LSU c/o 2021

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Me too! It looks like they picked some number of people to be invited to accept, and the rest of the 150 were waitlisted? Does anyone know if LSU lets applicants know their waitlist ranking?

Edit: Nevermind, looks like they don't :/ Just read the status form, I assumed the info would be the same as the email.

I would assume they wouldn't waitlist 150 people. My guess is maybe 50? But I have no idea

Edit: It looks like all top 150 are alternates

Has anyone already made the travel arrangements for the interview?

Does anyone know if LSU pulls spots off the waitlist as they become available or if they wait until decision day in April?

Yes. I'm an ARK applicant and my family and I are leaving Friday morning. My father is an alum with LSU SVM so we are making a trip out of it! Good luck to everyone getting interviewed!

May be different since I was on the IS wait list, but I was told during my review that 3 people ahead of me had been offered spots as soon as they'd heard 3 of the IS seats offered were not coming. Of course, the admissions dept has gone through some changes so who knows.

Yeah based on the email they sent it sounds like they're going to send out emails as soon as they have openings, but I kinda doubt they're going to be accepting anyone else soon since I doubt most people are going to be making a decision right now, the majority of other schools may not even have had interviews yet.

Though it says on the check status site that there's supposed to be a chart of open/closed spots? I'm guessing that's something that would show up later, after the in-state interviews?

Nice!! I'am arriving on thursday but haven't decided where to stay yet

Has anyone from the waitlist been taken off it?

Also, it says there's supposed to be a table on the status check portal informing us on how many seats are left. I figured they would wait until after the interviews are done, but I'm wondering if anyone has had access to it!

I don't believe anyone has been picked off it, but I can't be sure. The assistant dean said that it's possible that they will use the waitlist now, but it's unlikely to go down it very far, if at all, until it's closer to the decision date. Then they'll go faster down it after the date since they'll know exactly how many seats they have open, usually stopping in June, though I guess they've called people off it on orientation day!

I don't have access to the table either, meant to ask about that at the open house..

So I just called them and they said they had a lot of problems with the table last year so theyre probably not going to do it this year...🙄👎

Does anyone know around what time they are going to send the accepted/rejected letters?

Just got a response from LSU saying that I'm on the part of the waitlist where it's "unlikely I'll be called off it this year," so I'll be unfollowing this forum. Good luck, everyone else!

At the open house, the associate dean said they will send out notifications to Arkansas applicants first around the middle of February. Then they will do IS and OOS applicants after. So, probably end of February. He also stated they will notify applicants earlier than in years past.

Good luck everyone!

I'm sorry! Was this something they sent out? Or did you reach out to them?

did someone received the undergrad LSU email? it gave me a heart attack for nothing

When do you think they are going to update the portal?

They just posted this on their Admissions Facebook page

"Our wonderful Admissions Committee has met and we will start contacting our AR, LA, and a few O/S applicants with offers over the next few days. So, make sure you are checking Status Check System and answering any calls that start with 225-578-XXXX; it's us with good news!

🙂

Remember that we will need to know your decision by April 15, 2017. If you decide to take an offer elsewhere, please let us know so that we can begin to move down our list."

I didn't see a successful applicants stats for 2021 but I think its important for me to give hope to those with less than perfect GPAs:
1st year: applied to UWM, rejected UWM (IS)
2nd year: applied to LSU, rejected LSU (IS)
3rd year: applied to LSU, accepted LSU

Last 45 credit hour GPA: 3.22
Required coursework GPA: 3.48
GRE: 312

animal experience: 270 hrs - wildlife rehab/pet sitting
vet experience: 6,300 hrs - small animal/emergency/equine
+ volunteer/work/extracurriculars that included management experience and independent study in undergrad.

In short:
Do NOT be discouraged because you feel you have a less competitive GPA, put EVERYTHING on your VMCAS and make sure you tell your interviewers the important stuff! (I bombed my interview last year because I backed myself into a corner with an ethics question instead of bragging about everything I've been able to do and learned and how EXCITED I was about not only being a vet but the school part too!) Brag about what makes YOU unique, I lived abroad non-military for a little while and they thought that was really interesting.

It took me longer than I wanted it to but I'm so glad I kept going after it, I have more years of experience to show and a HUGE appreciation for the whole process now. I hope no one gets discouraged from reapplying if things didn't turn out like you wanted this year, if you want it bad enough you WILL make it happen!

I didn't get a chance to go to the open house unfortunately. Could anyone else share anything important that I may have missed out on or tell me about anything you may have learned or found interesting about the program?

Is there a Facebook page for incoming students to find places for rent or potential roommates in Baton Rouge?

You missed being able to hold a sloth! That was cool!
