Sivcic it pains me to hear of your loneliness. Let your altruism shine through and give up your spot to me :)

hahahah

I'LL STAY LONELY THEN!

HAHA

it's about time somebody started a Cornell thread! Along with Vic, I got in way back in the day, so I am waiting for some potential classmates! Good luck to all! :p

I really liked Cornell. It is my first choice. Once I hear from them, I will be able to make up my choice about which school I am gonna go to. So I am anxiously waiting news.

So does this mean Cornell is definitely done sending out interview invites?

I am sorry to tell you, I just got off the phone with Cornell. All acceptances have already been sent out via e-mail and snail. The average stats were 3.71 and 34R. They are now assembling a wait list, but generally acceptees enrole. The wait list will be sent out in two weeks via e and snail. Good luck guys.

Actually I am completely full of schlitz, don't worry guys hang out have a drink and smoke em if you got em...it probobly will be a while, I am with you for the wait though.... :D

dirty, you are an dingus.

dirty, ahhhh...toying with our fragile emotional states...not fair!

Seriously though, the only thing I could think about was how it was nice that for the last week, I haven't been panicking (sp?) all the way home...

We need Xanax or something to tolerate the commute home without totally freaking out!

Hey Zancudo- are you ending up at Cornell? If so, are you going to be at the revisit (April 5th)?

Nice try dirty - you almost gave choker a Heart-attack

Dirty, that was so foul. I almost had a heart attack.

OHmyGosh - Dirtyone the tears were just about to flow. That was wack.

Vic - As of right now I am going to Cornell. I am just waiting to hear from Penn and will make my final decision. I am going to be at the re-visit weekend...you?? It sounds like a pretty cool program.

Has anybody asked the admissions office when all of the final decisions are going out??
Zan

Zan, I nominate you to do the honors of initiating such a conversation with the admissions staff at Cornell. :)

Arrrghhh! They notify people at the END of March (I just called)

The Cornell people wrote me the following a couple weeks ago:

"Acceptances will probably go out mid to late March. Wait list offers usually go out a couple of weeks after Acceptances (late March to early April). Rejections are currently being sent out and will probably be sending them out through the end of March beginning of April. I hope this helps."

cornell just notified me today that i have an interview, so i am perhaps the latest invite (03/01)...looks like they have 2-3 more weeks left in their cycle. I still can't believe i got an interview considering how late i turned in my app, and I'm pumped about it. There's still hope for others waiting!

ALSO, IF YOU'RE EXCITED ABOUT CORNELL, CAN YOU POST WHY.

•••••Hey Zancudo
I will be there for the re-visit- that will be awesome. Hope to get out to the village and do some innovative PBL work during the visit. Wooohooo

Hey if Penn gives ya the Nod - It will be bye-bye Cornell?

congrats on the interview LIzarDKing
As for Abram's question -There are alot things to be exicitd about Cornell. My reasons (not in order)
Reason 1. Top ten school (last time I checked)
Reason 2. It is in New York City (atleast the nice and quiet part of it.) For bars go to the village or SoHo. For recreation go to Central park. For drugs, drive by shooting (heheh j/k)Basically there is something for everybody this leads to clinical experience as well - you want you shall find it! Cornell has hospital affilates in the city and around it to get your hands wet.
Reason 3. You are done with classes at 1pm (most of the time). With PBL based learning - No need to spend countless hours at lectures.
Reason 4. The have money to lavish on their students (which translates to an excellent international opportunities)
Reason 5. Women look better in the city
Reason 6. Although Cornell does not have a cafeteria - Anything can be delivered.
Reason 7. Good Financial package - as far as I know
Reason 8. Research opportunities is tremendous - they affilated with Rockeffeler and Sloan-Kettering (which is the number 1 cancer center in the U.S.)
Reason 9. Women look better in the city
Reason 10. Close to home

MY OWN top ten REASONS:

1. international medicine (and they have a program in my native country Haiti

2. PBL/lecture combo (Contrary to what a lot of people are saying on SDN, Cornell is not 100% PBL

3. Research (there is a "Doctors with Honors in Research" program that gives formal recognition to those of us who like research but do not want to do the MD-PhD program, or cannot get into it a place like Cornell.

