Midwestern University Chicago (CCOM) Discussion Thread 2015 - 2016

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
My LOR's and MCAT scores were marked received about an hour after i submitted the secondary. For the Arizona campus it took about 2 days

Just submitted my secondary. LORs and MCAT score statuses read "expected."

secondary submitted! Just got an email saying the application was complete this morning! *fingers crossed*

Hello all, I'm on the verge of submitting my secondary, but I was just wondering if it's possible to specify which physician LOR we want the school to look at from AACOMAS if we have multiple? I have 2 MD and 1 DO LOR and I'd prefer the DO LOR to go to them if possible. Any thoughts?

If they were submitted through AACOMAS they will get all of them. So just put one of the names

Has anyone received an interview to CCOM yet? I have friends that are starting to receive interviews to a bunch of MD programs and was wondering if CCOM has sent out interview requests yet.

My secondary went out 7/1 and everything has been verified...just waiting now.

Does anyone know if it's possible to change information in your secondary after it has been submitted? Thanks

Unfortunately I don't believe there is a way that you personally can update your application once you've submitted it. Depending on what needs to be updated you might be able to call the admissions office at CCOM and have them do it. It's worth a shot I'd say.

I work at a hospital in the Western suburbs with a few DOs that went to CCOM, and two of them have received requests to start interviewing students in September, so it sounds like IIs are going to be starting then, if that helps at all?

I had a minor editing error in the CV that I initially uploaded, I emailed admissions with a corrected copy and asked if they would be willing to add it to my file. They were very understanding and happy to do it. Not sure about changes to the essays.

Has anyone had luck in getting their MCAT scores uploaded to CCOM's portal?

I had a may 2015 score and it literally took them a month (probably more than a month) to get it uploaded. They aren't the speediest school thats for sure

I took the MCAT in June so my scores were released July 21. I received an email from CCOM that my application materials were complete (due to receiving the mcat scores) on July 25. That was probably the same day my AACOMAS app updated.

Just FYI - we just started orientation today for the class of 2019 and classes start next Monday so I'm sure the school is pretty busy with that. Try to have a little more patience until it settles down with beginning of the year stuff. Best of luck!

Could you guys share when you were complete/stats please? 🙂

Good job everyone! All my LOR's were received by 7/24 so hopefully I hear back soon

II! 🙂 is anyone staying at one of the hotels listed and taking the shuttle to campus? I think that's what I might do

II! This is hardest DO school to get IIs at stats wise so I'm assuming if we can get one here we should be getting II from other DO schools as well.

I've been complete since 7/2, 3.4cGPA/3.3sGPA/33 MCAT(9PS,10VR,14BS), good ECs, research and LORs, and I haven't heard anything. So you're not alone haha
That's good to know. Still wouldn't mind my first II of the season, but I suppose nothing is better than wait list/rejection.

You killed the MCAT. Its arguably the most important part about an application. I would be surprised if you didn't get an II.

Thanks!! I definitely hope you're right... I haven't gotten any IIs yet, MD or DO, so the sooner the better 😛

II, 3.75gpa, 30 mcat, complete 7/17... Stoked!

Where are these stats you speak of?

General stats they gave us at orientation for class of 2019:

Average cGPA: 3.64
Average sGPA: 3.57
Average MCAT: 29.4

There were 8102 applications for ~200 seats; this year's M1 class is 205 seats. Also, our class is 70% in-state, which is about 10% higher than normal/expected.

Dang. Guess I shouldn't expect too much love from them then

Take stats with a grain of salt. They're averages so there are people with numbers higher and lower. FWIW, both of my GPAs are lower than the average but my MCAT is higher.
