Does any one know how many people DMU interviews/accepts?

Thanks!

I am beyond excited about this school! I cannot wait for my interview on 11/22...I still have to book a hotel though, can anyone comment on where they stayed/discounted DMU rates?

I called all the hotels listed in the email and the wild wood lodge was the least expensive at 89 + tax per night. Pool is nice and breakfast was great (served at 630). 7 miles west of dmu. They also gave me a drink voucher. Not sure why but I didnt ask! )

I have been patiently waiting (not really) to hear back from DMU since being complete on 9/26. I have an acceptance but am high on DMU because of a friend in the program. Is anyone else experiencing such a wait? Thanks.

it can take up to 60 days for them to let you know..so you still have time

Anyone receive an ii beyond the 60-day mark? I was complete on 9/9 and have yet to hear anything. I'm OOS, but with pretty good stats and strong clinical experience.

I was complete earlier than that and haven't heard a word from them. They must be swamped with applications this year.

flew into Des Moines earlier today. After I got settled into my hotel room, I thought I'd go check out DMU. I went on a journey to and from... lol... I got lost. I didn't realizing that you have to take that "exit" cutoff from Fleur Drive. When I got to the campus, it was beautiful. But then instead of turning back around, I went down the street, way way down, and took me ten minutes to find the main road. so yeah, I had some excitement. I can't wait for the interview tomorrow. Good luck to whoever else is with me tomorrow!!!

I just discovered this school and have already applied to 15 DO programs (completed back in September)... would it be completely foolish to apply to DMU and do the secondary asap? I like what I hear about this place, but is it to late in the cycle already?

I stayed at the Rennaissance-Savery...sure it was a little pricier but man oh man was it nice. They had free shuttle to and from airport and DMU and held my bags at their desk while I was interviewing so good experience all around!

This is my first SDN post ever but i figure it's the right time to join the party.
My DMU secondary was completed on September 1st and I received my interview invite on November 6th, which means the admission committee got back to me after the 60 days mark. I'm cool with it b/c I'm certain they must receive a ton of applications. My interview will be on January 17th
Here is my stats: cGPA 3.13, sGPA 3.04, MCAT 29 (11Bio, 9Verbal, 9Phys), 200+ clinical experiences, 1000+ volunteer experiences, worked at a research lab for 3 years and various leadership roles throughout undergraduate.
Obviously, my stats aren't really jumping out of the sheet by any means.
So for those who hasn't heard back from anywhere, just hang in there

Thanks for the encouragement! Best of luck!

Congrats to you both!

Does anyone know if we get the acceptance packet before or after we send the conditions of enrollment in with our deposit?

Hmm. I haven't gotten a packet and I have sent in both my conditions of enrollment and the first half of the deposit.
I did however get a snail mail letter of acceptance.

Does anyone know if the laboratory Teaching Assistant positions are paid or voluntary?

I just withdrew my acceptance here... hardest decision of my life to let this school go! Whoever get's this spot you are a lucky lucky person, DMU is a fantastic place!

Any fellow 11/22 interviewee's staying at the Wildwood Lodge tonight? Let me know if you'd like some company when you redeem your drink voucher! Haha. Btw thank you BottomUpDoc for the recommendation, it is really nice!

So I received a thank you and hope to see you next summer letter a few days ago. the more interesting part was the hand written note at the bottom of it. They know how to reel someone in alright...

Anyone complete in October get an ii yet?

I was complete in September and am quickly approaching the 60th day, yet have heard nothing after sending in a secondary app. Hopefully we hear soon!

I'm on your boat. I assume you were placed on hold in september and you're now approaching the 60th day? What are your stats if you don't mind me asking

Coincidentally, more so thankfully, received an interview invite email. I'm ecstatic! I've landed two acceptances but have always been high on DMU. My stats are 27, 3.72. Good luck!

Anyone contacted regarding selecting rotation sites?

..Go on

Can an accepted candidate enlighten me on about how many days to hear back from admissions after an interview? I have a deposit deadline approaching for a different school and don't exactly feel like throwing out $1000... Thanks!

DMU told us that we would hear a decision in two to three weeks, and from the forums, it seems that they've been true to this time frame. I interviewed last week , and got some unexpected, yet awesome news yesterday, so I'm not sure.

TA positions fall under work study, so there is minimal pay. Hours are limited, plus you are competing for those hours with all the other students interested in doing TA.

All information regarding 3rd year rotations is gone over in Nov/Dec of 2nd year. The lottery process for available sites is done in Jan/Feb.

Thanks for the info!
