So I've heard. It just clicked for me. I don't know what else to say. I could see myself being incredibly happy there for four or five years of school.
does dartmouth reject anyone pre-interview before march?
I don't understand why no one else is talking about this school. I just came back from an interview there and it absolutely blew me away. Going in, I looked at it as an okay choice if I didn't get into a few other schools I had already interviewed at, but it's basically the best place I've visited so far. Stunning campus, gorgeous area, amazing opportunities. The school is an absolute gem, marred apparently by it's lower-than-Ivy US News ranking.
How often do they add scores to applicants?
No dude, it was like a shopping mall. It was VERY VERY nice. I overheard bickering from people about the patient care they gave there at a restaurant in White River junction that night though, so I cant vouch for how good it actually is.
It was 2 elderly couples and one was telling the other that one of their friends was forgotten about in a waiting room for 4 hours and another that was admitted wasnt fed (by accident) and after she told the nurse that she hadnt eaten in 24 hrs it took another 3 hrs for them to get her soup. Basically some really neglectful stuff assuming her side of the story was accurate.
Hey, just saying...Lolz, discounting elderly complaints as loss of memory already. Geriatrics in the future or what?
When we were there I noticed 1 volunteer in the entire hospital. Given the area, I am not surprised that they have a volunteer shortage.
All I want to see is the student housing and the area itself. All libraries look the same, all anatomy labs look the same, and all lecture halls look the same. None of this will ever, ever, ever affect my decision, so why bother me with it?
Rant over!
Lecture space is getting to be a big deal for me. Particularly, if the school doesn't have sufficient desk space. I am not looking forward to spending 2 years taking notes on a 9" x 12" pull out desk. I want tables where I can have a notepad, powerpoint printouts, and my laptop all laid out.

lol what the hell is in the area of Hanover, NH
Hello my fellow Dartmouth hopefuls. I'm writing with a heavy heart today as I just recieved my rejection letter from my absolute #1 choice school, hoping someone might give some insight since I know it is likely pointless to call the school for a reason.
Briefly, I am a NH resident for life so this is the only place I have any pull I guess. I applied last year and was granted an interview which went great, however I was placed on the waitlist. I wasn't too discouraged because it was my 1st year applying and my MCATs were below their average and I didnt have much clinical experience. For the past year I have been working full time at a hospital as a clincal researcher/physiologist. I also retook the MCAT and improved from a 30S to a 34S. My undergraduate GPA was 3.95 (however it was at a state school). I was an NCAA all-american in track in college, however I also worked part-time which left little time for volunteering, etc. I completed a Masters in Neuroscience at a highly ranked Canadian school. I submitted my appy earlier than last year hoping for a fall interview....and now this, a "I'm sorry" letter.
Anyway, do you guys think it was just because I had applied last year and didn't get in...I mean I was waitlisted afterall so doesn't that mean i was close, haha. I really can't figure out how my application can improve and yet I get a worse result.
Thanks my friends, and good luck to you all with Dartmouth! Wish I was meeting some of you up there this year at an interview, I love it up there.
As a fellow NH resident, I can tell you that Dartmouth - out of the goodness of its heart (rather than state obligation) - strives to fill 4-5 of its class spots with NH residents. Seeing as you have nothing to lose, I would definitely suggest getting in touch with them and appealing your rejection. Mention things such as your lifelong "dedication" to New Hampshire and the aspects of the school that you're attracted to. One issue that Dartmouth does struggle with during the application cycle is finding applicants who will be happy in the rural town of Hanover. As the largest state represented in their applicant pool is California (and of that state, most are from larger towns/cities) they will definitely appreciate knowing that a native New Hampshire resident would love to take advantage of Dartmouth and its surroundings. You can certainly call them, but you should also follow that up with a strong letter of intent that better conveys your primary message. It may not work, as I do not know their policy on update letters/appeals (their website is somewhat terse/badly organized). But, you really have nothing to lose, and if nothing else, echoes of your interest might carry through during the next application cycle.
By the way, your application sounds quite strong from your description. Barring any surprises that we are not aware of, I would say that this decision is a good indicator of just how unpredictable/unfair this process can be. Best of luck to you!
pre interviewwere these rejections pre-or post- interviewing? i haven't heard a peep from them since i was complete....

Have any of you who have been accepted recieve christmas cards/personal letters from your interviewers? I just did today and I thought it was awesome.
I received a personal letter today. It was very nice.
Does anyone have a recommendation for which hotel to stay at? I have to stay the night after the interview, too, so if any are near something to do, that would be great.
Also, any recommendations on what to do in the area? Thanks!
You wont get anything...I interviewed in september and havent gotten any word.I interviewed a couple of months ago. Anyone know if it's worth calling to get an idea of when i might hear? I'm guessing it's not but I'm getting impatient with no acceptances yet!
Anyone know how DMS responds to post-interview LOIs? Is there a point? Should I do it in letter format or email format? I really loved the school.

This is your best bet - http://www.concordcoachlines.com/dartmouth_coach.htm
Pretty comfortable ride, and not obscenely expensive.
