LMU CVM c/o 2024

Did everyone who received an interview from LMU only have about a week’s worth of notice, or is this a recent thing? I seriously hope the school realizes how cost-prohibitive that is. I know that I would not have been able to come up with $1000+ just for a flight on such short notice, and I’d imagine that that’d apply to many other people.
Yes I think I got like 8-10 days notice. Luckily I’m only a few hours away so I could drive. But I can imagine that’s stressful. We already spend so much money applying to schools then have to fund travel expenses, hotels, and rental cars.. and then to be rejected! I know it’s tough y’all were in the same boat, but one day we’ll get that acceptance letter and it’ll all be worth it.

I didn’t get very much notice either. I think it was like a week. I wasn’t too far that I couldn’t drive though so I got lucky.

No, I had about a month notice for mine. I still decided to drive because flying into the smaller airports was still expensive, but I think for several cases they notified with a decent amount of time.

Same here, exactly a month.

I received my invite around 3 weeks before my interview. I drove down, it was 9 hours but a lot cheaper than flying.

They sent out notices around 1 week for most interviews but for the 24th they sent out notices a month ahead of time. But I think the last interview date they had was in December or the first week of January. I was invited to the coming up interview but then heard from my in state and I canceled last week. I bet they are having a lot of people do that since so many schools have sent out decisions by now, so they are now filling those cancelation spots. Even 1 month out though, a lot of the hotels close (there's only like 3) were saying they were almost full, probably because of interviews.

Also, I emailed to cancel, as the information they sent says to, and have not heard anything back since then.

Received a last minute interview with a weeks notice. I did not read through all prior posts so this may have been addressed already but this seems to be their final interview date. Due to the price of flights I will be driving from New York this weekend (11 hours). If anyone is also considering driving down I would not mind some company 🙂

Email read:

At this time, we have one final interview date. Please click here to register an interview for Monday, February 24th.

Hey guys, I've been accepted to LMU-CVM back in December and I'm still waiting for one more school to get back to me before I decide. I'm really stuck since I got into some other schools as well. However, LMU is the cheapest tuition out of my options. Can anyone who is accepting their seat or currently go to LMU shed some light on what it's like to be a student and if you are genuinely happy there. I am nervous about the rural-ness of the school and never living in an area like that before. I know EVERYONE says go to the cheapest school but I want to be happy and I think that is super important during such a rigorous curriculum.

Where else did you get into?

@asch97 Midwestern and Western. Waiting on Tufts (my first choice). So basically based on that I'll have to decide what my 2nd choice would be. I wasn't a big fan of Western after seeing Midwestern and Tufts. So I guess I just have to decide between LMU or MWU for my 2nd option. I fell in love with MWU but the tuition is devastatingly high so it has me thinking hard about LMU. I liked the school but I wasn't in love.

Hey! I’m currently a first year vet student at LMU. The area is pretty rural. You have a few restaurants and then some fast food chains. There are grocery stores and a Walmart. If you want a bigger area when we have some free time we drive into Knoxville a little over 1 hour away that literally has everything. It does suck sometimes with how limited it seems but honestly we don’t have much free time. A lot of us also like to hike with our dogs which is a lot of fun.

As far as curriculum goes, the professors are outstanding and I’ve already learned a lot. Feel free to ask more questions if you have them!

This wait to hear back has been miserable anyone else struggling with impatience too ?

Yes! I’ve more or less given up on hearing back from LMU anytime soon. I think they’re still doing more interviews. I was waitlisted at my IS school and I’m waiting to hear from another so everything about this process is making me realize how impatient I am.

SAME . I was waitlisted IS @ Ohio & OOS @ UT . UT requires physics 2 and I’m taking it online as a second semester course , so it starts March 16th . I’m PRAYING we hear back from LMU by then bc I really don’t want to take this class if I don’t have to .

Aww best of luck! I hope you get in or get called off the waitlist. My instate is FL so still holding onto some hope that they call me off.

I had my interview yesterday, and now i'm anxious about the waiting process because I was waitlisted last time I applied and never heard anything back from them. Has anyone been pulled off their waitlist before?

Did you interview and were waitlisted?

Yeah I interviewed and was waitlisted, I just hadn't heard from anyone else that has been waitlisted and actually pulled from the list. They don't let you know an exact placement on the waitlist either. edit : i haven't been waitlisted for this cycle yet, i'm talking about the last time i applied. i haven't heard anything back from my interview yesterday

My friend got waitlisted last year and pulled off the list. I think there is a good chance of that bc so many people choose their IS school

Did they give you a time frame in which they’re contacting us?

Yes, I talked to admissions this morning. I was informed that if we haven't been granted an interview we could expect a rejection email next week (and also hopefully an answer for those of you that interviewed). Best of luck!!!

I thought this said “if we haven’t heard back from the interview we got rejected” and I almost passed out

I also asked Gerald because I was stressed about having the last interview date and he said they didn't send out any interview invites based on the candidate. it had to do with the time you submitted your app and when they got to it so he said the only reason people that interviewed earlier haven't heard is b/c they had to get through with all interviews. no hope lost!!

The deadline to accept the position is April 15th, but they have to let us know by March 15th so we have "time" to make our decision. Kind of ironic that we get a month to do that lol

Out of curiosity - where did you get this info? I can’t find it anywhere ! (Talking about the March deadline)

I’m not sure if it’s the 15th for every school now cause i don’t see that date online, but I know Gerald said that date and every school says their decisions come out in March. I’ve also heard it from numerous people but I can’t find it anywhere, you’re right!

Does anyone know why they’d send mail? I have a FedEx delivery apparently from them, says it’s a one pound package. (I’ve been accepted so a letter wouldn’t be strange but a package?)

They send their acceptance letters in boxes with confetti !

ME TOO! I’ve been waiting since September and have lost 98% of my sanity. From what I have read on here, looks like you get the email 1st, then they send you your acceptance package by mail.
Yep it was email first! Then the “snail mail” and it was very snaily lol

Oh no! You’re declining? Did you get in somewhere else that you preferred?
I had a few acceptances and feel Virginia-Maryland CVM is the best fit for me both personally and academically! I did really like a lot of things about LMU and likely would have chosen it over a couple other places that I interviewed. My personal opinion is that it’s a great school ... I worked for a vet in their first graduating class and she was far more knowledgeable than a couple other new grads in the practice. N = 1 experience for sure but I hadn’t seriously considered any newer school until her. Y’all are going to be awesome!! 😀
