Thank you! I'm on the fence between DMU and CCOM now. Anyway, waitlist is certainly moving. It'll be your turn soon =)

When did you interview?

I interviewed on march 11th.
Snail mail wait listed
Accepted today.
I think they had a committee meeting yesterday to fill the class. The responses are due may 5 so they will probably have another meeting the following week to fill any open spots. And continue until class is full.

Good luck to everyone

Congrats to everyone recently accepted. Hang in there Meows! ImageUploadedBySDN Mobile1366299230.896817.jpg

Any word on when the admissions commitee is meeting this month and about how many spots are left in the CCOM c/o 2017?

Since people were accepted on Wednesday they already met. Since this is their last meeting reviewing interviewees for the first time, I'm assuming they accepted enough to fill the class. If you interviewed in April and still heard no word, you are waitlisted or rejected. Since their deposit is due May 5th (states above), I'm assuming a day or two after that is the next time someone will be accepted.

At my interview, they said that the adcom would meet last week of April and we would get a decision the week of the 29th.

They aren't going to meet more than once in a month. The fact that people were accepted two days ago meant they met this week, rather than next week. There probably weren't that many seats to be given out 👎 They tell you the week of the 29th because they give extra time in order for people to receive their wait list and rejection letters via mail.

Anyone get any acceptances of those who got a response by mail this week or all rejections/wait list?

Anyone interview April 10/12 and get a response

Not yet. Fingers crossed that they are waiting for acceptances to decline and what not to send out waitlist/reject.

Has anyone done the debt calculations using the medloans calculator? Based off of CCOM's COA, if I were to take out Stafford and GradPlus Loans for the total budget, taking into account tuition increases (estimating 2,000 increases per year), I would owe 565,711 at the end of fourth year! Just borrowing for tuition and student fees would have me owing ~340,000.

Am I calculating inaccurately, or is this the average debt that the typical CCOM student (not on a military scholarship) will owe?

Yea that seems about right. Keep in mind there's roughly 8-9% interest accumulating on all those loans from day one so that's why it climbs so high so fast. Definitely a scary thought haha. That's why NOBODY should go into medicine for the money. You won't even break even until your mid 30s, and that's if you start young and are smart with your money.

Or you could just be a Nuerosurgeon like this guy

Dude pulled in over a million a couple years ago from his former employer which is the hospital I work at which I found in public tax documents at http://www.guidestar.org/. A fun website if you ever want to gawk at ridiculous hospital administrator salaries.

out of curiosity, has anyone that interviewed in April been accepted without being placed on Waitlist first?

Of those who were recently accepted off the waitlist, did all of you interview in March? Did anyone interview before March and get accepted off the waitlist already?

tuition = 54,000 a year, these people are insane.

I thought so too until I looked at the MSAR (CIB for MD programs) and saw 54k was toward the lower end of OOS tuition costs. Unbelievable... when will it stop?!

I know right. Then they are like "we want you all to go into primary care and serve the underserved" Really? .

Yeah, I calculated my future debt, then thought-- I think I need to start gunning for orthopedic surgery.

No more waitlist movement since April? Their deposit deadline was Sunday, I figured something would happen by now. C'mon CCOM! Lets get moving!

It was today last year!! Maybe tomorrow?!

Nothing happened I guess 🙁 either that or non-SDN people were accepted. Hopefully next week after May 15th passes we'll see some movement! :xf:

Hahahhaa they're like aliens to me. How can you NOT be an SDN person....

When I meet a pre-med, a med student, or even a young doctor and they have no idea what SDN is I can't help but look at them as aliens. I'm just in shock that someone can be pre med or a physician without sdn

I have a hard time believing people when they say they never heard of SDN, particularly if they're premed seniors in college. it's apparently a fashion to say something like, 'Oh, SDN. I think I've heard of it. Isn't it a bunch a premeds who complain about grades, or something?'

Just out of curiosity, has anyone gotten their fin aid package yet?

Not yet when are we suppose to get it??

Is it odd that we haven't heard of any more wait list movement by now?? It's mid-May! Anyone hear anything lately?

I was thinking the same thing. I thought they would accept people last week and again this week. Since it's almost May 15, anyone holding multiple seats should be withdrawing soon. 👍
