So interview invitations are by phone. Are post-sec rejections by (subtle) status page checks or e-mail? (I ruled out the possibility that they'd call and tell you 😉)

Interview invitations are by email. I believe post sec rejections are by snail mail.

sorry to bump this but does anyone have any idea if they have a phone number? I seem to not be able to find it anywhere!
 
Has anyone talked to admissions at UCLA this week to get a feeling for when the first letters/emails of acceptance will be coming out? Thanks.

I actually just called today to ask that exact question. A lady (not the British-accent guy or the director) on the phone told me that decisions will be communicated to applicants starting January. She made it sound like decisions are being made everyday now, but they won't send out acceptances until they have gone through ranking a substantial amount of applicants. Oh the misery of waiting...

Anyone else besides thewendster get an interview invite lately? I've been complete for awhile now and haven't heard back. 🙁

I got one this morning. I was complete early august.

woa, how did they fit you in so early? I heard people being invited for interviews the first week of Nov were already being scheduled for Dec? did you get a canceled spot or something?

anyways, congrats 🙂

I was called on a Wednesday and invited to interview that Friday! I couldn't make it so I went down on the Monday (If my memory is right). So I had only a couple days warning. I'm local so I must have got a cancellation or something.

Yea I had the same thing happen to me. I was called on a Friday to interview that very next monday. The british-sounding guy told me that there had been a cancellation and due to my proximity to LA they decided to just invite me right then and there.

All I want for christmas (this year and next) is an acceptance from this school. In fact all I want out of this entire admissions process is an acceptance from UCLA and no other school.
 
I'm local too.. only 8 miles away. I wasn't told that I was filling a cancellation spot but that would make sense because the turnaround was so quick. I don't mind though because getting squeezed in before the supposed Jan 15th acceptance day might mean that I can be done with this hair-pulling process and be accepted by my dream school already =)
 
Invite me for an interview already!!!! I can't keep waiting, I'm looking like this --> :scared:

I don't think anybody here knows, unless it's somebody from last cycle. Maybe we could try calling the office to ask, but I don't know if they can give us that information...

UCLA is backpedaling on giving decisions. Now they're saying end of January, maybe beginning of February. Next thing you know, it'll be March. Oh boy...
 
Man, UCLA loves torturing us. I need them to grant me a freakin' interview already, dammit! 😡
 
Are there still invites going out? There must still be a few left, I would really love one too! UCLA is such a great school.
For those still waiting on invites, I called the admissions office to check on my app (I've been complete for a long time) and the woman on the phone told me I should hear back from them in January, after the holidays.

For you specifically (as in, did you give her your AMCAS) or for all of us stuck in limbo land.

Noooo...I'll be done w/ this process if I get an acceptance from UCLA, I wish they would just start letting people know!
 
I dont think that I gave her my AAMC #, I just told her how long I have been complete for.

-I could be mistaken about the AAMC # since I checked up on few of my apps yesterday, and I dont remebmer for sure which schools wanted my number.

It's two different people. What you are saying may be true. The person to ask is the director, but I've bugged her enough. Please call and ask her tomorrow for all of us. I'm not going to call again until mid January.
 
I did a rather daring thing (In my mind at least😉) and I actually went to the admissions office today. I asked when decisions will be mailed out, and he said they are hoping mid to late January at this moment. I asked if there was a cutoff date, and he said that another batch will be in mid march. I hope this helps. I hope UCLA sees how much I wanna go there, that I even went and took and extra 3 minute trip to the admissions office, and hopefully they will :xf:accept:xf: me😀.

It was real dedication. I had to exit BSRB, go across the street to CHS and walk 10 paces until I go to the admissions office. It was a tough treck... :laugh:
 
Is anyone still getting granted interviews at UCLA? A physician I work with at UCLA said he heard that they were done giving interviews, Honestly I don't want to freak anyone out, but I want to know this for myself... So, if anyone knows or thinks this is total BS... I would like to know.

Done giving interviews for this app. cycle or just done until the holidays are over? If he's saying done for the app. cycle, I call BS on that. I know many people from last cycle who were interviewing late into the cycle. I think some even had April interviews.

my brother is a third year at ucla. he interviewed in march. and he said a ton of interviews happen after the new year.

i dont know if it makes a difference, but he was off the waitlist. it seems hard to imagine many people turning down geffen, but the waitlist does move. so that's pretty good news.

I heard they usually accept 250 people total for a class of 120 something... I like those numbers...
 
Even though that is older data (2004), 2007 data shows similar numbers with 707 interviewed and 232 accepted (msar). Odds are against us! Hopefully luck will be on our side.
 
Guys, this is my only "go to" thread on SDN... I love checking up on how all of us UCLA hopefuls are doing. Thanks for the interview/acceptance fact sheet. I'm on pins and needles too.
 
Anyone know if there are different stats for disadvantaged students? Are they considered differently? Good luck everyone!!

Not to freak anyone out, but my parents just called - an acceptance letter from UCLA came today!!!

I'm not even sure if I believe it, since they've been saying so consistently that January was when they were going to start!

I'm pretty speechless, UCLA's my top choice!
