One among my bookshelf began to act very suspicious, always mumbling things about hidden hallways, furnaces big enough to fit people inside, and the average going price for a real human skeleton at the local medical school. The bookshelf decided it was in their best interest to kick this one off the bookshelf and directly into a vat of hot oil.

Dead is
@Coopah , who was The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson, a VILLAGER who would be triggered to take out one player voting for them in the event of their lynch
91nh%2BRL7nPL.jpg

Goodreads description:
Erik Larson's gifts as a storyteller are magnificently displayed in this rich narrative of the master builder, the killer, and the great fair that obsessed them both.

Two men, each handsome and unusually adept at his chosen work, embodied an element of the great dynamic that characterized America's rush toward the twentieth century. The architect was Daniel Hudson Burnham, the fair's brilliant director of works and the builder of many of the country's most important structures, including the Flatiron Building in New York and Union Station in Washington, D.C. The murderer was Henry H. Holmes, a young doctor who, in a malign parody of the White City, built his "World's Fair Hotel" just west of the fairgrounds—a torture palace complete with dissection table, gas chamber, and 3,000-degree crematorium. Burnham overcame tremendous obstacles and tragedies as he organized the talents of Frederick Law Olmsted, Charles McKim, Louis Sullivan, and others to transform swampy Jackson Park into the White City, while Holmes used the attraction of the great fair and his own satanic charms to lure scores of young women to their deaths. What makes the story all the more chilling is that Holmes really lived, walking the grounds of that dream city by the lake.

The Devil in the White City draws the reader into a time of magic and majesty, made all the more appealing by a supporting cast of real-life characters, including Buffalo Bill, Theodore Dreiser, Susan B. Anthony, Thomas Edison, Archduke Francis Ferdinand, and others. In this book the smoke, romance, and mystery of the Gilded Age come alive as never before.

Of course, this book is vicious, and simply cannot resist pulling another to its demise.

Dead is
@BigCats , who was The Imp of the Mind by Lee Baer, a WOLF whose vote counted double
91dR0K9ZwXL.jpg

Goodreads description:
In The Imp of the Mind, a leading expert on Obsessive Compulsive Disorder explores the hidden epidemic that afflicts millions of Americans.

In the first book to fully examine obsessive bad thoughts, Dr. Lee Baer combines the latest research with his own extensive experience in treating this widespread syndrome. Drawing on information ranging from new advances in brain technology to pervasive social taboos, Dr. Baer explores the root causes of bad thoughts, why they can spiral out of control, and how to recognize the crucial difference between harmless and dangerous bad thoughts.

An illuminating and accessible guide to the kinds of thoughts that create extreme fear, guilt, and worry, The Imp of the Mind provides concrete solutions to a tormenting and debilitating disorder. Including special sections on the prescription medications that have proven effective, it is "a beautifully written book that can be a great help to people who want to know what to do about obsessions" (Isaac Marks, M.D., author of Living with Fear: Understanding and Coping with Anxiety).

I forgot you'd be dead before I could give my thoughts @Coopah lol

I don't know why you would be mad at me, I stayed on you after I figured out the vengeance thing so there wouldn't be a mass exodus and your plan would still work out. Took me longer to actually figure out what you were talking about than it should have because I was distracted by pip, so by the time I did figure it out, I didn't want to make people jumpy by being obvious about movement. Plus I was in a bind with not wanting to use up one of my death avoidances.

I know you can't answer this. But that's why I waited.

I didn't want you to waste it on bombing me either though 😛

This false dichotomy of lynch bandwagons is kind of irritating. I just ISO'd MsP and, guess what, she sounds completely village. I'm not sure whose post exactly influenced me to rethink that but I'm annoyed at myself for allowing myself to be swayed by others' opinions. Back to my actual wolfy candidates.

I don't like the MsP lynch.

Village

Coops, BC, AM

BC is a double vote and I kinda think that leans village.

Now that Nav has flipped village who else do you see in a "pack" with BC and me?

I'm not gonna die today and I don't think I wanna see BC go today either

Village:

You

Coop

Genny

Dubz

Neutral

Er'body else

Wolf:

Pippy

Barks

Miz

Possibly Sar

Possibly Alissa

Lynch Barks

VOTECOUNT pretty please.

Notice how barks, miz, and SAR are on her wolf list while the two confirmed wolves BC and dolphin don’t even make it on the list? Just as “neutral”

Plus, I said I was cool with BC earlier

Do you wanna get off BC and help save a girl pretty please?

12/14 voting

Notice how both MsP and BC were not on each other’s lynch. Here’s my theory: They knew ending it in a tie would kill off dolphin. However, leaving it a tie would likely kill off a villager too. My guess is dolphin sacrificed herself so that a villager would die in the tie mechanism as well. If dolphin moved her vote to someone else, BC would’ve been lynched and no villager. At least this way wolves were also able to reduce village numbers by doing this.

