I just withdrew my interview invitation from Temple. Hopefully one of you deserving folks get it.

Does anyone know is the admissions committee is meeting today? Those that are accepted how long after your interview did you hear? Thanks!

I interviewed on wednesday. They said adcom isn't meeting this Friday. Some of the deans are out of town. So next friday is when they are meeting again.

hi, does anyone know how many percent of people on waitlist eventually get an offer? thanks

Has anyone heard back from the Financial aid office yet?
Thanks!

I recently got accepted a few weeks ago and I'm still in the process of filling out fafsa but I noticed that there is a March 1st deadline according to the website. Does that mean I'm screwed as far as getting financial aid or ???😕

Congratulations. If I recall correctly, the lady in the financial aid office mentioned that you should just ignore that deadline.

Just got a "continuing candidate" letter (dated April 3rd) from Temple... well at least it's not a rejection!

Any advice on what I should do now? I want to send a continued interest letter, but should I email it or send it via regular mail (and have it take longer to get there)? How does the adcom decide who to take off the waitlist, and how often do they do so?

anyone know Temple's last interview date? I got a vague "late April/early May" response today from admissions...

uh oh...

just checked my status...

YOUR STATUS: CORRESPONDENCE MAILED

i think i'm toast :scared:

me too! At this point I'd rather just find out I'm rejected to I have closure lol.

Don't worry guys, I got one too and I'm pretty sure it's the letter that tells us how awesome we are and that they're going to accept us without needing us to interview.

Does anyone have a sense of whether there are spots left in this class? I got a late interview invite (set for next week) and I'm wondering if I'm basically vying for a waitlist spot.

has anybody got in recently? i got a background check several days ago.... and Im anxious

I'm curious about this also...

i received my acceptance yesterday via snail mail. I interviewed March 23rd.

I interviewed today and they said that there were spots left in the class. They changed the way that they do acceptances so that they are able to continue to offer acceptances later into the cycle. Also they mentioned that they expected that there would be waitlist movement. They must place more people on the wailist who in past years would have been accepted off the bat.

Good luck on your interviews!

Here is to waiting a couple of weeks :scared:

thanks for the info!

I interviewed 3/12. Haven't heard anything yet, not even a website status change. Now I'm anxious. I had a really nice visit there, would definitely like to discuss with my family about going to Temple if I should be accepted.

I just gave up my accepted spot at Temple, good luck to you guys, hopefully somebody else on SDN gets it!

ATTN: Those who have been accepted,

Does anyone know if there is a way to change the location of which you have been accepted to for the clinical years. I originally wanted to leave philly for the clinical years but I am beginning to have second thoughts. Just curious if anyone has heard anything.

Thanks

Does anyone know when we can expect to find out our status if we interviewed at the end of March? They mentioned something about fridays but it slipped my mind.

Wondering the same thing...

When I interviewed they said that the Adcom meets on Fridays; however, there was no meeting last Friday because it was Good Friday nor will there be a meeting this Friday. So the last Adcom meetings are April 24th and May 1st from what I gathered. They might add in another meeting if they need to. Hope this helps! 😀

Yes, there is an opportunity to change, contact them ASAP.

Hey guys
I recently found out i was accepted on the webpage status. When I tried to make the tuition deposit, however, it says ,"Are you sure you want to submit your application. Information can't be changed once submitted."

I thought that was a strange message to click "yes" or "no" to before submitting the deposit. Did everybody else get that message or is something wrong with the system?

Thanks for your help!!

Hey guys...

I am a MSI at Temple. I know this is a stressful/exciting time of the year so I hope its going well.

About clinical campuses (aka where you do 3/4 year rotations)- they have been changing the way they assign these to students over the past year. The 2011 class had a lottery system where they literally drew numbers and then got to sign up where they wanted as their number was called. My class (2012) was assigned various clinical campuses, although we aren't sure how this will play out. I was accepted off the waitlist and got assigned a clinical campus. I have since put in multiple requests to change to a different clinical sight (in Pittsburgh) and it should work out fine. Basically, who knows where you will do your clinicals. Some go to a sight for the whole two years (like me) and some go to various Philadelphia hospitals for each rotation. Don't fret about it - its 2 years from now.

A word about financial stuff - Temple is expensive. But dont let that deter you from getting an incredible education. We have an awesome block system, have class till noon everyday, and two afternoon doctoring classes, and only take one test every 2 to 4 weeks. A lot of schools have many more hours of class and take a week of tests (like 5 to 7 tests!). Make sure you look beyond financial stuff. Anyways. Fill out your FAFSA asap - you want to try to qualify for Temple's scholarships. I originally got my award statement and it said all I got was loans. A day into orientation I found out I got an awesome scholarship. Basically, be open to what might happen and shoot for the stars.

Hope that helped. I may check in from time to time to answer some questions. Back to the joys of reviewing all the sensory and motor systems of the CNS (which we covered in two weeks)...!:luck:

PS - any So Cal kids out there? I am 100% from Orange County. If you are freaking about what living in Philly will be like - send me a message.

