maybe we should call again. the lady told me it would only take a week or two. and my interview is coming up fast.

I had an interview there and didn't receive a confirmation letter until like the week before. It doesn't relaly say anything new, just the time and place of the interview which you probably already know. There is no interview packet.

Yes...the lady mumbled something about a time, presumably an "afternoon" slot for me....but I definitely did not catch it. Nor do I really know where I'm supposed to go once I get into Chicago.

Same here. But I asked her about the time and she said that afternoon interviews for the Chicago campus start at around 11:30 and we should be done by 4:30. I haven't gotten my letter yet either...

for all of you lucky enough to have interviews .. how long after your status changed to "applicant in progress" did you get an interview invite ?

Ok.....I just logged on to the status page. I think it's been over a week now and I got this Excel like spreadsheet with a bunch of dates on the vertical legend and places/general times on the horizontal legend. However, there's a million zeros and only one day with a whopping 8. Did I just like fall behind the eightball and miss out on the interview times? I'm going to call right away tomorrow, but....absolutely no chose in day whatsoever.

For Current Status, it says "Interview Dates not yet Scheduled"

Help me out guys. This is my top choice for sure.

They might know more when you call... When I called they asked me if I'd like to know the available dates but I had already picked one from my spreadsheet... What day is available right now and which campus?

Congratulations on the interview!!

On the site, the only day is 10/29 Rockford PM with 8 slots.

What's the earliest I can call tomorrow?

I can't believe they don't send you an email or any kind of notification....To be fair, I should have been checking this religiously, but I didn't expect it to be this soon and I've been preoccupied at work.

Well, that's either here nor now. I just need to make it so that i can get one of those 8 and then work on getting time off at work.

Well there maybe more days in november, I'm sure if you can't make the 29th they will work with you. I think the office opens at 8:30, but somebody can correct me if I'm wrong. Congratulations again!

Oh, so this isn't like the ONLY date or month then allotted for me? I guess I'm just worried that it's set in stone for when I can interview. We'll see tomorrow. I've worked so hard and come so far, I'm not going to let any logistics get in my way....

Can you make it on the 29th, in the afternoon? If so then you've got nothing to worry about! I can't say for sure but they seemed willing to work with me, but one of the dates on my spreadsheet worked for me so I didn't have to try and get a new one. Maybe someone else can chime in for sure though...

Yeah, I think I can make it. I think my real worry, and it's taken some time to articulate it, is that they have more interviewers than slots and that if I'm not quick enough tomorrow morning, I won't get one of the 8. I guess that's it. Getting time off work and all that is second to getting the interview in my opinion.

You know, if one slot has 8 and the rest have zeroes, it may just be that they haven't scheduled interview spots for any other days at all. 8 is the max they have for one slot. I'd find it fishy if alllll other spots went to zero before anyone picked that slot.

Sleepy, you have a good point, but at the top of the table it says "Interview Slots Available". I'll let you all know what I find out tomorrow.

On a slightly related note, would anyone be willing to help me figure out how to prepare for an interview...🙂 Maybe direct me to some online material that they found useful?

This feedback is what I am using to prepare for my interviews: http://more.studentdoctor.net/interviewlist.php?school=106
(It is a sticky on the 1st page of the Pre-Allo forum)

Whoa, what a gold mine

Ok, i called and they said that the only available day was 10/29/08, the one that showed only 8 slots. So, we were right. Strange, but we were right. I said by all means, I'll take that day.

For future reference, the office is open 8:30 till 5:00.

all those prereqs like psych, anthro, 200-level bio course... can they be pass/fail?

Since they're booked in October, I called today to see if they could free up more spots in Nov and they've opened up 11/5 at the Chicago and Peoria sites. Hurry and schedule before they fill up!

Hey! I know a few people from SDN are starting to interview here today and maybe some before, just wanted to see if any of you were still around and ask how they went? What'd you think of the school?