Well well well isn’t this fun? contingency lynch MsP

BC choosing not to vote MsP to save herself AND dolphin is pretty damning. She was on before jboose closed the lynch too. And similarly MsP could have broken the tie, BC just would have been able to do it more definitively. Looks like they were hoping someone else would do it or dolphin would come back in time to unlynch.

BC having a double vote and dolphin dying in ties is kind of a perfect pairing of wolf abilities and makes me question this whole RNG thing, by the way 😛

So you guys think that me and BC sat on a tie that could kill dolphin when we could buss each other or claim self prez and save one of us and dolphin? Not to mention when I didn't realize that that Jboo closing thing was real, I voted her which would have resulted in yet another tie that could have potentially killed dolphin and me aka two 'wolves'?!

MOD ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi all! :hello:

I am going to close night probably tomorrow morning at actual night close time and then after night results are posted I will be temporarily shelving this game until Saturday morning. I have a few things in my life that I've been neglecting because of this game (like, you know, studying for my giant test on Friday or actual self care) and I'm sure you all do as well.

What does shelving mean?
I will lock this thread after N6 results are posted and will not reopen it until Saturday morning. You may continue to PM if you'd like since shelving will occur after results are posted. This will also give time for pippy's sub to catch up adequately on thread since we are later in the game.

With love,

Nevermind I read dubz's day four tally thing. If I had voted for jmoose in time there would have been a 3 way tie between me, BC, and jmoose so that would have put 2 'wolves' in danger of dying since we didn't know about jmoose's PR. Why wouldn't we have just avoided a tie since it put two of our own in danger? Are we that reckless of a wolf pack? Even if we were hoping to get someone else lynched we wouldn't have achieved that, especially so close to lynch close because people were damned set on lynching one of us.

I honestly wasn't gonna try and self prez against a double voter because I knew it was stupid so I went elsewhere. BC not voting me and voting elsewhere made me not want to vote her even more since I thought that if she was a wolf she would have self prezzed and got it over with.

I am doing night close (this morning). I do not wake up consistently so prepare for abandonment but please make sure to submit any night actions in ASAP.

also!! Items will be removed permanently after this cycle. So, use them or lose them, people.

KD out. or I will NEVER wake up later today.

I'm sure if jboo hadn't closed early, that is what would have happened. The hesitation is suspect though. BC could have put you two votes ahead by swapping to you, yes, but AM was still holding her vote, I was on jboo and could have swapped for tie amusement, etc. There was still a chance the tie would continue. But you had time, so you waited, to see if the jboo lynch would take off, or if something else would come up.

The books thought they were safe for an evening. They'd heard "the Cheese" had been moved elsewhere. Dairy shouldn't harm books, right? Boy. If only that were the case.

In search of his beloved crunchies, the hungry, spiteful tyrant went into a small dervish, category 4, tantrum mode and scattered some books about. Oh dear, it looks like someone may have been damaged in the scramble. Irreparably. Was this Cheese? The victim was torn to bits. AND set ablaze. CAN LILMAC USE FLAMES!?????

@WonderingStudent , who was Nine Pints by Rose George, a VILLAGER who was able to switch two players’ places on the roster once a day (since blood is fascinating in its ability to be transfused from one person to another)
61pRDsPJ-aL.jpg

Goodreads description:
An eye-opening exploration of blood, the lifegiving substance with the power of taboo, the value of diamonds, and the promise of breakthrough science.

Blood carries life, yet the sight of it makes people faint. It is a waste product and a commodity pricier than oil. It can save lives and transmit deadly infections. Each one of us has roughly nine pints of it, yet many don’t even know their own blood type. And for all its ubiquity, the few tablespoons of blood discharged by 800 million women are still regarded as taboo; menstruation is perhaps the single most demonized biological event.

Rose George, author of The Big Necessity, is renowned for her intrepid work on topics that are invisible but vitally important. In Nine Pints, she takes us from ancient practices of bloodletting to modern “hemovigilance” teams that track blood-borne diseases. She introduces Janet Vaughan, who set up the world’s first system of mass blood donation during the Blitz, and Arunachalam Muruganantham, known as “Menstrual Man” for his work on sanitary pads for developing countries. She probes the lucrative business of plasma transfusions, in which the U.S. is known as the “OPEC of plasma.” And she looks to the future, as researchers seek to bring synthetic blood to a hospital near you.

Spanning science and politics, stories and global epidemics, Nine Pints reveals our life's blood in an entirely new light.

But, do not despair, my darling books. After honoring a request of a worn, exhausted book, @Lawper will join the Book Club. (He should have ample time to catch up on these 51 pages of thread during our hiatus 🤣:biglove::welcome:)