4. Diversity of the class 25% minority

5. Financial Aid

6. New York City (I have experience it mainly through hollywood thus far, so it would be exciting)

7. Prestige

8. social climate (when I visited, I just felt right with students and faculty and staff alike)

9. Haitian community in Queens, brooklyn
10. everything above.

oh yeah? congrats.

Hey sicvic did you get into columbia??? and you would take cornell over it?

•••quote:•••Originally posted by trout:
•Hey sicvic did you get into columbia??? and you would take cornell over it?•••••I did not apply to columbia - At that time, I did not really know a whole lot about their prog. or the school. I knew the basics about it. However, I was going to apply but once I saw their application- I had a sudden AMCAS nightmare. Therefore, I ditched it.

But if I did apply- Choosing between Cornell and Columbia will be based only on personal taste which are blown out of propotions when it comes to rivarly.
I believe both school produce quality physicians as best they can. If I went to either - There won't be any significant difference of how good of a doctor I will become
So therefore we will be left with personal taste and I think at this moment- I would still opt to go to Cornell - If not I would be happy in many of the schools I interviewed or visited because at the end many medical schools produce quality doctors.
So for your answer- I really pushed to go to Cornell over Columbia because of their PBL prog.
As far as location and other stuff (they are not that much of big difference to me)
They are both good schools

anyone know what date cornell starts sending out post-interview decisions?

Late March I think.

I called the admissions office today, and they told me mid-March. So buckle-up for another two weeks or so.

keep in mind that their committee meets on wednesdays and if they accept, they email on a wed. i am suspecting that either next wed. (the 13th) or more likely the wed. after that (the 20th) they will send out their acceptance emails, followed by waitlist/rejection letters.

-i've already been through this once with them when i applied edp, time to do it again... sigh.

Speaking of Cornell,

Did that admissions dude come in with the glasses on the end of his nose???

Hahaha...why in the hell did he do that? He looked like a big dork :)

How many kids did they end up interviewing this year?

does anyone know if cornell is still offering interview? and also is there a specific day of the week they send that e-mail or could it be any day. I figured I'd not give up hope til the end of this week, but would like to know if i'm waiting for nothing. oh well...

I have a friend that just got an interview request last week. Good luck!

i was the very first person interviewed at cornell this year_ on 9/12. my claim to fame.

•••quote:•••Originally posted by LBJeffries:

hey choker better than the first rejected!!!! :p

900 eventually

900!?! For only 100 spots? That means that there will be........lets see........(thinking really hard)......800 disappointed people come the middle of March. Here's to beating the odds!

they told us it was closer to 844...and they accept like 222...622???, wonder if it is like the great waitlist (like another school) or at least they kill the suffering immediately?

Hey trout, did you change your original post? For a while it looked like you said that they were interviewing 1200 this year. Whew!!

lbjefferies-
I did...when I interviewed there I could have sworn they said they interview between 1000-1200 (which seemed really high to me) [I have to write things down or I get bored and my mind drifts...I have to admit I sometimes can not stand listening to how great and wonderful our school is (even though in this case yeah I know it is  ) So I had written in my notebook ~8-10,000 apply and about 1000-1200 interview, but on usnews it says the ~800 so I figured since everyone is on pins and needles, that I wouldn't cause anymore panic...but I kinda wonder how many they interviewed????

Morninglight got into Cornell today! She said she just got an email and that there were a couple of other recipients as well. I guess Cornell is sending a few acceptances before the massive one in mid-march.

Wow..wild...ah well..not on that list :(

I hear Cornell has some really nice finaid packages..would have been nice :)

Not on the list either, oh well. What kinda financial aid does Cornell offer?
