*~*~* Official Class of 2023 Thread *~*~*

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm on hold because of a transcript from a community college from when I took dual enrollment courses in high school. I called the school two days ago and they said it got sent out on the 25th of May. Is that normal, or should I go ahead and call AMCAS?

It’s only been a week. One of my schools sent my transcript on May 14, and it just got marked received yesterday.

Just submitted my application a few minutes ago after combing through it a few more times. I realized I'll never stop making small edits so just submitted to be done with it!

Congrats!
Now that I have submitted, I am super paranoid that I am going to reread my application and find something I would have changed.
Classic neurotic pre-med.

Lol nothing we can do about it now. I'm just not gonna reread mine 😛

Btw, love the major. Chemistry rules.

Same here. I feel like if I reread it I will catch some small mistakes and stress out lol. Ignorance is bliss

How many of you are starting secondaries? One of my prehealth advisors suggested I just relax until I actually get them, because schools change their prompts every now and then.

I started thinking of topics for a diversity and a greatest challenge essay since most of the school's I'm applying to had those two in the past.

slowly working through the common prompts like "talk about a time you failed" or "how are you diverse or have you overcome adversity?". It's like pulling teeth compared to the other stuff though. I think I'm a little burnt out on writing after reading and re-reading everything on my app for days

I prewrote for a few schools. One I know will not change them, and the others, if I have to change some of them around I will.
Which school if you don't mind me asking, and how do you know they won't change it? Thanks in advance.

My friend found a typo or two in the secondary for a school she was accepted at, don't worry too much!

Others commented they never reread their app, but I always used mine for interview prep because on the spot I can forget some things that I have done before. Doing this was good because some interviewers asked me very specific things about experiences I had mentioned and so knowing what details were already given about an experience, I could add new ones.

USUHS. We were told at orientation that they were not going to change.

Edit: the questions are also on their website, where they pretty much imply that they're going to be the same for the foreseeable future.

*sigh* account still on hold because of my dual enrollment transcript. Stupid English classes :bang:

Yeah, I saw it. If you get it in sometimes between 6/10-6/15, it will get sent out on the first day in July. At least that was the case last year
The cycle was more hectic and people ended up being verified a bit later than that. To be safe, I'd err more towards 6/8-6/11.

Do they email you once you're verified? Or do you just have to check the amcas site?

Agreed with that recommendation, for last cycle I submitted 6/17 and was verified 7/11 FYI 🙂

Is it true that some secondaries come out mid-June??

I saw somewhere that some schools don’t screen at all, so as soon as they see that you’re going to apply they send a secondary. Not sure how many schools send them before receiving your app though.

Sweet, maybe I'll be verified soon since I submitted about 3 hours after Matthew.

On another note, does anyone know if there was a secondary thread last year? Both this year's sticky and last year's say "coming soon".

Don't they put the secondaries in the school specific threads?

I want to use MDApps but it might be too much lol

I thought about it, but I feel like my data wouldn't be useful since there are literally only 23 other people in my situation lol.

Edit: Well, I said **** it and put it in. I don't care. I'm excited to finally be applying. I've been thinking about this for the last 14 years. I'm not too cool for school.

Lol to be frank MDApps isn't really used for the data. It's more for showing off

Yeah go for it. But 6? You must be from a real nice state lol

Make sure to check if they made any adjustments. They didn't count my statistic as math so it was not in my BCPM GPA. I called and they apologized saying they will fix it if I submit the petition form. When I asked an eta, they say hopefully before the end of June. :slap:

Oh, yeah. These are links to threads that, I assume, tell you when schools sent secondaries. That or they answer questions about secondaries in the thread. I'm not really sure, I just noticed they're non-existent.

So someone else started a secondary thread for people to post when they get secondaries but in truth most people use the school specific threads for this function. I need to update the link but you can see all of the secondary Questions in the 2017-2018 School Specific forum. If you scroll through those threads you can also get an idea of when people last cycle started getting secondaries. A lot of school websites (Dell for example) will explicitly tell you when they plan to send out the first wave of secondaries. The 2018-2019 SSD forum will become more active as the cycle gets going but in some of the TX threads there is already discussion about secondaries.

I prewrote a lot of my secondaries already by looking at the 2017-2018 school specific threads, where the secondary prompts are (usually) on the first post. Some of them may change slightly, but at least I have most of them done (except for the autobiography UCSD wants--lawd).

Same, except I've only prewritten about 6ish so far. I've skipped around to certain questions for multiple schools. I've had some questions about what people wrote but luckily found answers in past threads. (One was "Do you have any comments for the admissions committee - include them here." 10,000 word limit. LOL)

Thanks, @Lucca. I didn't really know if that link served a purpose so I was just wondering. I didn't want to start asking about secondaries in SSD before secondaries were released.
