How long has it taken Dartmouth to enter your letters of recommendation as received?
I wasn't checking every day, but probably less than a week after they received them (by mail)

it took them one day to enter in mine this week; their admissions is great

I sent in my LOR in about 3 weeks ago. I emailed them yesterday to check on my status and they send had just put the LOR in my file today. So if its been more than a few weeks I would try emailing them.

I called them today and she said that we won't hear anything unless it's an interview invite. ie Adcoms may have put us on hold and we'd never know.

Me three.. complete since 7/23.. 🙁 bummer.

How did you send your LORs? I should have arrived there about 2 weeks ago but nothing yet.

i sent mine by snail mail. they were taking a while to get there so i called admissions every other day for about a week. finally i called and the admissions lady went to look through the news stack and said they had just come in. i was complete ten minutes later. i would call call call, they seem not to mind any question you give em there. they really are great

Has anyone interviewed at Dartmouth yet? I have my interview there in late October, and am having trouble scheduling my flight there from California.

If so, which airline carrier did you use? Which airport? There are so many different options.....

Cheers!

I came from California as well. Prepare yourself for a LONG day of traveling. I left LAX at 10 AM and didn't arrive in new hampshire until 10 PM.

I flew United Airlines because Southwest didn't have any flights that matched what I needed. I recommend flying in to Manchester (which is what I did). The Manchester airport is about an hour and 15 min drive from the dartmouth campus, so youll have to rent a car or take a shuttle (shuttle option is very expensive). If you are under 25, you can still rent a car its just a little more expensive. You could try and find a flight into Lebanon airport but they are very expensive and none of the times worked for me.

The drive to hanover goes by very quickly and and is beautiful (in the day). I recommend getting a car with a navigation system because you wont have to worry about getting lost. It is literallyh pitch black when you are driving and you dont wanna get stressed about getting lost in an uknown area. It was very easy, I just typed in "dartmouth college" and my car told me where to go. And it was only like 10 dollars extra. Definitely worth it.

If you are trying to catch a flight back to Cali that same day (i did) you can call dartmouth and let them know and they will schedule your interviews at the earliest times (1 and 130) and then you will be done by two pm. You will make it back to manchester by 330 at the latest so that means you could probably catch your flight at 430 at the earliest. Mine left around 530. THe only downfall of this is that you will miss teh optional tour of the medical campus. So, its up to you whether or not you want to stay an extra night. I wnated to see the emdical campus (just a few buildings) but in the end it was better to leave that day.

Any other specific questions, feel free to PM me. Enjoy the interview! It is a beautiful area, amazing hospital, and an overall very relaxed day. Good luck!

So have they rejected anyone yet... as far as the rejection thread goes..nothing.

Hey man,
I interviewed in Sept, and I actually used to Lebanon Airport. Its really really small..like really really small, just a heads up. Its pretty close to the campus, like 20 mins drive, and you can rent cars n all there. I wld recommend it if you dont mind small airports...
downside is that their flight schedule is v. v. limited...i think a total of 3 incoming and 3 outgoing flights.
But hey, its near dartmouth, and you dont spend as much driving.
Tho u can take a shuttle from the boston/manchester airport straight to hanover.
And ya, I think I used US Airways, cos its currently the only airline operating into the tiny airstrip, tho thats soon about to change I think.
PM me if you have any more questions.

does anyone know how they take calls asking about app status? Ive been complete for a while and I know theyre office is extremely helpful, but has anyone gotten any luck asking about the progress of their app through the committee? Thanks!

I called and asked. Basically, got a "be patient" response. But the admissions office is really nice, so maybe it's worth a try!

I think it's definitely taking at least a month for people to get news...so if it hasn't been that long, I would sit tight. But of course they are indeed super nice so it won't hurt to call.

It's been over 2 months for me. But she said I have to wait 3-4 months before I can complain.

Does anyone have an airport recommendation (Manchester vs. Boston)? I know Boston has the direct shuttle service, but Southwest flies to Manchester and I can redeem a free flight (I can't find any up-to-date info on any shuttles from Manchester to Hanover).

