Since my application has been complete since august, would it be alright if I called the Director of Admissions to ask about the status of my application? Or would that be too much?

The addmissions office told me that they would have my descision to interview or reject emailed to me on Monday. Feb 2, 2009. I don't know if that applies to everyone or just me. Just thought it was a usefull piece of information.

Would they contact you on that date or do you have to call back? I am waiting to hear from them as well.

They just told me that they would be emailing me my decision on that date. If I don't get an email, I'm going to call them to clarify what I was told previously. I figure I have nothing to lose.

For anyone who wants to go to Creighton, I just got an interview so apparently they're still giving some out.

I just got an interview too! There are only 3 dates left from what I can tell. Saturday February 21st, Friday March 6th, and Saturday March 7th.

Add me to the list of happy recipients! It'll be the 21st for me. So happy, first one.

Crieghton only interview through March. Wow. They end their interview season early, don't they?

Congratulations! From what I hear it is an excellent school and a very nice interview day. Hopefully I'll see you in August!

Hey all, glad to see that so many of you are getting interivew/acceptances. If anyone has any questions about the school or the area, shoot me a PM, and I'll do my best to give ya an answer.

Thanks. So do you have any first-hand experiences to share about your interview? I want to prepare myself as best as possible considering it's the first - and most likely the only - interview for me.

I hope you get your acceptance from them soon, and maybe we'll see each other in August assuming I don't blow it!

I haven't interviewed there yet. I will actually be interviewing there on March 7th, so you will interview before me. I had a friend that interviewed there and really loved the place. I will talk to her about her experience and pass along any useful information that she can give me.

I got my official WL letter today in the mail. Does anyone know if the admissions committee considers new MCAT scores for WL applicants (taken before the 5/15 re-review date)? Also, can anyone comment on when we can expect to see some movement off the WL (mostly end of May, or through July, etc.?) Thanks and good luck to everyone still interviewing.

Even though a waitlist isn't what you were looking for, congratulations are in order because you're still in the running. I don't know much more than you, but I did read somewhere that ~50% of those that interview are accepted, meaning that there is a lot of movement on the waitlist. Oh, I also read that the Adcoms like to see LoI's and update letters. I would probably take all of this with a grain of salt, but LoI's and updates can never hurt your chances, right?

Anyways, good luck. By the way, did they ever imply that they are at capacity for straight acceptances and that they are pretty much only offering waitlist spots? My interview is like the third to last date they have and I'm a little worried since it's my only interview thus far.

You have to remember that the 50 percent are on the waitlist (yet to be accepted) and 50 percent are given outright acceptances. So its hard to tell how much the waitlist moves. But, the high tuition should help out.

Thanks wepio and congrats on the interview invite as well! I'm really pulling for those of us with perhaps less competitive stats than most on this site 😳 and in terms of interviewing for WL spots I doubt that would be your case since I interviewed back in 12/5 and I know of several people who interviewed before me that also got WL so I think if they really like everything in your app they can just accept you since they had no qualms about WL people who interviewed back in September, etc. Perhaps I'm looking too much into this, but good luck at your interview and maybe we'll see each other next year :xf:

I'm confused. So, they basically reject very few people post-interview?

(~50% accepted) + (~50% waitlist) = not a whole lot of room for post-interview rejections.

Regardless, I like these odds a whole freakin' lot better than what I originally thought. 😀 Thanks for making my night!

Rejected by e-mail which said snail mail will follow. Glad I will hear twice 😉

Apparently, they have finished giving out interview invites for this year.

"The Committee on Admissions for the Creighton University School of Medicine has completed its review of the applicant pool for the 2009 Freshman Class. Unfortunately, the Committee has determined that it will not be able to offer you a position in this year’s incoming class and must, therefore, decline your application. A formal letter will be forwarded to you."

I haven't received an email rejection or an interview...what is going on?

Same here, Runningdoc. Apparently, we were not worth the time to be rejected?

Haha yes-I saw your name in the MSUCHM thread as well. We must really suck:laugh:

Thank God I can laugh about that.

Yes. Thank god. Good luck to you!

any1 else hear anything from creighton...? still haven't heard anything from them..

hey, has anyone who interviewed recently heard back yet? Do they really respond in two weeks?

when did you interview? anyone else heard yet?

Yeah, it was weird because I interviewed back in 12/5 and didn't get my decision until beginning of Feb. But part of the delay was waiting on my quarter grades and all the holidays. Good luck.

does anybody know when we get to find out about the scholarship that we filled out last month and if we get any $$$ from creighton

Hey everyone! I interviewed 1/9 and heard back about me being on the waitlist about 2 1/2 weeks later...so I think they were trying to catch up...at my interview they said they were behind due to the holidays but I think they are caught up now.

Anyone else on the waitlist? Is there anything in particular you are doing to get off the waitlist? It just stinks not knowing anything until after May! Good luck to everyone!

was waitlist by snail mail? I interview two weeks ago this past Friday.. guess its not good news for me...

Don't get too bummed just yet, Creighton is weird about calling some acceptees and not others. Creighton is pretty solid when it comes to sticking to that two week deadline they talk about during the interview. If I were you, I'd just give the Admissions Office a call on Monday and put the issue to bed. Best of luck.

I hope that you are right. They told us 2-3 weeks. has anybody heard who interviewed three weeks ago. I don't see a lot of post on this forum lately... crossing fingers...

I got a letter in the mail earlier today. I interviewed about three weeks ago.

Hello! I was informed via snail mail about being waitlisted. But I would call if you don't hear something soon...everyone in the admissions office is really nice. Good luck!

when did you interview?

I interviewed 1/9... here's to big waitlist movement this year!

Anyone from 1/16-1/17 dates hear yet?

They reported 2-3 weeks, and that's past, so I'm just curious if other people have also been waiting or if the thread's just quiet.

Do we know when they actually meet to make decisions?

anyone who interviewed the last two weeks of January hear anything yet? Its been 3 weeks already... getting scared

So does anybody (current medical student, Omaha residents, people who have already interviewed, etc.) have any suggestions on how to fill some down time? I'm arriving sort of early the day before and not leaving until the day after my interview. I rented a car to help a bit. Thoughts?

When I interviewed, I also allowed myself a lot of down-time. I just drove around to check out restaurants/shops/places to hang out.

From what I can remember, there were a lot of malls West of Creighton, along with a lot of the suburbs. I remember seeing a Wal-Mart, Costco Wholesale, and a Red Robin (the Red Robin was still under construction... otherwise I would've really wanted a hamburger, fries, and Italian soda, haha). I also remember the Old Navy in one of the malls was having some crazy sale ($2 per item clearance).

The Downtown area is pretty nice also with a lot more variety of restaurants.

I also checked out parts of Council Bluffs, Iowa, since I've heard that a good number of med students live there (across the river).

I hope that gives you some ideas. I would also get some visitor/tourist information from the info desk at the airport when you get there. They have some pretty interesting maps with landmarks and stuff.

I called Creighton today to check on my status and was told that I am accepted and will receive a letter by the end of the week! 😀 I interviewed on 1/23.

Congrats! Is Creighton your first choice?

Thank you! No, it's not my first choice, but I really enjoyed my interview day there and think that Creighton is a great school. This is my third acceptance so it's nice to have options and I'm going to keep my acceptance there for now. I'm still waiting to hear back from the schools I would consider my top choices.

i just got an acceptance too! i am so happy. its probably one of my top choices...
