*waves* 🙂

I'll be there, somehow... I'm flying there directly after my interview at the El Paso med school, so it'll be straight from one end of the state to the other, plus the time zone change means I'll be getting in to Hobby a little after 10. Fun, fun 🙂

10pm isn't too bad--the interview day starts at noon the next day so you are welcome to sleep in as much as you like (I know I will).

I guess the noon start time is a double-edged sword, especially for me. I am flying in from California and for all my other interviews I have flown back right after my interview ends on the same day. With Baylor I am practically forced to stay there an extra day because there are no flights that leave around 9pm going back to california. Ugh, that just means another (useless) night in the hotel and even more money down the drain. I really hope Baylor gives me a student host for two days.

I'm flying out from California too, but I'm taking the last flight out of Hobby at 7:20 and just skipping out on dinner/drinking. Not happy about it, but hopefully I'll get a chance to go on the tour, see everything I want to see, and save myself $100 in the process.

What does this message mean??

"Your application is complete and has been reviewed by the committee.
We will let you know something as soon as we are able.

Baylor College of Medicine interviews from September through February.
You are eligible for interview consideration through February.
Records are updated every 24 hours."

Did you call and ask if you could do that? I called and they said the interview day ends at 7pm, and then only after that do they have the optional dinner/whatever. From the looks of it, you will definitely miss the tour and basically everything except the actual interview.

I emailed the Admissions Office and they said that after the interview nothing was "mandatory", but I think it's highly recommended to stay if you can. The dinner, the clinical tours, and the student presentations are kind of lumped together into a three hour block and I'm not sure how that runs. Then the social gathering at Rice Village is the "optional" part. Hopefully I can get matched up with a student host to get some questions answered and hang out around the Medical Center in the morning without missing too much by leaving early.

Anyone that went to interview have specifics about the schedule of the day (i.e. more than what's in the invitation)?

the social gathering is what occurs after 7 pm. i didn't go to that last year and it really doesn't matter.

you will want to stick around for the tour and presentations. we got boxed dinners to eat while they were talking.

I know there aren't many accepted in the first batch from Baylor but when is the first day they are offering acceptances? Anyone know?

I think they said today or tomorrow.

No one has heard today... so hopefully tomorrow they'll send out acceptances.

I just want to get in somewhere now!

I think they said today or tomorrow.

I thought it was the 15th, but the admissions web site says Oct 16 earliest. Does anyone know how they send out notices? Email/Phone/Mail/Status Page?

I think they call... don't know what time of day they do it though.

any word? anybody? are calls going out today??

Got a phone call from Dr. Michael about two hours ago to notify me of my acceptance! I'm in!

I was in lab when he called my cell, stepped out and took the call when I saw the Houston area code. Needless to say, I wasn't able to focus the rest of the lab afterwards, haha!

cool! congrats JJ! wonder if that means they aren't calling anymore if it was two hours ago..

I keep getting random calls today and they all get my hopes up.

So far just JJ (Congrats, again! I would totally do that banana dance if I got a call today). And now my phone is doing the low battery business..

I PM'd jjabrams to ask about the interview date. I wonder if it's too early to hear back if we interviewed on 10/3. The only date before that was 9/19...

I interviewed on 9/5...My guess is yes, too early for 10/3...but I could be wrong.

Amen, sistah! I don't know, isn't too encouraging that it's 4 o'clock already... if JJ heard 2-3 hours ago, then they're probably finished making all of their calls right? It doesn't take that long to call 25 people..

I interviewed on October 3rd. Friends are meeting me at the local pub for a happy hour celebration...so I'm out of here. Best of luck guys!

If there's one thing I've heard from my friends at Baylor, it's not to freak out if you don't get in right away. 🙂 Most of them had to wait until AT LEAST November, so don't worry!

yah, i'm not freakin' out yet. in truth, i would have wanted to hear back soon so i can cancel some upcoming interviews and save some airfare...although maybe with gas prices plummeting i won't have to worry about it.

Ooh, what did you say your favorite food was? 🙂

Congrats JJAbrams!

No, I wanted to know, too, actually. It's not just shemarty. 😛

The 9/19 interview date was cancelled b/c the area was still recovering from Ike

how do yall remember folks? i can only remember about five faces from my interview day. goddamn, i'm totally a texan.

Well, I'm just hoping he's the guy who chose blueberries. Cause that guy is clearly pretty awesome.

Other than that, I probably wouldn't know who he is.

My non-SDN classmate also got the Baylor phone call today. If I recall, I think she interviewed in early September.

Congrats to those of you who have heard! To have ANY acceptance so early is a gift, and to have a "top 10" acceptance is an extra-special gift - to those of you still waiting, be hopeful and good luck. If anyone has any questions about Baylor, I'd be happy to answer as someone who came to Baylor from an OOS school and has since left for an OOS residency program. It's an absolutely phenomenal place to be educated. And if any of you are coming to Baylor for sure, let me offer you a hearty welcome to the Baylor family!

Did all the calls go out today or is there any chance of calls tomorrow?

These people are awesome at answering questions that I don't ask them. Am I the only one the do this to? I called to see if our status would change if we got waitlisted or rejected and she told me that they don't reject people this early. I was like oohh okay...wait... what? I think that's how they get you off of the phone quickly. They make you so confused from your first question that you forget the second one. Anyways I'll just ask ya'll. Anyone knows how often acceptance calls go out? I would've asked them but I am no match for the question answering ninjas :ninja:

Congrats to those of you who got accepted and good luck to those of you who are waiting to hear back after an interview. On the status page, it has said your application has been reviewed and we will let you know something as soon as possible. It has been like this for over 3 weeks now. Is that basically a "hold". I wouldnt be too surprised because University of Chicago and University of Michigan both put me on hold and the message and length of time it has been up sounds like a hold. How long did it take for you to hear back for an interview invite after seeing the reviewed message?

Hopefully this week more calls go out.

My status page has said that for a long time...I'm REALLY hoping for an interview invite from Baylor!!!

So does anybody know how often Baylor makes the acceptance calls? Is it once a week or every other week or once a month?

I am pretty sure that on interview day they said that they meet every two weeks, so I would assume that is how often calls are made.

I haven't heard anything from them yet. My status page just shows that I have been reviewed. Do they look at Texas residents first? I'm from a neighboring state with ties to Texas, and I think my application's okay, but I'm afraid I may have been rejected...

yeah...i'm afraid too! "Reviewed" since 9/9.

Mine doesn't even say reviewed and I finished it in September. IT still says that it is under review. Wahhhh

That's not too bad; I finished mid-August, and it said "under review until literally the last day of September. So if it took a month and a half for the August people to get reviewed, you might have to wait that long or even 2 months. Just be patient, they'll get to you 🙂

i called at the end of last week, and someone from the office said that they were running late this year and wouldn't start calling till this week... weird?
