OMG! After applying to CU for 3 years I just got my acceptance letter today. For those interested I am instate, interviewed for the third time in November, and am a non-traditional student. With a 3.29 GPA 30 MCAT and nearly 30 years of age I didn't think I had much chance at CU, but I made it. Good luck to all those waiting and I hope to see you in August

Congrats!!! Did you get an email or snail mail?

You got a letter in the mail? Not email?

Congrats EWAustin I look forward to meeting you in the fall!!! I am not sure if this is how it worked for everyone but I got an e-mail, a phone call the next day and a snail mail a week later which said exactly the same thing as the e-mail.

Hey, I got an email only. It states that I should be receiveing a signed letter in the near future, but for me it was only email so far. Thanks for all the congrats, good luck to all those waiting, and I look forward to meeting you all in the fall.

I am already getting nervous for this Friday! Let the countdown begin!

wait sry, what exactly is happening this friday?? last round of phone call acceptances? waitlist letters mailed? would you plz tell how you got this info?

hopscotch,
cast128 probably noticed that last year on Friday, March 14th Colorado let all the applicants know their status (probably via e-mail) and is assuming that this year it will be Friday, March 13th. Have a nice week!

Ziff700 would be correct in his assumption. I am just banking on similar timing this year. Good luck to everyone and sorry for any confusion I may have caused.

If you call the admissions office and describe your situation, she is actually pretty informative. Sounds like decisions will be made later in the month this year. Seh said notifications will be sent out late March...boo! I am a first time applicant so highly doubt I will get in. Im gonna have to move outta state surely!

You never know! I am a first time applicant and I got in so there is hope!!! Best of luck :luck:!

Me too, keep those fingers crossed. You might wanna go out and collect some good karma while you are at it, I find a solid stash of karma is always a good thing.

Any chance we might hear tomorrow? Or is it going to be next week? I don't know how much long I can take the waiting.

I don't know for sure, but here is a string of logic that might be useful:
I do have it on good authority that the last round of interviews was last Friday. The committee meets to discuss the candidates and provides them a rank immediately after the interview, so everyone who is interviewed has been ranked.

Assuming they sent out the acceptance letters for that round fairly promptly (like before the accepted students got home), they could be waiting as long as 2 weeks before they get a response. Until they get the responses, they don't know how many acceptances they have to give (They can't offer more at one time than they have spots in the class).

It seems like it is beneficial for the school to wait as long as possible before committing people to the wait list. If they could offer someone a spot straight up, without putting them on the waitlist first, I think that is much preferable to them. So they don't want to do the mass reject/accept/waitlist until they know exactly how many acceptances they have to offer.

My thought: when you hear depends on when the accepted students from the last round of interviews get back to CU.

Good Luck!

I sure hope we hear on Friday. It would be nice to just get it out of the way. The wait is killing me more than anything.

I take it CU is your preference over the other schools you have been accepted to? Where do you think you would end up if CU doesn't come through for you? You have some good options, you should definitely be happy about that.

I hope we hear tomorrow, too! I can't wait anymore! :xf:

Im not really sure, CU is definitely towards the top of my list. I really liked creighton but the cost and the lack of their financial aid package makes me think twice about attending there. I could go to either of the TX schools for less than in-state in Colorado, but I would just rather stay in Colorado where my family lives. We will just have to see how the cards are dealt.

my friend heard from her undergrad adviser at CU that CU med wont be making decisions till the 30th this year....don't know exactly how the adviser heard this but might take the stess of today (and put it on the rest of the month)

Wow, way to make us wait longer, thanks CU.

Yup this is true. This was in my inbox this morning:

"By March 30, AAMC "Traffic Rules" require that all US allopathic medical schools issue a number of offers of acceptance at least equal to the expected number of students in its first-year class. CU School of Medicine has typically done this by mid-March. This year they anticipate that the next round of acceptances, rejections, and the wait list will be sent on March 30."

Sorry guys! Dr. Bekoff has good connections with admissions, so I believe it.

(BTW 100!)

lame lame lame lame.....i can't take all this waiting. Thanks for the update tho

Congrats IceMD! Hope to see you in the fall!

Just got an acceptance today! Interviewed 9/19, in-state, received acceptance by email.

If you are definitely going to CU join the FB group "University of Colorado School of Medicine c/o 2013".

Accepted by email this morning! (I 10/03, IS)

Will they be sending any more acceptances? Or was today the last of them?

Congrats to all!

I'm sure this set off a day of obsessive email checking by everyone. Was this the day that they let everyone know? Any WLists or (god forbid) rejections?

haha I've set my outlook to check email every 2 minutes (and still kept clicking send/receive a 100 times in between), and have plugged in a speaker because im not around my computer all the time...nothing for me :(

called this morning. willa was very nice, but could not give me a direct answer as to whether more acceptances would go out this month (*technically acceptances could be sent all the way through august). she did say that by aamc guidelines everyone must know whether they are rejected/wait listed/accepted by 3/31. so CU will def email everyone with some sort of status by the last day of the month.

fingers crossed. loved the school. go buffs. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE. :xf:

Thanks for the update. Still have my fingers crossed as well. Good luck, go buffs!!

seems like no one heard waitlist or reject today which makes me think they sent out a few of the acceptances to the well qualified applicants today because other schools might be sending acceptances out around the 15th and CU doesn't want to lose them to other schools. Hopefully waitlist and rejected are not the only options still available. Hopefully!

Anyone from March 6 (or close to this time) interviews hear anything yet?

Bump! Anyone heard anything recently?? I interviewed in December and I am still waiting....

October...still waiting... sigh...

Not to stir up a bunch of anxiety - but I was told they are meeting tomorrow to review all apps. So we should hear very soon I hope. I interviewed in November as well. Best of luck to you all!

I wonder if they are still giving out acceptances or if it's just gonna be WLists.

My fear is that they will only give out WL spots now (and rejections  which would REALLY suck after 5+ months of waiting). Anyway, in years past top third has always been a good sign, so if it must be WL - hope for that.

I am almost 100% its all waitlists at this point. I hope someone proves me wrong! Good luck to everyone still waiting out there...including myself :D

it might very well be all WL coming now. but Last year when they sent out their acceptances in march (on the 14th) there were about 10 or maybe more SDN'ers that heard news. This year only like 4 people got the lucky email last monday. So I am still (naively maybe) thinking acceptances could still be coming. as always good luck to everyone

While I cannot say for certain, since I am not involved in this year's final decision process for CU, I can say that in previous years the mass notifications included both direct acceptances and wait list folks. Good luck to all of you!

And for those of you who interviewed late: I interviewed on the LAST day and got my acceptance with the big mass mailing.

I interviewed on the last day and received an email saying I was accepted that afternoon. I'm out of state and was shocked to get the email so soon. But I am a nontraditional and have heard rumors of Colorado liking more "mature" students.

With the weather as it is I suspect they have gone home and we won't hear till next week. This is so frustrating.

They won't take the day off unless it's absolutely necessary. I got my acceptance email from them on Christmas eve.