Where did you guys check status? I cant find the site!haha nevermind I found it.....mine also says applicant in process........dont know how long that has been there but it just hit 8 weeks......

Hmm, that's really weird, because my site says there are only 8 available for the 11/5 day, but the 8 is in the grid for a few of the locations (Chicago and others too). I don't understand - is this some glitch in the system? Did you all receive invites recently (like today? My status was "Applicant in Process" this morning and changed to that weird page this afternoon). Well congrats to everyone - in past years, according to the MSAR, over 5000 OOS applicants compete for 300 interviews, and over 1/5 of those end up matriculating there, so the odds are looking a little better for us! 🙂

UIC should have emailed about the change in status. I haven't checked my page for awhile, and now I regret it. I got an interview, but I couldn't take Oct 28th or 29th anymore, which would be perfect as I will be in Mid West for an interview on 27th. I took Nov 5th, and now I'd have to bomb my credit card for 4 flights to Midwest in 2 weeks. Anyone at SDN wanting to switch from 28th or 29th to Nov 5th?

Also, I'm not sure the difference between sites? The interview will take place at different sites? different interviewer? Any advice?

Thanks to fellow SDNers, I knew I'll have to call to schedule appointment when I saw the grid.

So I understand that those that interviewed before Oct 15 will find out on Oct 15th. Does anyone know when people who interview after that find out? Say Oct. 20th? Would it be like Nov 15th?

I second this, does anyone know what the admission committee meeting schedule looks like this year?

Last year, I don't think they informed people of their decision until the last week of October. What makes you think it will be Oct. 15 this year?

No idea, I thought that was just the day most med schools let applicants know and figured UIC was one of those med schools.

man, i'm dying for an interview here. come on, state school love!!

So I have 0 interview spots available.

Awesome. Will that change on Monday? 3rd time is a charm!!!

I interviewed in Sept. and they told us the first acceptances would go out at the end of Oct via snail mail.

I just registered for interview Nov 12th, but it had to be in Peoria and hard for an out of state person to make arrangements. So, if anyone earlier wants to trade, email me at [email protected] please. Thanks, and gl everyone

Does where you interview determine which campus you will be placed in? Does 0 = no more slots available? Thanks and good luck to all!

No. Where you interview does not matter. It may matter on how LATE you interview though because I think I heard that certain more popular campuses like chicago get filled up faster.

So I'll be interviewing in mid-November, and I'm wondering if anyone has any information about how many Chicago spots are left, or at what rate they will cease to exist?

In last year's cycle, my friend interviewed in early December, received her acceptance right around Christmas, and she was in the first batch of accepted students that did not get a spot in Chicago. This leads me to believe that -- if I get accepted right away -- I would be cutting it very close. The number of applicants increases each year, so last years "early December interview crew to miss out on Chicago spots" could change to this year's "mid November interview crew to miss out on Chicago spots".

Anyone got any good news?

for those who have received interviews, how long did you get the "application in process" message before you were invited to interview? my status page hasn't changed in a week, and I am becoming antsy.

oh yeah, congrats on interview invites!!!

Mine was 3-4 weeks at Applicant in Process.

For those who have already interviewed, how'd it go? What were your thoughts and impressions? Did they say how long we'd have to wait to find out their decision?

Application In Process --> Applicant in Process, 5 weeks
Applicant in Process --> Interview, 3 weeks

Pre-reqs:

So, I'm not quite sure if I meet the 3 social science pre-req. I've got 2 semesters of general psych. Do you think any of the following will count toward #3?

ETHICS AND MORAL REASONING
LEADERSHIP THEORY AND APPLICATION
POLITICAL PSYCHOLOGY

(I called UIC, but the lady in the office seemed quite busy, so I thought I'd bounce this question off this forum).

I'm so stupid! So I waited a lil too long to sign up for an interview and now I'm sitting with 0's all across the interview page. DOes anyone know when more slots will be availible?

Same thing happened to me so I called the office and they opened up more spots. I'd check with them.
