Haha, yeah I'm probably giving the old Cali perspective...the "no place is better than Cali" routine. It's not THAT bad, but there are those moments when you will get fed up of this place and want to fly home that night!
 
So how do these waitlists work in general. Are you ranked based on how badlý they want you, or do they just add you to the bottom of the wait list in chronological order?

supposedly based on how badly they want you. but i think its more likely they use darts, a blindfold, and our apps on the wall...
 
When I called right after being WL'd, I was told that they use no form of ranking and that they look at everyone's apps freshly when spots open up. I seriously doubt this, but it's what I was told in December
 
Hi all. I'm planning on doing the Cincy SMP this coming year and will also be sticking around during my gap year. Looking for someone to share an apartment with, hopefully within walking distance of the medical school. PM if interested.
 
The admissions guy mentioned, as we were all sitting in that conference room for the presentations, that the decisions would be available a) on the interwebs the day following the mtg, on medonestop and b) via phone call (? not too sure about this one... maybe i'm making this up, because I want to believe it to be true, haha)

Conclusion:
My understanding from his talk was that electronic entry of adcom results occur the afternoon following the mtg.

Just thought I might post here and say hello since there is a strong chance I will be coming here in the fall 🙂 Anyone doing a revisit and are there only certain months we can do this?

I just called the office and talked to Sarah, who was very nice, and here is the latest update:

The adcom decisions made last night are now up for review by the Dean, who is going to "take his time" going through them, making the final decisions.

Hence.

There is an undetermined period of time between on-his-desk to updated-on-MedOneStop.

(And I was wrong about phone disclosure--no phone disclosure.)

Trying to unclench🙂,

In the past it looks like emails have gone out either wednesday or thursday. And, as of 4:40 this Wenesday, its looking more and more like a thursday-week
 
Is 3/12 the only interview date that is yet to hear something?
 
3/4 as well.

When I talked to Sarah, she tried to not get my hopes up about being one of the discussed this meeting, saying that it takes 4-6 wks at this point, but I think the last batch of people that heard went through 2/27 (?), so I can't imagine that 3/4 were left out this week.

I'm sure it would be best to go sometime before May 15th for those of you who have yet to make a decision on what school you want to attend. I know I'm still trying to decide between UC and 2 other schools. I'm down for a second look! Maybe we can try and get a group together and all go on the same day. Anyone else interested?🙂

There was someone else from DC on 3/4? You must have been the efternoon group?

Anyone have an idea when the 3/12 interview group will hear? I was hoping for this coming week, although that seems to be looking unlikely...

I'm going to withdraw as well. Just can't convince myself to go back to the cold!

5,6-pentanol? I haven't taken ochem for a couple years but that sounds like an impossible way to number two -OH groups on a 5-carbon chain lol

and I think the suffix would be -diol

Also, I didn't get an email today. I got one on Tuesday though with an attached doc to return to stay on the alternate list.

haha i tried drawing the pentanol to get the joke, but couldn't figure it out. did you mean a 4,5-pentanediol?

I have none but was curious if anyone else did as well... So what do you guys think? From looking at last years thread it seems like there is a bunch of movement right after the 15th. So the 15th is on a Friday this year, so do you think there is going to be a lot of movement on that Friday or will it wait for Monday the 18th?

Also, will we get notice of where we are on the waitlist pre May 15th, or is it post 15th?

Anyone have any info?

When I was WL'd in December, I called and they said they don't "rank" the waitlist at any point and they wouldn't provide any information as to the likelihood of a given person being granted admission...

I haven't heard anything in a while. I sent in my paper to stay on the alternate list on 4/20 and it updated on my cincy app page, but nothing else has happened. I imagine the movement will be on Monday rather than Friday, because many people will not withdraw until late afternoon on Friday. Good luck to all.

I just relayed what they told me in mid-December; you may have heard something different, suggesting several distinct possibilities:

1) You talked to admissions, the policy changed, then I talked to admissions.

2) I talked to admissions, the policy changed, then you talked to admissions.

3) One of us misinterpreted what admissions was saying.

4) One of us talked to someone in admissions who didn't know what they were talking about.

I'm hoping for #2 (or possibly #4) so I can know what third I'm in 🙂 I don't believe #3 to be the case, because I have faith in both of us to correctly interpret what people say.
