So I just finished my interview and am waiting in the airport. Here is what I got from the experience:
The morning started off with a long intro from Oscar and he was quite helpful and informative. He answered a handful of questions and explained what he thought would bring us success in our interviews. After Oscar finished up there was a short bathroom break and then the dean came in to explain the curriculum. He was also quite informative and first gave a brief overview of the 4 years then he went in chronological order in depth about each one. He obviously couldn't explain every detail but he provided what I feel was sufficient. Then it was time for interviews/tour. There were four separate study rooms each hosting two faculty members whose names and email addresses are provided on a sheet you get to take with you (a neat feature). The interview itself was in my opinion too short. It would have been nice to have a little more time at the end to ask questions or whatnot. 20 minutes evaporates pretty quickly. Anyways, the interviewers were very welcoming and were in no way intimidating or interrogative throughout the interview. Expect a few of the standard interview questions and some that are tailored specifically for you. As with all interviews the best advice is to be yourself and this is truly the best advice, it makes the interview go by much smoother. Depending on your group you will interview then tour or tour then interview. The tour was....well pretty much what you would expect from a school that's in a warehouse. However, the facility is technologically sufficient and had ample study areas. The library is expectedly small (mostly digital) and the bookstore is also quite compact. After the tour Christina presents on financial aid and this is pretty cut and dry. After that we spoke with Oscar one last time on when to expect decisions and what we should and shouldn't do while we wait and after the decision has been reached. Finally, they feed you pizza that complies with Kosher mandates, ie there is no mixture of meat and dairy products. Yuppers this means that cheese pizza, veggie pizza, and mushroom pizza were the three flavored we were offered, no pep for the traditionalists 🙁
Finally, while we ate a 3 student panel came in and for me this proved to be the gem of the day. They answered questions were they weren't going off on tangents but overall their perspective I believe is invaluable.
In summary, the fellow interviewees were all friendly and nice, the interview was pleasant but short, the tour was as expected, and the student panel was impressive and fun.
If I missed anything please let me know but hopefully this helps all future interviewees and applicants. Good luck those who interviewed and to those to come.
