You know, I thought I would be more active when yesterday came, but it is getting depressing to just congratulate people and them not showing up again for maybe weeks until they have a question. I think the same will happen in the RoT thread.

This is why I feel for Aggie08 so badly, because she (I'm guessing) was so active on that thread and even stopped by here, only to be in the same boat and me and mlc.

I don't know; it could just be me. I don't know if I can handle anymore good news and deal with it vicariously. It seems too much right now.

At any rate, I don't want to rain on people's good news, but thanks for the well wishes. We'll keep holding on.

MCAT: 10-11-9 Q
GPA: 3.17 from UCLA if that matters
1yr postbacc GPA: 3.6

TCOM was my only tx interview...but i had a few other acceptances at other DO schools

i was talking to my advisor.. and she was telling me about 3 people she knew personally who had 1 interview and 1 acceptance, and 2 of them were off of a waitlist... so no need to be so sad now. i'm keeping myself busy... trying to.

and i'm keeping hopes up for all of us out there waiting (plus it's only day 2).

It's funny because I feel like I've known many of yall for a while because i've been on sdn so m uch in the past month or so.

It's always amazed me just how quiet this thread has been over the recent weeks but the same people always seem to be posting and have great enthusiasm for TCOM.

I was looking at the numbers and it seems that TCOM made over 330 offers at various points last cycle and only interviewed a little over 600 people. So assuming this year follows the same pattern and on the basis that you and mlc both interviewed, it seems like you have a GREAT shot at getting in. The pre-match continues until the end of the year and looking at the RoT thread it seems like a number of people have offers to both TCOM and other TX allo schools. Some of these people will not go to TCOM in the end and so there are still plenty of places up for grabs. Many people will matriculate who didn't get a pre-match offer on the first day.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you guys because it's clear that you really want it. I got in and now it's your turn.

hi mlclonghorn and flushot - my 2008 app magically appeared on my status page yesterday. but i was too bummed too write until now - it said something to the effect of "your app has been reviewed and results have been sent via mail" - in other words, the big reject. so i think it's really a good sign that your status still says "under review". i really wanted to stay in tx, but i am thankful to be accepted to other oos do programs. i'm still pulling for you guys!

Flushot! Don't get too down in the dumps right now. There is still a LOONNNGG ways to go in this application cycle. I was disappointed I didn't get into any of the UT schools I interviewed at but was absolutely thrilled to get accepted to TCOM and Texas Tech in Lubbock. So, I know that I want to go to Tech more than TCOM (just a personal choice, I know TCOM is an awesome program) so early next week I will be RELEASING MY OFFER and I hope that others who have chosen not to go to UTHSCSA will release their offer also so I may have a chance to gain a rolling admissions offer there. So....with that said, there will be one more spot open at TCOM that I hope you get the chance to fill!

Ah I see. Thanks for sharing what happened, even if it is a little bummer. I'm glad you have other offers, so well wishing for where you decide to go.

utjsm, thanks for the encouragement and congrats again about Tech (I saw in the RoT thread). I'm starting to shrug it off now that it has been only 1 day.

briton, thanks for the encouragement too. I didn't want to really rag on those who might've just popped into say the good news, but it was more of a backlash than anything. I'm very happy for you guys and I hope the best wherever you end up.


And mlc, like everyone said, it's only the beginning, so there's lots of time for potential good news.

this is my first post, but i've been a long-time lurker of this thread. i figured it's about time i posted something. 🙂 this is my second year applying, and unfortunately i didn't get a prematch offer last week either. i've only interviewed at tcom...both last year (got waitlisted) and this year so far...but i absolutely loved it both times.

anyways, just wanted to put that out there. you're not alone flushot and mclonghorn! hang in there! like everyone has said, it's still early.

Yes, when i interviewed, the man who gave us the powerpoint presentation said that the pre-match offers would come out around the 22. Maybe he meant late interviewerw would get a pre-match around the 22. So don't worry if you have not received one.

It's so strange because we all have apps that are very near each other in terms of numbers, so maybe they held us off for something.

I actually interviewed on 9/16, so that's why I'm a little worried. Still, I could be pushed off a little bit into the next round of deliberations, but I think my case is a little bit up in the air. If ya'lls interviews weren't that long ago, then there's probably good news coming around the corner.

I stop by the RoT thread sometimes. They have some good advice here and there in between their conversational posts. I think one user has accumulated 400 posts just by hanging out there 😱

Well, the primary reason I don't post on the RoT thread is because TCOM is my one and only interview for TX and go figure, I want to stay in TX at all costs. They do have a good discussion going for the other schools, but yeah, kinda gets you down about the 7+ interviews people are tossing around 😳

Yeah, I wonder how they would factor in a student's desire to go (post interview) if they knew that their school was the one in only. Because on the flip side, there's an LOI for someone who has chosen TCOM as their #1, but, yeah...

Yeah, I figured they didn't know. I was curious about the effect.

Pre-allo had an interesting thread about how much to say when an interviewer asks you how many interviews have you had. It's like a written law to not bring up another program while in the hot seat, but it seems like a cornering question.

It's far too early to even think about the LOI thing, so we'll give TCOM some more time to make some very anxious people very happy 🙂

Thanks! So far it looks like that is where I will be going next year. As far as the admissions office, I always get "terse" replies ....but that doesn't stop me from bothering them. I mean if you're gonna tell me two weeks ago in an e-mail that my app. would be reviewed in the "next couple of days", I would expect some sort of decision by now even if it is not an interview. Anyway, hopefully they will give us some word soon!

utjsm08, what was the deciding factor for u to pick Tech vs TCOM? I was very impressed by TCOM, and not so much by Tech. Most of my family and friends are rooting for tech, so i'm trying to choose. Was there something at Tech i missed? may be u can shed some light on this for me.

I am right there with you all, crossing things that I didn't know could cross, begging my "under review" status to change...

Again, I am OOS with a 25 SEP interview. Like some of you I have been accepted to other D.O. schools (Western, DMU, and AZCOM). My wife was leaning toward Western, but we are increasingly convinced that TCOM is our first choice. Lots of satisfied customers there at TCOM... also, the setting certainly fits us and our interests in quality education for a comparatively bargain price. This is all in addition to my amusement and curiosity in Texan pride.

Uh oh, if that's the case, then it might not be looking good for me. I interviewed fairly early (9/16) and I wasn't in the first run.

This Friday seems like the latter interviewee's time. That's pretty good for you guys though! I mean, it seems like most of everyone still waiting on SDN are people who interviewed much later.

i actually do remember him saying that they were not handing that many pre-match offers but not about mid-December. It makes sense though if it is mid-Dec since we interviewed only a week or so before the pre-match.

Also, I am not sure if pre-matches come out every friday but i sure hope so.

I got a response from my e-mail today....and I was told that whoever told me my app would be reviewed 2 weeks ago was mistaken because there is no way of knowing when a certain app will be reviewed! I was also told that I have had no status updates on my app and that they STOP giving interview invites as of December 12th.....👎

BOOOOO I am mad 😡
