Nah, those aren't the places you go to in AC. Firewaters, Irish Pub, Mur Mur, places that have all the AC wealth pumped into them so that they're really crazy. I don't gamble so I don't even go to that part. You'd think that Tropicana is a satellite campus of my college because it's packed every night. Everything is close together so you can hop from one place to another, anything from karaoke to sports bars to dance clubs to cafes is all right there. There are no old people anywhere around these things!
The other bonus is how cheap it is compared to Philly. To go to Philly from the NJ suburbs you have to pay tolls to get in from NJ, pay for parking, pay to get in the club, and then pay for drinks. At AC you can drive right in with no tolls, park for free at the casinos by getting a free card, and there's no cover in the good places because they want to lure college kids in. You can even get free drinks if you stop on the casino floor. Now when you're a poor med student and AC is only a few minutes further, which do you think is better?
I go into Philly more than I like to. Just the other week we went to Tiki Bob's...LAME. A tiny little room with an open floor and a bad light show. With a cover to get in. We left after an hour and went to the place next door...also no good. But so expensive! And that's pretty representative of the other places I've been to there also.
If I want to listen to the orchestra or go to a museum...Philly is the place, don't ge me wrong. And I'll root for the Eagles until the end. But if I want to have fun, AC. In high school the underage crowd would try to get into Philly. Now I don't know a single person who would want to go there if AC was in driving distance. Philly was cool in high school, AC is cool now.
The one downside of AC = smoking is not banned yet.
