Anyone else have this message on their status page?

I'm guessing that's a good thing? I added this school at the last minute, and I would be ecstatic to get an interview... I'm going to check out last year's thread and see if they say anything about this.

EDIT: Never mind, apparently it means nothing... Basically it's a generic message that everyone gets if they're not rejected after turning in their secondary materials.

Hey, it's a step in the right direction.

tianac2, I had that message.

I submitted on 7/11, and was complete I think on the 21st. It's on my mdapp, but that's not working now.

I have the same message. Sub 7.14, complete 7.21. It isn't meaningless, according to last year's uvm info there were people rejected post-secondary who did not get this message. It just means we've made it over another hurdle. Also, it seems like a couple of people saw their status change to interview invite a couple of days after seeing this message, so it doesn't necessarily mean you won't be in the first round of interviews.

I am not complete at UVM, submitted 7/16. It says letters not received, however almost all other schools haev received my letters over the last 2 weeks just fine (via virtual-eval). It states letter processing could take 3-4 weeks. Has anyone else had trouble with this at UVM so far? Thanks so much 🙂

Same issue here, I submitted 7/18, sent letters the same day via interfolio, and my letters are still not received.

Hey I just got the:

"Your file is complete and has been preliminarily reviewed. You are within a pool of applicants from which an interview may be extended. Please note that this does not guarantee you will be offered an interview and you may not see an update to your status for several months.."

Message as well. If I were a pessimist I would say it seems like a pre invite hold. Since I am an optimist I think it means they have not started to give out interviews so this is a way of telling us we are still in the running and to wait until they give out the interviews.

Oh and I was complete on 7/28 and I just got this message today.

hi
I just got the same response:

Your file is complete and has been preliminarily reviewed. You are within a pool of applicants from which an interview may be extended. Please note that this does not guarantee you will be offered an interview and you may not see an update to your status for several months.

Our interview season runs from September through April and you will be contacted via email if you have been selected to interview.

so does it mean we're on hold or what?

Until I see some interview invites extended to other people I'm not going to read anything into it beyond "not summarily rejected".

Any advice on how to find out about old traffic violations? I am an older applicant and have lived in several states - I can't really remember when and where I had traffic violations.

You'll probably have to call the DMV for those several states. If you didn't pay the tickets on time you could also check your credit report.

I would really be surprised if traffic violations had a significant impact on your application.

For what it's worth, I didn't write in any traffic violations.

If you guys look at the criminal question it says any have you had any CRIMINAL convictions. Speeding tickets are for the most part a civil offense, and thus do not need to be mentioned. From what I understand a speeding ticket can be a criminal offense if you are going something like 30 mph over the limit or if you are in a school zone. If you have some civil violations you do not need to report these, as it asks for only criminal convictions. Is someone with some real legal knowledge could tell me if I am correct that would be great.

that's the message i had originally and a few days later, i got an interview invite

Same here. But from reading threads from previous cycles, it seems that this status message is given to all applicants whose files are complete and have been reviewed and NOT rejected. It doesn't necessarily guarantee an interview, especially as the cycle progresses.

Same series of events for me

vermont still doesn't have my LORs marked as received I sent them 7/15 via Interfolio electronically, I guess I will try resending =P

So I've also been placed in limbo land by UVM. For those that got invites afterwards, did you also receive an email?

It was a week wait for me from pool of applicants -> interview invite. I got the invite by email before I noticed anything on the status page (which is bizarre because I think I was still in obsessive status checking mode at that point, but whatev).

BTW - if anyone gets an invite, takes 9/30, and wants to discuss sharing a hotel send me a PM. I'm all about saving $$ this round.

By the way, you can get a great deal through the Hilton Burlington. If you call, ask to speak with reservations. Then tell them you are a medical school applicant and you would like to request the special rate. The lady I spoke with wasn't familiar with this, but was able to look it up and I got a great room (city view, King size bed) for just $90 with tax and everything. They also have a complimentary shuttle to/from the hotel and to/from the medical school. For a luxury hotel and transportation, $90 is a steal. There are other deals on the applicant website as well - just log in to the secondary application site and there should be more information once you have confirmed your interview date.

I submitted and was complete about a month ago yet I still have this message:
"We have received all application materials that you have submitted. Your application is under preliminary review. This review of your file may take 6-8 weeks.

Once the review of your file is complete your status will be updated.
"

It seems like others have had their preliminary review much faster than I have, no?

