Interviewing Sept 27. Most of the sept dates were full already...

Anybody interviewing Sep 19th want to split hotel cost? Found a cheap hotel by the school for $67/night (PM me)

Does anyone know where you can find statistics on number interviewed, number accepted, etc?

also dont know how recent this info is =/

Anyone with an ii who hasn't scheduled yet? Can you tell me which dates in Sept are still open, if any?

Thanks!

anyone interviewing sept 13 and staying at the hilton inn express?

I am renting a car if anyone needs a lift to DMU too, PM me.

I talked to admissions earlier this week and they said 3.6 gpa and 28 mcat. Its also on their website... yall cud have just looked there

I know both TUNCOM and RVU's stats went up last year from these numbers. I dont remember GPAs, but I know the average MCAT at both places went up to 28.

Thanks, that's not what we are wondering though. We are searching for stats on how many interviewed vs accepted.

Sorry to hear that but I do believe that they have a 3.25 sGPA requirement.

I haven't been rejected yet and I have a 3.0 sGPA. Their website says the min is 2.8 cGPA and sGPA

I thought the cut off is 3.0

The minimum entrance requirement is a GPA of at least 3.0, both cumulative and in science.

Alright found this from last year's thread from a post who interviewed with DMU "From my notes, they expect 4100 apps, 700-800 interviews, 450 acceptances, and 220+ matriculants. Pretty good odds."

This is correct, from last year. This early in the cycle, your odds are really good. Just don't be a jerk on interview day, and read through the interview surveys to prepare and you'll be fine. Congrats on the II's! Good luck!

I cant verify the accuracy of this information, but I found this on a university's website.

http://www.uvu.edu/csh/prehealth/pdf/Osteopathic Medical Schools Info.pdf

gives the number of interviews vs accepted to 10 DO schools including DMU

That's a very strange list of the "Top 10" DO Schools. Not only do they not mention CCOM or PCOM (as well as others that should be near the top), they have some on the list that are questionable. I wonder what made them choose these schools?????

And as others have pointed out, they are listing the number of seats available as the number accepted, which we all know is not correct since many students decline their acceptances.

Its the top 10 schools Utah valley university students attend, number one having the most alumni.

Hey babydoc86! I quoted u from last year. Awesome that u pop by this thread

Ill be interviewing on Sept. 19th. Ive looked into renting a car/taking a taxi and it seems like a taxi is the way to go. I have calculated the fare to be somewhere around 14$ (high end). Does anyone have any past experience with the taxies in the Des Moines area?

I'll assume you have all done some extensive interview prep, so I'll just give you this cliche tidbit: be professional, be humble, and relax. Every school will open the day by telling you to relax, and that will be easier said than done, but you can safely relax here. Nobody is gonna try to freak you out or trip you up. Good luck, peeps!

Cancelled my interview and withdrew my app. Good luck to those who want to attend this school 👍:xf:

It's a really great DO school, and I'm lucky to have gotten an II. It's just that Iowa is a loong way from NYC/NNJ. I'd probably cry if I was more than an hour away from NYC lol :boom:

Haha! Good luck with your cycle 🙂

When was your interview originally scheduled for?

It was for 10/15. I know DMU is at the top of "best" DO schools, but location is important to me.

I've been getting II to other schools near cities (NYC, AC, Miami), and I just can't picture myself in a rural setting lol

the Des Moines metro area is over 500k people, not exactly rural 😛

Does anyone know if the interview is closed file?

The above is accurate. I got this info directly from a current employee in the registrars office: 700 interviews, 400 acceptances, matriculate 221.

Hey guys!

So I have fallen in love with everything DMU. The only thing that really scares me is my gpa 🙁. I work really hard and Im a motivated student...it just doesnt seem to reflect in my grades.

My stats right now (entering my senior year)
cGPA: 3.2
SGPA: 3.1
MCAT: to be taken avgs have been 27-28

currently volunteering in a free clinic and for the Redcross. I have tons of other volunteer experiences as well.
I have a job and do research
I have the co-captain of 2 teams
I have an executive position in a tutoring organization (so I manage and tutor)
Im pursuing a unique leadership certificate along with my major.
I will be a TA in the fall

My GPA trend has been improving. My two terrible semesters are done and now its only up from here!

I was hoping you guys could let me know my chances for DMU acceptance / direct me to schools that would be more likely to accept me.

Thanks in advanced for all your support! I love SDN so much!

I cant really point you in a direction because the MCAT scores you gave are a guess and from my experience that can be a wide margin. If you do score that, hope you do, I think you might have a chance at this school, which so far appears pretty high on my list. Some other schools, maybe new schools and lecom which is really nice, was just there a few days ago.

like you said the GPA is the problem and so I would def show that trend upwards and maybe look into a post-bac program if anything. Good luck

I noticed that the average scholarship is high for DMU on the CIB, can a current student comment on this?

I got an II with a high GPA but a 25 MCAT, does that mean that my chances of actually getting in are slim?

med schools don't give out interviews if they do not feel they want you. Just go in and show how much you want it. If they gave you an interview then they have accepted your stats as is, so put it behind you.

Typically if you get an ii you can get in but you gotta do well on that interview
