That just isn't true though. I got an interview with a 3.2.

Same here my undergrad GPA is pretty low 3.08 SCI and 3.28, my graduate is 4.0, but still, pretty much the undergrad is the go-to GPA for the schools. I'm interviewing until January though.

Can you post a screenshot?
Here you are 🙂

That's kind of odd. Do you mind sharing your stats? I would think if you have good DAT scores, they'd still consider you even if your GPA is lower than a 3.4!
I'm not great at test taking so my DAT is 17 AA... that might have just been their polite way of saying the GPA and DAT combo won't work! It is just irritating because I had a bad first year of college 13 years ago (literally all D and Fs). Then I dropped out and started college again once I was mature enough to handle it. My GPA would be a 3.7 if it wasn't for the first year of college I guess we will see how all things work out in the end!

Anyone interviewing October 22nd? Message me if you'd like to share an airBB hosted by one of the dental students at MWU!

Sorry I didn't see this earlier. Actually guys this is why it is important to apply early. When did you apply? I know at least one school where the dean tells the admissions what the average GPA is that they want and admissions have to try and make the average GPA what the dean wants. If for example Midwestern AZ invited a lot of lower GPA earlier on, they now have to make it up by inviting a lot of higher GPA if that makes sense. That's why they said in the email "at this time". Maybe earlier they were inviting a lot more lower GPA but now they have to invite more higher I guess. idk this is weird lol

I actually interviewed on October 9th, but ended up withdrawing my app, because I did not really like the school that much compared to my first few interviews and it was more expensive than both. So, I wanted to give someone else the chance to hopefully get accepted since I had no interest in going there.
That's nice of you to do 🙂

Do you mind sharing what you didn't like about the school?

Don't get me wrong it's a great school, but I interviewed at Detroit Mercy and Pittsburgh beforehand, and I just liked both of those schools a lot more. I liked the environment and faculty at both of those schools, and both Detroit and Pittsburgh have a great city feel. Downers Grove just did not seem like the best environment for me, and the tuition is incredibly high and the cost of living there, so I just did not think it was worth going there and spending 4 years there.
Thanks for the reply 🙂

So, did you interview at Midwestern Illinois then (the campus in Downers Grove) as well as at Arizona?

Ha thanks, I had figured they had passed me over. They sent me an email at 4 am as I was flying home from my interview at UNE this morning. I opened it right away, so I must have been the 1st one of the group to schedule the interview, and the earliest date was February 7th!

I received an interview invite and will interview on Nov. 26. Anyone else going to be there?

Hey guys, for those of you receiving interviews, what states are you guys from? And also, I just sent out my secondary application today. Is it too late to receive an interview invitation?
Stats:

I'm from Florida.

I submitted on September 24th, and received an email invite on October 3rd.
Wow! You're one of the lucky ones who got a pre-December interview date....good for you 🙂

Would you mind sharing your stats?

Hope your interview goes well !

No worries. And I submitted my application on June 20th

Hello, interview questions i got at MWU-az.
1. Would you rather be perfect and late, or good and on time?
2. If you have a pt in the morning running late, and your next pt is an important case that you can't make late, or push back. How do you handle the late pt?
3. What are 3 things that you want to be known for, or 3 things that will define your legacy.

GL, super chill interview. Great school.

So, what's the answer they are looking for here?

I have an idea regarding how I'd answer it, but I'm not sure it's the "right" one....just wondering what others would say....

Well that takes the fun out of it. There's definitely wrong answers, and right answers. My advice is think outside of the box, and try to remember as a dentist you have a duty to your patients, and a duty to your dental office. Goodluck! Im sure you will be fine. If i can get accepted anyone can. The faculty interviewing you are just trying to see if they can stand to be in the room with you for 10mins. Relax, they see people who can barely talk because of shakes and nerves, those are the same kids that have a hard time on practicals with nerves. So don't do that, don't over rehearse, think before you speak, try to be yourself, people can tell if you are being fake or genuine.

Just a heads up guys, don't memorize your answers (with exception to the common few). The questions that were asked of me during my interview were pretty different from those of PartiallyDerived

PartiallyDerived is already attending MWU as a D1, as you can see their signature states "class of 2022." Those were questions asked in last year's cycle. I already saw earlier posts saying the questions are different this year so be prepared to be asked anything, including these "what would you do?" scenarios.

I agree. My questions were different than anyone else’s. Also, I don’t think there are right and wrong answers. They want a feel for how you would react in certain types of situations. If you don’t know the answer to a specific question (meaning not a “what would you do” question) don’t be afraid to say so. If are asked a “what would you do question, just answer honestly.

Yeah I agree with posts above, those were my questions last year. There were many interviews from different faculty, with lots of questions. I was just trying to give you guys some idea of what could be asked. Just be yourself.

Does anyone one portal show a matriculation/deposit fee in the accepted student section?

I tried so hard not to check the portal since the phone calls are so much more exciting....but I lost all self control and checked! Accepted via portal! 🙂
