar on here in the next week or two 🙂

Congratulations everyone!!!

For those getting emails today when did you interview?

Well I also applied to MD schools so not sure if I am doing MD or DO still have to make up my mind, but this was my top DO school.

Accepted. Interviewed on 9/19. This is my top choice DO school, I was thoroughly impressed with the school and the interview process.

Here are my stats if you're wondering
3.5 cGPA 3.7 sGPA, 28 and 29 MCAT
200+ volunteer hours
100+ patient hours
45 shadowing hours (MD only, no DO experience)
100+ research hours

If you have questions regarding the interview process shoot me a message.

I was placed on hold around 1.5-2 weeks ago, worth sending a letter of interest?

Accepted!!!!! SO excited! My wife and I love this school, there's a very good chance this will be my future medical school! AMAZING school, AMAZING dean, AMAZING area. Every other medical school I go to better work hard to beat DMU's amazingness!

I think my neuroticism is in full swing. I keep dreaming I get an email from DMU with an ii, and then when I wake up I look at my phone and....nothing. Should I be worried that I haven't heard anything yet? I was complete on 9/30

You were only complete a week ago, why should you be worried? People wait months before hearing anything.

Wait like 50 more days. Then you can be worried

It took roughly 6 weeks between completing my application and getting an interview invitation. They get tons of apps to read, so it can take quite some time. I was complete late, and I interviewed in January. I am not the strongest applicant by a long shot, but it worked out for me.

Moral? Have faith in yourself as you go forward; confidence is your best bet. You can still make this work. In any case, even if you interview in January, if DMU likes you, good news is likely to follow.

You're doing what you can at this point, so let it go and don't worry. It's basically outta your hands atm.

Disclaimer: earlier is still safer.

+1. Your neuroticisim is in full swing.

Sorry to be the downer here, because I understand that you guys are excited and understandably so (I was too at this time), BUT, you guys seriously need to appreciate how quickly (usually) the school sends out decisions after interviews or even puts you on hold after you have been complete. It is MUCH shorter than most schools by a long shot.

As Lysilegluleu put it, your doing everything you can at this point, so let it go and don't worry. Its basically out of your hands atm.

Fair enough. Look at what sdn has done to me!! Haha

Quality post.
This process is making me super neurotic and seeing stuff like this kinda brings me back to reality

ACCEPTED!
Also interviewed 9/20. Found out yesterday. Congrats all :luck:

For those accepted, what are you doing for housing?

Fun fact:
DMU Financial Aid
Enrolled students with federal financial aid: 94%
Scholarships: Yes
Average scholarship/grant: $31,613

Love seeing that! That was a big reason I'm leaning more towards DMU over CCOM. DMU gave me that long list of housing options I've been casually browing through. I like the idea of the lofts in downtown...and for like $600-$800 not bad. Maybe that's a lot to some but living in Boston currently, that money would get you closet in the basement of some rundown building...

Congrats man! Where else are you interviewing?

I interviewed at WMU, UMMSOM, and RVU all of which I didnt like as much as DMU so we will scratch them off the list at this point. Really the only schools I will be considering now are my state school, University of Utah, which we would go to just because of convenience, and University of Louisville which I would have to be very impressed with to choose over DMU but I would still attend the interview. I have a KCOM interview I am going to cancell though just because I have always liked DMU more and I dont really want to spend the money to interview anymore.

Sorry to hear that. What step were you rejected at? Post interview?

Yeah. 3.4/30, thought the interview went great (lasted 55 minutes) and made it known this was my top choice. At a loss for words.

Rejected. Truly blown away.

Oh my goodness. Im so sorry to hear that. Did you just find out?
I would maybe call and ask why so you have feedback for other interviews.
On the plus side you have great stats and I don't doubt you will get in elsewhere

Oh wow I'm sorry. That sucks....not even the wait list? Have you contacted them for feedback???

Kyle is out of town, said I will get an email next week. Thankfully I have an acceptance under my belt but was really stoked about DMU. Everything happens for a reason tho, and it would have been tough for my GF to find a job in her line of work. Good luck to the rest of you, off to visit KCUMB in a couple weeks it looks like 😉

KCUMB is awesome. I really liked it. Some of it even more than DMU....good luck!!

What'd ya like more about KCUMB? Both great schools, for sure. I'm there Friday. Still waiting on a decision post-interview here. Eeek

I actually liked the campus more. It really had a "homey" feel to it. It was gorgeous. DMU is awesome but in a different way.
The fully integrated curriculum was a big seller to me at kcumb and knowing DMU is just starting that transition makes me nervous. Lol. The lay out of exams being set up like boards ... Same question formatting and all on the computer/iPads. I was really impressed with how they presented themselves. I had all first years at DMU and they really didn't know a whole lot about classes situation from 1st to 2nd year...they'd only been in school a month. They had no knowledge rotation information.
I also liked the PEP weeks kcumb has. They are like mini breaks where you can do electives or not...it's after finals and it's kind of a recharge week between sections. (How it was described to me).
At kcumb we had all 2nd years and they had a panel where we could ask them any question and then tours and they talked to us about all their experiences. They were able to give good advice on the interviewers and I felt like I really belonged.
I also really liked the anatomy lab and that they are expanding their sim center to 30,000 feet with state of the art simulators. They have a patient communications class to really learn how to speak to and engage with patients...DMU may have something similar but I didnt hear about it on my interview day. We did see the SPALs lab , but the first years didn't have a lot of info on that....I guess I felt more knowledgeable of kcumb when I was done than I did with DMU.
The one thing I really did like more about DMU was the surgery skills class. Kcumb does not have a class just a few lab sessions....
I also liked the tunnels at DMU connecting the buildings so you don't have to go outside during the super cold winters! Kcumb does not have tunnels. Ha.

Lol. Sorry for the wall o' text....typing on my phone I don't realize how big my posts get.

I am not sure about the housing part, but the dt seen seems really nice and cheap so possibly that, or just pitch a tent for the four years.

About the scholarship/grant fact, that is a reallllly high number and I saw that too but I am confused in why DMU students get so much. Anyone know? (Not the best with finances, hence medicine haha)

Look at all the scholarships they have from their endowment

DMU Scholarships

Received secondary today, hopefully will complete it by tomorrow at the latest. It's not too bad at all!

Right but how does this relate to having such a high schalrship/grant per student at a class of 200?

It's not per student, it's per scholarship. They give it out only a few scholarships to those with 3.7+/30+, but they are very lucrative.

Hey when was the last interview date? Was it our group or was there one last week/this week?

If I remember the interview scheduler correctly, it was ours. Then they picked back up this week. Not positive though.
