Mine could have been on the 30th also but Fridays are better for me so I wont have to miss any classes, Can't wait though!! 😀

Same here thitchcock! What a relief huh?! Sept 30 boiiiii

I got the email within three hours of the call.

i could of done mine friday. but I have only one class on thurs, and three on friday including an afternoon embryo lab....really sucks.

What times are your interviews? Mine are back to back 115 and 200pm, is anybody's else like this? That seems a bit rough, no prep time between interviews and no leeway to run over the time limit on the first one.

My interview is on Friday October 1st, but I have not received my email. I called on Monday.

okay. so i haven't checked my status in forever. and then on tuesday i check and it says "you have been invited to interview" but i hadn't gotten a call or email or anything. so i called and they acted like they almost didn't know who i was. So I am really confused. I think when they typed in my name they might have spelled it wrong. I don't have a traditional spelling of a very traditional name. but still. this is really weird. I am not sure what to do.

This happened to me too. The committee has just handed too many invites down at once and the wonderful lady (Caroline) that does the scheduling is trying to keep up. She'll call you when she gets to you. And congrats!

Well I did get a hold of her and I couldn't go on the first two dates she told me over the phone. Then she sent me an email for a thursday interview the day before my friday interview at UT Houston. I live in Austin....and that weekend I happen to be going to Dallas for the UT-OU game. So I would have to drive from Austin to Dallas to Houston to Austin (to meet my friends) to Dallas. No thanks!! and i would miss a lot of the stuff in houston thursday night and such and I have had the interview scheduled longer. I emailed her back asking to reschedule and haven't heard anything. this was friday. I think she just might be annoyed with me. and i am not sure what to do.

Can someone please post the secondary application questions?

PrincessBP, I am in the same boat. I am sitting here on Sunday night and decided to check my status app, cuz like most I am anxious as can be. Lo and behold it says " You have been invited to interview" No call or email or anything yet...but im so DANG excited im shaking!! This school is my number one pick!

I hope they arent kidding/screwed it up somehow haha, but seriously that would suck. Weirdest part of all...I sent my secondary in this past thursday...weird!

Same story= Same boat?
My app was literally just transmitted the 15th. I set my account up and it says I've been invited to interview. No way they reviewed my App that quick. Hmmm... lets hope I get a call in a few weeks.

I can't believe interviewing season has already started! I'm a current year 1 and enjoying it! Just wanted to wish everyone good luck! I'll be the student giving ya'll thumbs up as i pass by the glass holding cage hahaha.

I'm a nervous wreck! my secondary was completed on 8/10 and i still haven't heard anything from TCOM! TCOM is my #1 school! my stat: cgpa 3.3, mcat: 28...are they too low for TCOM?

No fluke... Interview 10/8!!
Transmitted 9/16
Secondary 9/17

I interviewed here on Tuesday! It was my first interview so far. Everyone was really REALLY nice. My first interviewer was awesome, and I walked out of there thinking I nailed that interview at least. The second interview was okay, but I didn't feel like it went as well as the first. Both were pretty conversational though, and there weren't any questions that were too far out there. I interviewed with two MDs though, and was surprised by that. I thought I'd get at least one DO.

The campus was really small (I'm not used to that because I come from a massive school), but nice. There's an awesome new building on campus that the first and second years have their classes in. And it's in a really nice area of town. I'd be really stoked if they actually let me in!

Now I just have to buckle down and wait for November 15. And hope I get some other interviews, too. :xf:

I'm currently doing my SMP at UNTHSC, and that new building really is nice! I had a couple classes there during the summer semester, and I was slightly envious that the TCOM students would be using it for the fall/spring semesters haha!
It does seem like you should encounter at least one MD, but almost all (if not all) of my professors so far have been MDs, and they're the same professors for the TCOM students.

So the interview is 1 on 1? I just came back from another interview and it was 1 on 3 panel interview. Was a lot more nervous because of the ganging up.

Dont worry, you only have one interviewer at a time.

I don't have any problem at all with profs who are MDs. I just want to get in somewhere 🙂

Wow, that's intense. Nothing like that at all. What school was that at?

I interview at TCOM soon. When I interviewed at UNECOM it was a panel of 2 PhDs and one DO. I am looking forward to the one-on-one interview!!!

That was AZCOM, though its my #1 OOS DO school at the moment, I still prefer any school in my home state of Texas because of tuition.

Anyone have any advice?

Thanks all!

Does anyone else out there in SDN have an interview on Thurs? If so, are you guys getting nervous like me? At this point I only have 1 interview, and even though TCOM is my number 1 choice, I do not want to blow it somehow...

Any suggestions for interview prep from all those who have interviewed so far?

Also, when do you find out who is interviewing you? I know that I read somewhere people were like "know info on your interviewer" but how are u supposed to know?

Good luck to everyone who got an interview! does graduating from UNT (undergrad) make a difference if you want to apply to TCOM? Do we get some sort of advantage from graduating from their undergrad programs?

Unfortunatly... No. Haha. I graduated from UNT, and then I graduated from UNTHSC, and still no advantage... Lol. But! The good news is, if you go there, you get to keep the same student ID number! Yay.

This school was my first med school interview, (like first week in Aug) and after going to a few other schools I can tell you that this school is truly awesome! I just wish I didn't have to wait till Nov. to (maybe) find out. 👎

The interviews are a little more intensive than other schools though (I had 3 x 45-50min 1-on-1's, I'm DO/MPH) where other schools are 1 x 30min 2-on-1 (which I think are easier).

