I'm having a tough time deciding between the 2 schools.
(-) denotes pro
(<) denotes con
Downstate
-patient population is interesting and varied in urban setting
-is in NYC (Brooklyn)
-seems to have the more modernized curriculum with side tracks
-1.5 year pre clinical
<large class sizes, impersonal feel (190 students in the class)
JABSOM
-is in Hawaii
-small class sizes and personal feel of the school, administration gets to know you (70 students)
-big fish small pond effect for me, possibly good for residencies
-they seem to have their stuff together in logistical and administrative matters
<2 year pre clinical
Thoughts anyone?