Yeah, I have the same issue... seems like a silent rejection.

I thought that too, but apparently they were sending out invites over most of the interview season last year, so don't give up yet! 😀

Congratulations, that's exciting!

If you don't mind sharing, when were you complete, when did you get the "under review -- may take 6-8 weeks" message, and how long did it take to get the "interview pool" message?

well i got the secondary application email on july 15th and i just got the applicant pool status message today, 8/25.

I am still at the 6-8 week stage!!

This sucks! I got/send most of my secondaries in july but was only complete in August since my undergrad institution doesn't send recs until August!

I'm with you. I was complete sometime in the last week of July (my letters were uploaded 7/24) and I'm still at the 6-8 week stage too...

Same... complete on 7/28. We are unloved. 🙁

i have my fingers crossed for you guys, waiting sucks. 🙁

For those of you who are interviewing, I'd suggest you make your hotel reservations asap. Mid-sept thru Oct is foliage season in Vt. and it can be tough to get a room. The Hilton quoted me double the med school app rate listed from UVM ($160), but I got a room with a hottub at the b&b for $90 which sounds excellent!

Here's hoping that they're just playing hard to get and will come around shortly. They know they want us...

Finally got moved to the pool of applicants... but it took a month so it's not like they were enthusiatic about it. I'm sure it's just a matter of time for you. Keep the faith!

I'm in that pool too. I wonder if everyone who is complete and reviewed goes into this category?

Thanks! I just checked and I'm still in 6-8 weeks land...I think I will officially stop holding my breath if I haven't moved by the end of next week...

Last year I was rejected after the preliminary review so I didn't get placed in the pool.

:-( Good luck... if you were complete after me (7/28) then definitely don't give up.

So I just got an interview invite for 9 days from now. I'm almost tempted to email them asking if they meant October 11.

I have two speeding tickets... one is pretty bad, the other is not really a big deal. Wondering whether I should report both, just the bad one, or neither. I'm definitely not asking if its okay to lie- just whether they both need to be reported. Does anyone have any advice? Do you know if they pull your DMV record? My feeling is that a small speeding ticket isn't a huge deal... Okay I would appreciate any feedback!!! Thanks.

i was complete since 7/26 but i haven't heard anything. were you rejected straight out last time or did they just leave you with the 6-8 week message

Last time I had the 6-8 week message for like 10-12 weeks and then it turned into a rejection message.

Does UVM send a secondary to everyone? I submitted my primary AMCAS application at the end of June and I still haven't received a secondary from UVM!!! It is the only one I have left. Anyone have any insight?

Thanks!

Yeah, they send to everyone.

I submitted my primary for Vermont in July, probably mid-July, but I added Vermont after everything was verified.

I got the secondary about 1 month ago. 😱

If you want to... but it hasn't quite been 6-8 weeks. It can't hurt you to call though.

i got the passing prelim review message today. has anyone not got it?

I was bored so I checked all the status pages on my apps and found that I have been scheduled in Nov for an interview at UVM. Couple questions

a) Is it normal that they schedule you for an interview but don't send an email? Should I contact them to make sure they have my right address?

b) I know that some people have gotten very early interviews (i.e. sept 11th)...do you think my date has something to do with how much/little they liked my overall application? (or is it because i am out of state?)

thanks! I am very excited. 2nd interview!

I received an email for my invite at Vermont. I'd wait until the end of the business day (or maybe Monday) and then just send a short email making sure they have your proper contact information.

Usually schools schedule the interviews as they are available. I'm OOS and received my invite on 8/13 for a 9/23 interview. I'm pretty sure it's done randomly or based on the date your interview was granted.

Congrats! It's an awesome school and the people seem really happy there. A few of us interviewees were walking around while waiting for our interviews and a med student came and nabbed us and gave us a tour of the whole hospital completely out of the blue. I only wish it were possible to get in-state status.

Has anyone who has interviewed seen a change in the online status page after his or her interview was done? Mine still looks the same as it did before my interview, where it has all of the interview and travel information. It is almost as if I never interviewed, sort of a disconcerting feeling since UVM is my first choice. I have been obsessively checking my status page, even though we were told that 10/16 would be the date.

I wouldn't worry. Once you interview they have to decide acceptance/waitlist/rejection - I'm pretty sure that your status page won't change until this decision has been made and you have been informed (i.e. on October 16th).
