Has there been any word on interview invites or potential days they could go out?

They kind of go out sporadically since they’re rolling admissions. If you don’t hear back in a timely manner feel free to email them!

Thank you! Just curious, what do you feel would be appropriate amount of time to wait before contacting?

I think 1-2 months is a fair wait time. It feels like we get more and more applicants each year, especially with the deadline they’ll get a rush of applications they’ll have to go through. This is a busy time for all the schools, I believe we had our first interview group last week? Don’t hold me to that, so they are going out!
Edit: looking back also I submitted early at Sept 3rd, and got an invite to interview Sept 20th; that was before the deadline.

Thank you. Are you a current student at Midwestern? Congrats!

I was verified August 14th, so maybe I will reach out soon.

This may be the paranoia talking but generally is “no news is good news” applicable? I haven’t heard anything from them since I created my portal account and I’m starting to get nervous does anyone know generally how they go about rejections? As in, do they do them relatively quickly when they receive your application or do they wait a while? Just curious! For reference I got a confirmation that my application status was complete from them on 9/5.

I emailed them over the weekend. I got verified and did everything 8/14. They told me my application is under committee review and it could take a couple of weeks for them to go through it all and make a decision on an interview. So I’m guessing for the next batch of interviews at least, we can hear anytime from now till mid October. Legit watching my email 20x a day haha.

I submitted July 15th and haven’t heard anything. I emailed them this morning, though I know they probably have a huge amount of emails to go through as it’s the last day before the deadline. I am nervous as I got waitlisted last year and kinda don’t want to know their response

Does anyone know if they will offer an interview to someone who does not have all the prereqs? I have everything except for 1 more math class and I decided to apply and plan on taking another math class in the winter at a local community college but I don't want that missing prereqs to hurt my chances of an interview.

Schools understand that a lot of applicants won’t have every prereq completed before applying. As long as you’re within the allotted amount in progress that school allows and show them on vmcas you’re planning on filling that requirement before their deadline (usually at the end of the Jan-May semester), you’re fine.

I didn't have all of physics completed at time of application and I still got an interview and was accepted later on. You should still have a chance at getting an interview. That one thing won't stop them from sending you an interview invite if they like everything else about you.

I was missing 3 classes when I applied, I was still offered an interview and acceptance so you’ll be more than okay for that! They aren’t going to hold that against you as an applicant.

Didn’t get an interview or waitlisted, which means.......🙁

Would anyone who heard be willing to share the day their application was verified & complete by midwestern? Also if anyone knows how they go about rejections.

My third LOR was received on 9/14 with transcripts already verified so I’d assume that’s when my app was complete. So 6 days from that to the interview invite.

Any one else get waitlisted for an interview? First time applying, not sure what to expect
I got waitlisted as well ☹

Several of my classmates were interview waitlisted. I wouldn’t write yourselves off quite yet because of it. It still means they like you as a candidate and would be interested in talking more with you, but since they’re rolling they like to look through candidates.

This makes me feel better :’) I just got my email about being waitlisted this morning!

Waiting on the edge of my seat for an email from them. 🙁

I submitted 9/1, VMCAS verified on 9/5, MWU received on 9/5 and marked complete on 9/6. I head back about interviews 9/20.

They do rolling admissions though so if you haven’t heard back it’s not a bad thing.

OOS 2nd time app - 1st time to MWU. Waitlisted for interview - email received at 3:47am EST.
Submitted VMCAS 9/2
VMCAS verified 9/3
MWU received and completed 9/5

They do interviews on a rolling basis so they may not have gotten to you yet!
I understand that they do interviews on a rolling basis but is there any order to it? Should we have heard something by now if we submitted a while back and people who submitted closer to the deadline have heard back already? I guess I'm just worried that the silence means rejection since I haven't even gotten interview waitlisted.

Maybe I'm jumping to conclusions but this process is so nerve-racking

Think of it as training your mental toughness - which this entire process tends to do. Don't worry - last year's thread there were people waitlisted for interviews early and never received interviews. There were others that hadn't heard a peep after submitting and then later in November or December either got waitlisted or invited for interviews. You are still in the fight until you receive a rejection.

It is a long poker game until every seat is filled at every school. Don't get discouraged seeing a bunch of acceptances either because many applicants hold all their cards until the end so they can make their best choice. Anything - I mean ANYTHING other than an outright rejection should keep your hope torch burning for this cycle. The waiting is BRUTAL! With every rejection your torch loses a little brightness until the last one finally extinguishes it, but that could be as late as May, June or July - you never know. If that happens you just pour gasoline on your torch, relight it and apply next cycle brighter, better and more experienced for having gone through the process.

This x1000, there were people that got acceptances the week before orientation before. Never throw in the towel.

This!!!! I know it’s so hard not to have anxiety considering this is a major point in all of our lives, but I’ve dug through so many threads and at the end of the day it only makes me over think more and doubt myself. Everyone’s timeline is different and not every applicant is the same. Like others have said, until you get a legitimate rejection you’re still in it! This whole process is going to be long and nerve wracking so the best thing for all of us to do is keep positive even though it can be difficult to do so at times. You must always have faith in yourself!

Can anyone give some insight on what to wear to the interview and how to prepare for it?

Business attire. I did slacks, dress shirt, blazer and heels. If you wear heels make sure they’re comfortable or your bring a pair of shoes for the tour. I think reviewing general interview questions via google or previous years threads is sufficient. I know it’s easier said than done, but relax and remember to have fun! Don’t be nervous, they like you they just want to learn more about who you are.

Okay thank you! I just feel like I don’t have a lot of time to prepare since it’s so close. I also have to get some fancy clothes then!

Last year i was submitted and verified by August 29th and i got my interview invite on Thanksgiving and was accepted 3 days before christmas! So dont worry if you havent heard anything yet!
I appreciate that - I submitted 8/23 with a last LOR submitted 9/07 and am still waiting. Thanks for your insight!

I have to take one more math class for my prereqs for Midwestern. Does anyone know if they allow online math classes?

I second this. I will be wearing a suit, dress shirt, and tie. I’m not sure if they would appreciate me wearing heels though, it would certainly be memorable.

I’m reviewing some basic interview questions, make sure you have answers to questions like “tell me about yourself” because that one always gets me. Be up to date on current events. Get your friends to ask you some questions and just practice saying your answers out loud to a human. Also, make sure you know what you wrote in your application, give it a quick scan through before you go because you don’t want to seem caught off guard by something you wrote in your own app.

If you end up wearing those heels, make sure you let me know so I can find you
In previous years they didn’t have your entire application, only experiences/extra-curricular activities.. they might have also had the essay responses, can’t remember those or not.

If I wear my heels I’ll be so fabulous you can’t miss me!

Sometimes I forget I’ve briefly mentioned certain things in essays/experiences. You’d think since I’ve read it over so many times before submitting that it should be burned into my brain by this point. I think it’s a combination of the stress from it all and different schools having supplementals so that I don’t remember what I mentioned to which schools vs. what was in my common app.

Do you know if in the past Midwestern has asked about current events? I recently subscribed to AVMA SmartBrief and some other outlets for general news, unfortunately I tend to live under a rock.

I wasn’t asked about events and neither were my peers that I’ve discussed the questions with. We all had pretty similar scenario based questions. Not sure about the interviews for 2023. I wouldn’t completely rule out the possibility! But maybe be more aware of controversial subjects like terminal surgeries (which we do not do), etc. I wasn’t asked any questions to do with those either, but overall seem like common things at least brought up.

Would a dress and a blazer be appropriate with flats?

I think it would, just try to account for weather concerns. We’ve been having storms in the area lately (had a tornado warning yesterday) so it looks like our monsoon rains are a bit later than previously.

Does anyone know how often they usually send out emails regarding interview invites? Also, how many interview dates are there usually?

I interviewed last week, I can second this. I was asked mainly scenario based questions and they tested my knowledge of the profession and topics surrounding it. Be up to date on this stuff!

It's more of a question-answer kind of environment than other interviews, but it is still comfortable--just more professionally structured in my opinion.

Hello! Just joined SDN, so I'm figuring all of this out. I am a 3rd year applicant (technically 2nd year- I never finished my applications last year), and 1st year to Midwestern. I had no idea they did rolling applications until reading these threads. I submitted my VMCAs a few weeks ago and I have been checking the Midwestern website literally every day out of anxiety haha. VMCAs calculated my overall GPA to be 3.44 and overall science to be 3.35. My GRE scores were 154(v)/146(q) and 4.0 analytical. I have tons of hours of animal, veterinary, and research experience, so I'm not concerned about the experience portion. I applied to 4 other schools, all out of state. Just hoping for a bite from anywhere, but Midwestern is on the top of my list. Just wondering if anyone could tell me if my stats seem competitive enough for an interview at Midwestern? Wanting to be as realistic as possible but it's hard not to get your hopes up sometimes!

I’m definitely not involved with their admissions process so I can only speculate, but looking that their website they require above a 2.75 GPA to apply and for the class of 2021 the average GPA was 3.43 and science GPA was 3.36. If I’m not mistaken they no longer look at the GRE. Based on that alone I’d say your GPA wouldn’t be a reason to not offer you an interview, it’s about average for previous admitted students (and there are always people above and below the average anyway), but I haven’t seen the rest of your application which is also an important factor. With well written essays, good experiences and quality LOR’s you’re probably competitive for an interview, good luck!

do you know if we were interviewed in september when we will hear back about acceptance?