Thanks

I'm with you guys, complete 7/22 and nothing but crickets. If you call, they are nice, but don't give any useful information - just "be patient". Le sigh. Oh well, I wasn't holding my breath for this one, it's a long shot.

Me too. Complete 7/15 and nothing. I'm beginning to sense that's trend with most of my schools. My guess: I'm on hold at all of them. Not strong enough to get an interview right away, but also not weak enough to be rejected straight up. 🙄

So any idea when Dartmouth sends out their first acceptances?

The lady that spoke at interview day made it sound like they could send them in early october, but i havent herad of anybody who has been accepted yet. Based on their whole "batting average" thing, i'm either expecting a rejection i'm expecting not to hear anything until like April.

Definitely fly into Manchester. It's smaller and often cheaper. They also have a bus that goes right to Lebanon, NH (the town next to Hanover) its convienently called the Dartmouth Coach. There is even a Days Inn within walking distance from the bus station. And the Medical campus is about a 7 minute drive from there.

By the way I am from Lebanon, so if anyone wants truthful information about the area I'm more than happy to answer any questions 🙂

Whats the whole batting average thing?

Whats the whole batting average thing?
They rank you in different aspects...each adcom has a vote....they average them out and if your average is 0.800-1.0 you are accepted right away, otherwise you have to wait for them to lower the threshold. They said last year the lowest accepted was like 0.680 or something.

Can you find out what your avg is?

You guys... I have an average GPA and MCAT but might have some weird and wonderful things for my extracurriculars.

Should I still bother submitting my secondary at this point?

i always say go for it. first of all dartmouth does like weird and unique things i THINK. but anyways, if you have the money, always go for it... this is such a crapshoot anyways and you only do it 1-2 times in your life. go for it, NO ONE knows what will happen

actually, that being said, anyone know about what complete dates are getting interviews right now? any news there?

I called shortly after my interview to cuz i had a question about the whole batting average thing and how it worked.... during the conversatsino the person I was talking to mentioned that you will never know what your "batting average" is so dont even think about asking for it, even if you are accepted.

Hey Guys,

I don't really know if Dartmouth takes many out of state students...do you think an Alaskan Resident would have any realistic chance of getting in if they had really good numbers? I'll be applying in a year and an debating if I even have a chance here!

Thanks

Don't they have google in Alaska? Dartmouth is in New Hampshire. Their's ~ 53 applicants from New Hampshire.

I've been waiting since July and I just got an interview, so I assume a new cycle has begun... I've already got an acceptance to Case, is Dartmouth still worth considering? Anyone visited and have an opinion?

If you arent set on Case then definitely visit. Its a great school and a beautiful campus and surrounding area. Very laid back students as well.

Is there a consensus on the best/cheapest way to get from Manchester to Dartmouth? I saw some shuttle mentioned earlier but I couldn't find any websites/information about it. Thanks.

I could be wrong, but I seem to recall there being a Vermont-based bus line that will take you from Manchester, NH to White River Junction (located just across the Vermont border along I-89). You'll need to arrange transportation to Dartmouth after getting there, but I would guess that it is little more than a short taxi ride.

If your search fails, try Greyhound. I'm pretty sure they make that trip as well.

Does anyone know if I interviewed in sept and havent heard yet..should I expect a Wl or rejection?

the lady that spoke to us said not to freak out if you dont hear right away....it doesnt mean you are waitlisted nor does it mean you are rejected. She said that the people who interview early may end up with the longest wait, depending where they are on the scale.... so no i dont think you should be thinking wait list or rejection. Her advice was just to be patient and be assured that they havent forgotten about you.

Damn, I must not have been paying attention during the informational session, haha.

does anyone know how many ppl dartmouth invites for interview?

Accepted!!!! I'm so happy!! I can't believe they accepted me after my atrocious interview though (think Sarah Palin but worse) ...

Yeah, that's what I figured. Ah well, I wrote the world's worst secondary essay for them (seriously), so I'm 99.9999% sure it's a moot point. 😳

Anyone still doing the secondary for this school? 😳

Heh, should I bother sending in, or just save my hundred 100 bucks.

Btw, I heard the average GPA is 3.7 and MCAT is 33...isn't this the same for Tufts?