Had my interview today and LOVED the school, so much so that I sat down and wrote them a letter of intent as soon as I got home. I'm already admitted at Rosalind Franklin, but I'd give them up in a minute to get in here!! :xf::xf:

It's going to be an anxious week or so waiting for the decision ...

I guess im kinda out of the loop when it comes to this but... what is a letter of intent? and what its purpose? Just curious, even though I have been accepted already

A letter of intent is when you tell the school they are your #1 choice, and say you will definitely attend if they accept you. (The purpose, of course, is to persuade them to do so.) A letter of INTEREST is similar, but leaves out the part about committing to the school.

anyone know what day orientation starts?

Orientation will begin the morning of August 3 and Anatomy begins the following Monday (August 10th).

If you get it in and are coming, enjoy your summer and take the time to enjoy doing what you love to do. School will be busy, but fun. Anatomy is an awesome way to start off at Temple. You will make some great friends and smell like formaldehyde

tell us more!

is temple supportive to students taking a year off for research? hows the new building looking? everything else

I keep getting emails about Temple so I will try to answer a lot of the questions in this post. Here's a lotta random info about life at Temple (I am a first year student).

Our classes have about 180 kids. Its sweet because it makes for a really diverse group of people; you will definitely make some good friends.

North philly (which is where Temple is) is fairly rough but I am still alive after nine months. Although it can be dangerous, the school and hospital all have really bright flood lights that are always in when it gets dark. You will be fine walking to and from the parking garage and/or the subway stop nearby. You can always call for a security guard escort to the garage or subway stop.

Anatomy is the one course you will stay late or come in late somedays because you have to spend a lot of time with your cadaver to learn everything you can. The good thing is there are often other students around so you can walk in groups if you leave the school. Plus, there are security guards 24-7 at the entrance to the med school and hospitals. They go over all this stuff during orientation; obviously they want you safe.

The waiting period is definitely tough, but like me and every other med student, you will make it through. My biggest advice is take this time and the summer to enjoy having time to chill and read and hang with friends and especially for an out-of-state person (I am from California) - take advantage of your favorite coffee shops and restaurants, etc - most of them wont exist on the East Coast. Some will be here, but they might be way outside of the city.

If you do anything significant in the meantime with school/research/volunteering/TAing, etc send Temple (and all the other schools you interviewed at) an update letter. It probably wont adjust your rank or anything, but it certainly cannot hurt.

My favorite thing about Temple is the block system. There are six blocks in the first year – anatomy, Biochem, physio, endocrine/reproductive, neuroscience, intro to immuno/path/pharm. Basically this means you are in class from 8-12 everyday doing lectures and sometimes labs/lectures. Monday afternoon there are doctoring lectures and one other day of the week you will have you doctoring session, where you work with patient actors to learn how to take histories and do physical exam maneuvers. Doctoring is strange at first because its all so new, but it is incredible how much you will learn first year. I am really comfortable taking histories – just last week I took my end of the year doctoring exam (you meet with patient actors and get video taped; its fun stuff) and it went really well.

Because Temple is on the block system, we only take one test every 2-3 weeks. Some schools who have multiple classes will have a week of tests (like 5-7) which I hear sucks because you have go to back and forth between classes. It is really nice to only focus on one subject at time. Don't think that it makes the material easy by any means. It just makes it nice to not have to figure out which subject to focus on.

The new building will be sweet. Its huge and pretty. Our current library is WAY too small; there is never enough room for students so it will be so nice. Plus you guys will luck out and get the brand new state of the art anatomy labs.

Not sure about Temple letting you take a year off for research. You would have to ask. I am not interested in research so yea.

Good luck with the waiting and enjoy your summer! 😀

Its been kind of quiet, Has anyone heard anything recently?

No--I was thinking the same thing. I interviewed on April 23rd, which they said was the very last group. We were told there were 2 adcom meetings left: the 24th (last Friday), and today. I didn't hear anything from them after the first meeting, and it seems that no one else did either (at least judging from the lack of posts here), so today must be the day that my fate gets decided. I really loved the school, and it would be much closer to my family than my one acceptance or 5 WL schools, so I REALLY, REALLY hope I get in.

Good luck to everyone else who's waiting to hear.

i got in today 🙂 :soexcited:
but can't figure how much time i have to turn in the tuition deposit.
and can't figure out what clinical campus i got into.
can anyone help me?

You should be able to log into your temple account.. your status should say accepted then there should be a link for tuition deposit. I would do that ASAP. As far as clinical campus, You will get a letter in the mail that gives you all the details of your acceptance, including clinical campus. Hope this helps

Hmm, I can't wait until my status changes on way or another! All this waiting is killing me :meanie:

Status changes on Friday? But business hours are up and this is the last day right?! I have a feeling that my productivity for remainder of the afternoon is shot.

got an email.

It appears I interviewed the week after you. I really hope my status changes by next week. They may have needed to extend the number of adcom meetings if they've just now gotten to applicants from the end of march.

Looks like it. I interviewed on 4/23, and my status is still "Interview Complete." I wonder how backed up they are.
