The schools seem comparable in many ways (opportunity to study in an urban setting, unique patient populations, diverse clinical experiences, great research opportunities in the NYC and Boston areas, cost unfortunately :/ ). But is there something that sets one above the other?

I'm interested in surgery and would like to get involved in a translational cancer research project as a student.

Extra insight on this would be greatly appreciated!

I think both schools are essentially identical at this point, but NYU does have a few high tier residencies, while I don't think BU has any (might be wrong). I think your geographic preference is really the most important deciding factor here.

edit: I also think NYU has an accelerated pre-clinical curriculum, while BU has a more traditional curriculum.
