lol---not at your or with you...but really just a sad, anxious and pittiful laugh. That sucks. The process really does suck to.
 
Anyone heard from Phoenix yet? Did they already start sending out the emails?
 
I just called the admissions office. All the acceptance emails have been sent.
 
I called Tucson, can someone call Phx, though I'm pretty sure they already sent theirs already. Here's to March 12.

I sent them an email a few minutes ago...I think it would be a safe assumption that since PHX only had 48 spots (and Tucson had 110) then PHX had plenty of time to hit send to everyone. 🙂

Oh well...
 
I got into both....Tucson and Phoenix

I cannot breathe. This cali kid is leaving for AZ!

So, you are in at Wake, Case Western - Waitlisted at Mayo and G-Town, great stats and didn't get into either AZ school? 😱

The admission process at AZ still eludes me...in more than one way 🙂

I guess I'll be the non-winner of the day to ask those who were accepted to post their stats and their secrets...someone has to ask.

Hey cyto2path, congrats on Tucson! I picked Phoenix on my campus preference form, though I am still waiting to hear back from a few other schools that I've interviewed at.

Dude, I totally hear you. I had friends last year who got rejected/waitlisted at AZ last year who were very competitive applicants at top schools. 😳

The crazy thing for me is that the phx campus is my second choice school and my first choice I really am unsure of the likihood of me being accepted.
 
I got in at Phoenix, which was my preference - the email was sent at 8:05. Last initial S.
 
Wow, so you got in at Phoenix and not Tucson? I got a Tucson acceptance but no Phoenix and Phoenix was my preference.
 
I didn't hear anything from Tucson. But I was under the impression that if you were accepted at both but put Phoenix as your preference you would only hear from Phoenix...? Maybe that wasn't the case.

On a side note, I think I know you - you were in my interview group at Tucson. Aren't you the one that said you had two kids and were going for pathology? And interviewed with the GI doc? I was the one that majored in nursing and then decided to do medicine instead. I'm glad we both got in 🙂

I do, and I really am happy with my acceptance to Wake Forest, so I have nothing to complain about...just kind of suprised to not get any love from my state school...I guess you were very right early in this thread when you told me to be careful about saying that AZ was "one of the easiest schools to get into given its great applicants to accepted ratio."

You have acceptances as well don't you?

Yes! That would be me! I'm glad we both got in too! I must admit that I am holding out for a spot in Phoenix though. My family (really just my 13 year old) won't be happy moving down to Tucson!
 
Don't give up hope for the waitlist 🙂 And at least you have a backup just in case.

I guess I got rejected at Tucson, since it seems like some people that listed Phoenix as their preference still heard from both campuses. My interviewer at Tucson asked me where I was hoping to go and I said Phoenix...so maybe that sealed my rejection. I'm just glad the waiting process is over, and I'll be in med school in the fall.
 
Accepted at Phoenix but not at Tucson at 8:02 am. I'm happy with it.

Yep, I still dont understand the logic for the separation. Even if it is to allow time for withdrawals, how does delaying applicant notification change the outcome? Wont the same people be selected off the waitlist no matter when or how many people withdraw post acceptance? Maybe they're hoping that a few people will feel so sad and dejected that they will withdraw pre-waitlist notification. Now Im answering my own questions, thats healthy. stupid empty inbox

This is my very first post on SDN, and I applied to the UA and didn't hear anything today. 🙁 I was wondering if anyone knows whether the waiting lists are ranked and if we will be told our rank number. To those of you who got in--- CONGRATS! To those of you who now have the pleasure of waiting another 9 days to hear something (including me) I wish you good luck!!! (why is the UA torturing us?!)

In the past it is ranked and in previous years you were told your rank.
 
I just emailed Tucson and Phx campus regarding the size of the waitlist. It is a ranked waitlist, I think we find out on the 12th if we are waitlisted then it is ranked at a later time (later in the month). Then you are given a number and we go on the hay ride until school starts.

Confirmed Via Ann, 100 Applicants on the Tucson waitilist. I am awaiting a response from Tara regarding Phx. Good luck on the 12th everyone, I have my fingers crossed!

AHHH! I think I am going to die from all the waiting!! We have to wait another few weeks before knowing our rank?!?! and...100 applicants on the waitlist? that is crazy! Do you know typically how many students get off the waitlist??

They usually have pretty good waitlist movement, at least at UA Tucson.

The process is definitely a unique one. I have lower stats than most of you guys. So if I've learned anything, its to not it too personally.

Yeah I do, and I am also pretty happy about it, so I don't have anything to complain about either. I'm not sure I would have given it up for Tuc, but Phoenix I really liked.

Good work, my guess is that they will have ~50 at phoenix this year (if they keep this proportion the same as Tucson, which is double in size)

Last year, I think they had about 50 or so move through. But I am expecting more this year. For one, because people can get acceptances at both (and this is proven by some lucky ones today!) a lot of people may be double accepted. Impossible to say how many, but I would bet a lot are. Also, phoenix campus has doubled in size since last time. I will guess, 75-80 in total will move this year. This takes into consideration some double acceptances, the larger size of the phoenix class, and assuming the same accept/matriculate ratio trend is observed this year.

I am not going to assume I get a waitlist though. I have long believed that if UA doesn't accept me right away I will be one of those people who is surprised not to get a waitlist either. We'll see....

Did you get a response from Tara yet? I remember her saying that Phoenix would send acceptances and waitlist notifications on the same day, but Tucson would send their waitlist notification on the 12th. Has that changed?
 
Yep, Phoenix waitlist is coming out on the 12th.
 
Yes, today. She said that the final waitlist is not even compiled yet... that they have lots of work to do.

I did recieve an email from Tara. She stated it will be on the 12th with Tucson's, along with final decision (denials). She said that the final waitlist number hasn't been finalized, she is thinking it will be around 30 applicants on their waitlist.

Furthermore, I got an email back from Anna stating that the total number of applicants considered this year for the Class of 2012 was the following:

Tucson-574
Phx-510

They went through 54 on the waitlist last year. Hope this helps for us Class of 2012 Frightfuls! AAAH!

Thank you! I was on the waitlist last year, so it can be done. Also, I'm convinced that the U of A loves reapplicants. Keep that in mind.

well, I've got a tucson acceptance with a 99% chance of being turned down and available to one of the wait-listers.
too bad I can't open up bidding for it...
but that's one more person who didn't get an acceptance who's going to be going to U of A med next year, so don't let it get you down.

Im an econ student, and if you mentioned the idea of putting an acceptance on auction (assuming equal desirability among candidates) to an economics professor they would give you a big fat kiss on the lips. At my school they auctioned off office space in the econ department and gave the proceeds to a scholarship fund!