The interviews are very, very relaxed and conversational. The interviewers are not out to get you in any way. My first interviewer spent the first 10 minutes just chatting about the city and such and then started asking some questions, but they were all typical interview questions (why do you think you would make a good doctor, what makes you different.. etc). The entire time it was very relaxed and I actually enjoyed it. I also asked alot of questions and we would just talk about them as if we were having a casual conversation.

The second interview was a bit more structured, but again, it was very relaxed and I had a good time just talking with them. I was very comfortable the entire time, but this interview did ask slightly more difficult questions but nothing outrageous (they asked me some "doctor situation" questions).

I came out of both interviews extremely pleased and both interviewers seemed to really like me (not to sound pompous). Everyone else being interviewed seemed to agree and said the same thing about all their interviewers being extremely nice and relaxed.

Also, you find out who is interviewing you when you check in. You are given a folder with your schedule for the day, including the interview times and the names of the interviewers (plus a nice pen!). There is someone there when you check in that will guide you through everything. You can even ask them about your interviewer and they will tell you what they know about their style, or what they might ask.

And since I only applied for DO, there are 2 interviews instead of 3. They are a bit lengthy since both of mine were around 30min+ long, but they aren't exhausting in the least.

I also have a "gut" feeling about getting pre-match acceptance since I received an invite to the interview only a few days after submission of both TMDSAS and secondary (assuming that this can even be used as an indication of anything), plus the interviews went so unbelievably well. I hope I'm right!

Good luck to all, and don't panic or get nervous. Just enjoy yourself.

Thanks so much for the info, it really does help.

I too only applied for the DO program. So i only have 2 interviews.

I have had a gut feeling about this place being where I spend the next 4 years since I found out that there was a DO school 35 minutes away from my home. I went to the website and loved everything I read and found that much of how I want to be a doctor and what kind of practice I would run coincides perfectly with how they create doctors. I loved it. They even have a research thing I would love to do called CAMSTRR.

I also got an interview invite 2 days after submitting my secondary, so I hope we both are correct on getting pre-matched!😀

As of 9/30 they have interviewed ~400/750 possible candidates for the class of 2015.

Very impressed by the new facilities that should be fully accessible next year.

1st interview was crazy fast, finished around like 15 min.

2nd interview felt good.

I was there today also, 10/1... nice interviews and tour, definitely like the Osteopathic side of medicine

I just checked my status and too realized that I have been invited to interview. Were they just like not planning on telling us? That's kind of hilarious, in a sick sick way. I guess they're trying to see how badly we want it.

It was nice meeting you on 10/1 at TCOM. Good luck!!

Hey Brad did you also apply to MSU COM, my wife is from up there and so I decided to apply there also, which means going through AACOMAS, I already applied to all the MD schools up there through AMCAS and the TX schools through TMDSAS, this is getting expensive!

I'll be there Oct 19th, any advice!? Very excited, have heard some amazing things! 🙂

Didn't know you can find out online. Caroline gave me a call on a Saturday, which I totally did not expect! I don't pick up unknown numbers but I listened to her voicemail and called back within 15 minutes.

The interview was GREAT! There were groups of about 5 that interview at different times with different staff. I arrived at 9:20 and one guy already finished all of his interviews. So depending what time you get there either way at 11 you get into orientation about the school and then lunch and then tour and if you're done with interviews you can go home. My interviews were after all of that stuff. But the EAD room is going to be the first floor, NOT SECOND. I was going to go to second but good thing I didn't! Be relaxed and have fun! Everyone was very nice!

I have my interview at TCOM that day too!! Caroline G. seemed so sweet every time we talked. One thing I was kind of confused about was the fact that when we first tried to schedule the interview, she asked if Oct. 15 was okay, but I had a really important doctor's appt that day, so I explained and asked what the next available date was. She said it was November 23, but when I was actually able to reschedule my doctor's appointment and call back to check the availability of the Oct 15 date, she said that the 19th of October was open instead... Interesting... ?

In any case, I am EXTREMELY excited about interviewing at TCOM! I'll probably see you there, LibbyJ, and good luck!!😀

She did seem so nice! I thought by calling they would get mad (you know, how sometimes they don't REALLY want you to) but they were so nice. Oct 19th was the first day she gave me, so I said absolutely! I am excited also! I have worked with a few DOs in my local ER, and they talk to highly of their training, and I love the TCOM website...helpful, informative, and encouraging (COME TO TCOM! haha). I will see you there, 10am check in time, but my interviews are in the afternoon (also right after one another!!!).

No, I applied to UNECOM. The AACOMAS application was not too bad. Good luck with everything.

Where do LoR's need to be sent for TCOM?

I'm interviewing there on the 21st! Did anyone just drive in that morning? I'm coming from Austin... but I'm not sure if I wanted to do that or not.

Kinda risky in my opinion. I haven't been to TCOM, but I have been through the DFW area, and from what I remember the traffic isn't great. If you're gonna do it, definitely give yourself a good bit of cushion. Also, make sure you're not too tired from the drive.

That's definitely not advisable as you don't know what you might run into (like traffic). Plus the drive is far, especially from Austin. You would have to drive all night to arrive there by morning, and you still need time to get dressed/groomed. Plus, you might become exhausted and that's never good. There is a Marriot that is literally like a mile from the school and it shouldn't be too pricey. I recommend going the day before and getting there during the evening and relaxing the night before at the hotel. But ask about check-out time because you wont be done with your interview schedule until at least 1:45, and that's assuming you get the morning interviews (some interview schedules start at 1). If that's a problem, I guess you could check out before the interview and just go back to Austin when you're done.
