About darn time, i gotta say.
Primary sent 9/21/2008 and a secondary email invite. WHEW!!! I thought they rejected me.
Unfortunately, I am at work right now and won't be able to do the secondary,(even though im on the computer right now...oxymoron?) but can't wait till i get back home and complete it thoroughly!!
I am so excited!!,
Question,Is there anything I can expect that is out of the ordinary? Like 8 essays Duke required?

no the secondary is pretty simple.. you should be able to do it at work.. i did.. just upload a decent picture of yourself when you get home.

I am pretty sure that a pre-med committee letter is the only one that is required. If you went to grad school and have a letter or have a letter from a doctor you should probably include that as well.

The website says "Please refer to your invitation letter for travel and hotel information." Is this referring to the e-mail, or were we supposed to receive an actual physical letter? My interview is this Thursday, and I can't find any hotel/motels nearby.

on the interview invite, there was a website that links to visitor guides. there were lists of student housing and hotels available. I emailed <[email protected]> for housing. I can't remember how far they were from the school, but they provide a car for interviewers to the school.
For hotels, you have a couple of options. You can stay somewhere in Center City and either take the R8 train to the Queen Lane Station (right by campus), or drive. You can also check the hotels on City Ave. (Hilton, etc.), which are just across the river from campus, about 10 minutes away. Other than that, you can check any of the local areas of Montgomery County (Wynnewood, Ardmore, etc.) that'll put you anywhere from 10-35 minutes from campus.
About the student guest house... are the rooms singles so that we don't have to share with anyone? Is there a dorm-style bathroom?
It is a really enticing option but I'm trying to figure out whether I would be better off in a hotel!

Yup, the rooms are singles and not shared. However, the bathroom is shared between 2 or 3 rooms, I forget. It's basically someone's house who has extra rooms that they're letting guests stay at.
Here's why:
When Drexel says "decision made, check your mailbox" they mean they've made a decision and are about to commence the sending process. They have to print out all the letters, proofread them, sign them, put them in envelopes, etc. and this may take the better part of a week. Then they get put in the mail and you have to wait for the mailman.
So..umm I was randomly checking my statuses on the schools that have websites to do so and saw that instead of seeing check status as the first hyperlink I saw a hyperlink that said something to the effect of schedule interview here... It said that I would be receiving an email sometime to invite me for an interview...either way I am stoked as this is the first word that I have heard from any out of state schools!!!
So the moral is to check up on statuses once in awhile in case you don't get the email.

I'm interviewing at Drexel tomorrow and staying at the Student Guest House right now. I'm impressed. It is very clean and spacious, and the host is very nice as well. 😀
How do you know when your MCAT scores posted? I couldn't find that on my status page.
ugh im nervous. i have been complete since 8/24 or something... and it STILL says no decision available... did anybody get rejected pre-interview... do they tell you if you are rejected pre interview... or does that horrid "no decision available" remain there until the Spring when you actually receive a rejection letter 🙁
It's tough, I know. Focus on your remaining apps and try not to dwell on it. Good luck.
You were rejected post-secondary, pre-interview? I thought Drexel was the silent treatment type of school.
Don't sweat it, with your MCATs you'll be fine. Your gpa will be excused a little because of your engineering degree. Good luck to you. My brother is a trojan btw.

I applied last year and the "no decision available" status stayed there the entire time. When I reapplied this year, my application was still in their system, and I never got a letter from them until August saying that my application for the 2008-2009 matriculation had been removed from consideration. Seems like they just forgot about/lost my application until they expunged everything from last year's cycle. Thinking I should just withdraw based on their seeming ineptitude in the application process.

Yeah, they did that to everyone rejected pre-interview... pretty unbelievable to not send a letter out till August.
that is really frustrating. i have been "no decision available" since august. i mean it's still pretty early but i would rather know if there is no point to me even hoping i have a shot a drexel than sitting an waiting.
i actually sent my primary there last year, but never submitted my secondary. i wonder if that looks bad and will affect my chances this year ?
It's actually not that uncommon. There are a number of schools that will do this, and it's certainly not unique to Drexel.
rush doesn't even send out letters of rejection. they just let you assume.
what was the name of your thread? maybe we should start a list of schools that does this.

The fact that a couple other schools do this too doesn't make the idea that students pay over $100 and the schools can't even send a letter saying "thanks but no thanks" until midway through the next application cycle any less ridiculous.
I have a feeling I'll be in the "no decision" pile for all of eternity now.

😀 Looking back, I wish I had applied to way fewer schools. Some of these were just a waste of time because I knew I wouldn't get in anyways.Me too. Whatever - I'd rather go to VCU anyway and I got an acceptance there.

Wow...didn't waste much time upgrading yourself to your "med student" status. 😀 Welcome to the school! If you've got questions, I've probably got answers. Now go out and enjoy yourself while I get back to studying for the massive triplet of exams we have this week.
