I interviewed early and haven't heard, is it appropriate to call and ask about my status, eg. if I have a realistic chance or not?
I'm going to guess that they wont tell you anything useful. They might say that acceptances can go out anytime between now and March, that's the standard answer I get from a lot of places. Maybe they'll tell you that no decision has been made at this time, that's also a common answer. You can try but I doubt the person on the phone can really give you any personalized, helpful details.

Yea, don't worry. Just wait until January when the "next batch" comes out. That's supposedly a big group, right?

hey guys

did all of you who have "letter sent" on your status page get the acceptance letter already? I was totally planning on celebrating myself silly this evening, but the letter hasn't arrived yet. I am not in cali, but not too far... getting kinda scared

I think the people who have already gotten the letter are in Los Angeles, so it probably should arrive soon for you!

after they receive your acceptance, does anything change on your status page?

I don't think they've received mine yet (I sent it from Northern CA at the end of last week).

crap i dont have "letter sent". i want this soooooooooooooo bad :xf:

dont quote me on this, but i remember that if u're an ucla student and log on to ur URSA it will show that you are accepted if you are accepted

Congrats to those accepted!

Looks like UCLA is starting the acceptances way earlier than last cycle. I remember last cycle they started rolling out around Feb.

Anyone know if interview offers have stopped until after the break??

Hello, it's probably too late to ask those of you who got interview invites, but is the transcript required for the 2nd app to be completed (before any interview invite)? I have only two parts that are marked 'complete' on the status page - 2nd received on 10/18, LOR received on 11/10. The 'transcript' part is still empty.

You only need to send transcripts AFTER you have gotten an interview invite.
Good luck!

Hi guys, I have a quick question about UCLA SOM admissions. I interviewed in early October (have not heard back yet). My status page has a transcript request that has been there since September, but I have yet to send in a transcript. Should I send in a transcript soon, or does UCLA only need my transcript after (if) I get accepted? As I recall, transcripts were already sent to AMCAS for the primary application. Thanks a lot.

I think they only need the transcript before matriculation, but I sent mine as soon as I interviewed.

I just ordered a UCLA Medicine hoodie. 😛

The only thing that could change my mind at this point would be a full scholarship to Yale or WashU, and I don't see that happening!

First time SDN poster. I just wanted to say hello to my future classmates. I got the letter yesterday and I'm stoked!

I believe you need to send the transcript in now.

If you've already graduated, I assume they're not expecting a new transcript? I assumed that I didn't have to send them anything, but I just wanted to check...

I think they needed official transcripts separate from what we sent to AMCAS. I graduated in '04 and they still wanted mine. So I think everyone needs to send them. Not sure if you would need to send them again after newer grades are released.

I was told during my interview that you only need to send in the transcript once you are accepted.

congrats to everyone whos received the good news!!!
my secondary was marked complete in august, but still no news regarding an interview...is there any hope left?
Would a letter of interest help?

There's always hope until you are rejected. If UCLA takes them (I think they do because people have been talking about them in this thread) then it certainly couldn't hurt. Unless you write like this: "I are best. Me likey school. Interview now or you hurt. Mmmm shiny"

 either I'm really tired, or that was hilarious.

I really wanna do this to a school that I have no chance at.:laugh::laugh:

do they even have one? some school's don't

Yes they do. I think it is in April... I remember the tour guide telling me that she knew after the second look that she is gonna come to UCLA.

Does anyone know if they notify you when they decide not to interview you, or do they wait until March just to keep you on your toes?

I dropped my Letter of Interest off in person at the admissions office today. When I walked into the admissions office, I was greeted by my first name before I had the chance to say anything! It was a really great feeling- it more than made up for my soaking wet socks and the 30 minutes of being hopelessly lost in the rain as I navigated through this foreign campus. They confirmed what we already know about the letters.. a "select few" went out already, and the big batch with go out mid to late January. One of my friends from the school said they had a group of interviewees in on Monday. Happy Holidays everybody. Special Shout Out to I-- ! ! ! I know you're out there somewhere =)

That's so cool, how do you think they knew your first name? had you gone in there a lot before or something?

No.. but I did interview about 3 weeks ago. They might have still remembered my face from meeting me then.

Yah, the guy in the admissions office knew I had interviewed also... except he did not know my name🙁... Hey, maybe they just reviewed your file, and were looking to see you for the next four years😀

Hi folks,

I got an interview invite on 12/15 and submit my dates on 12/16; do you know when will I receive my interview date(s) ? I want to call the SOM but I can't seem to find their numbers anywhere in their email or website ?

And do you know whether UCLA has accepted a lot of people this application cycle yet ?

D

Do any of those accepted have the Accepted Student Checklist on their status page? I'm not sure if we should be submitting any of these forms, as most seem to be for the class of 2012.

did you end up filling them out?

Hey Guys
Just wanted to wish you all the best of luck. Congrats to those who have already received that awesome letter from Parker!

Be patient, keep calm and enjoy the holidays 🙂

I look forward to meeting your class next year!

Cheers

I just received the secondary a few weeks ago, and I was wondering about the deadline. If it is January 1st, does that mean just the written portion or does it also include any letter of recommendations?

I'm not sure if January 1st is your personal deadline or if it's the UCLA deadline for all secondaries, but my letters got to the admissions office about a month after my assigned deadline due to a mishap and i was invited to interview ( i did submit the rest of the secondary before the deadline, though)

Perfect, thanks!

Yeah... I received the secondary very late, so my personal deadline is this date. But my letters won't be leaving until Jan 5th due to the holiday seasons. Thanks for the info!

i got my interview invite on 12/19 and submitted the dates on 12/21.

for those of you still waiting for interviews.. i was complete on 8/28.

Does anyone know if UCLA accepts update letters/letters of interest? They never pick up at (310) 825-6081...thanks

In response to above, I think they are not picking up because UCLA is closed until after New Years.

Does anyone know when they began accepting people last year? I was searching for the thread, but can't find it now?

Also, does anyone know what percent of people are accepted of those interviewed? 1/2? 1/3?

I don't know about last year, but several people in this thread got accepted in mid-december. Someone else was told that more decisions will come out in late january

i think the acceptance rate for people who got interviewed is something like 25%

are there any UCLA med students here who can comment on PBL? Is it too much, too little, worthwhile or not worthwhile? How significant a portion of the curriculum do you think PBL is?

Also, about the planned redundancy. How does this work? Do you really learn everything twice or is it more of a board review kind of thing?

Thanks!

Is there anyone who was complete in mid-Sept. that got an interview invite before the break? I'm seeing a lot of Aug. people getting invites and only a couple Sept. people. I wish they would show me some love and give me a chance. I'm tempted to storm the admissions office on Mon. :meanie:
