I need a break from the grind though.

No plans for a break this summer? Two of the medical schools I've been accepted to start in July so I'm gonna make the best of the end of may may and most of June trying to get some relaxation in.

Yeah, I'm taking the master's versions of most of the pre-clinical courses, so it's keeping me intellectually occupied, but honestly I just want to start and actually be in med school. Have all the clinical stuff too, plus actually be taking the courses to get ready for boards and ****. I'm just ready to be a med student haha.

My plan was to leave work late June/early July. The have a month to relax, get all moving plans finalized, etc.

Did you have any luck with getting them matched at other places?

For some places it won't matter. They don't match. For others waiting to see how needbased aid and CSS profile info pans out. For the tax year they asked for my parents made <$40k ans dont have assets so I hope it helps.

Assuming your personal assets are limited as well, you will likely end up with a lot of need based aid (depending on the school, but still)

Excited to start but I have no idea where I’m going yet. 1 acceptance, 2 WLs, 1 still waiting to hear back. That uncertainty is what bothers me but I try not to focus on it!
I share this sentiment, super excited to have the opportunity to go to a great MD school but still totally unsure of what is going to happen / where I am gonna end up before July

Same and I have to move in May to start lab rotations in June lol
One of my really close friends is starting in June too cause of lab rotations. Do you just try a bunch of different labs until you find one you like?

Yup! 6-8 week rotations until you find the right fit for your PhD mentor. I technically would not be forced to do a summer rotation at the programs I’m considering but i want to because $$ and science is fun.

You've got a really tough call to make since money's not even a factor for MSTPs 😛 and prestige is also pretty good across the board for you

Yah good luck to everyone waiting on fin-aid. One benefit of selling your life to a university for 3-5 yrs is you can choose based on what you like best and not $$.

Same. I just wanna know if I need to move or not. If so, I wanna pick an apartment and start picking new furniture, lol. I also want to know when I can quit my job. Priorities.

So the schools that I've been accepted to don't need the CSS profile, but the schools I'm waitlisted at want it. Is the deadline still March 15th even if I'm on the waitlist? Or can I choose to wait to submit only if I get an offer?

I literally have your exact same situation! I feel your uncertainty

I would email the schools and ask. A lot of times they want all financial aid info from waitlistees so that they can get your package to you ASAP if offered an acceptance

Very much same.
I have been thinking of the housing situation and I initially was leaning towards having a roommate(s) but I'm not so sure now.

Yeah personally unless it’s someone I already know and get along with, it’s too risky. There are things I have pet peeves about that I’ve had roommates not care about, and it’s frustrating.

100% agree. Roommates definitely help with decreasing housing and other living expenses, but it can get so tricky finding the right roommate and you never know if someone's a good fit until you've actually lived with them. I lived with a couple of my closest friends in various combinations throughout college, and it always felt like a random toss-up whether or not we could smoothly live together or not.

I can relate. Roomed with some of my best friends in undergrad and not all of them worked out. Unfortunately it looks like I won't have much of a choice financially in terms of having roommates, so hopefully I can find someone compatible.

Yeah. Leaving the kitchen a mess or the bathroom a mess are my biggest pet peeves.

Although I will say I lived with someone for two years, and for most of that time I thought she somehow managed to pee on the seat and then not clean it up. Then one time I happened to be in the bathroom shaving while she was peeing, and I realized that the drips on the seat were from when she washed her hands and reached over the toilet to grab the towel haha.

Good luck! Crossing my fingers for you to find a good roommate!

I honestly burst into laughter reading that. That's hilarious.

Anyone know a reliable way of knowing whether a school is true P/F?

Only way I’ve seen is to ask if there is an internal ranking system. If they have AOA in first and second year (ie, jr aoa), then it isn’t true p/f since they have to rank you somehow.

Is there anything wrong with an internal ranking for AOA purposes?

Many will say it's nice not having to stress about that during preclinicals. Let's you focus on just passing, family, step 1, research, or whatever else floats your boat
