If anyone is interviewing on Oct 30th, please PM me......trying to see if people want to split costs on either a hotel, rental car, shuttle, or just hang out in vegas after...might as well right?

I'll be interviewing on the 30th of October, although I might withdraw if I hear positive news from DMU or other schools in the meantime.

i am planning on just driving there the morning of and driving out the same day... its about 4 hours

My AACOMAS app was complete on 8/30, I applied to 13 schools, and this is the only school I haven't gotten a secondary from. I definately meet their minimum MCAT and GPA requirements. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on? I'll gladly wait, this school is pretty high up on my list. It would just be nice to hear something from them.

I remember they were slower. I've heard they do screen(?) although I'm not entirely sure for what.

They screen you out if you have a MCAT below 25 or a cGPA/sGPA below 3.0

i am not too sure, but I am assuming that since this is the only medical school in the region, there is no other medical school to compete with?

but i heard the building sucks

There's also UNLV (MD program). I imagine there's some competition between the two.

There is no medical school at UNLV. It's at UNR. Most students in the MD will do a majority of rotations in Las Vegas but a lot of those are at the university medical center and in the past their class size has only been around 60. With how many hospitals Vegas has I dont really see it being an issue and I haven't heard of it being so from Touro students.

Well that's pretty cool. I figured the MS3s and MS4s would be competing for a lot of the same spots. Good to know that's not the case.

This. I grew up in Vegas. I'd seriously rather get a root canal then go to The Strip. Downtown is a little better but its nothing crazy.

Nothing in particular. I think you have good access to good hospitals and although I don't know for sure I can't imagine anyone being forced to leave the area because of a lack of sites. We have A LOT of hospitals and multiple trauma centers, peds hospitals, etc. The M4's I've talked to seem content and the schools in a great location. There's nothing I can say that's negative about it. It could just be that I'm ready to leave Vegas for awhile.

There's outdoor stuff to do but not many people are into it out here. Red Rock has great rock climbing and there's a lake nearby.

Kraft boulders is the best and you don't need to pay to go there (for bouldering)

See, this is why I avoid going clubbing in Vegas. I really can't afford that cover. Girls have pretty good luck though.
