Wow... this is bad news... I'm praying we get a status update tonight at 6:04 pm saying we've gone to committee. It's odd because my friend who interviewed at VCU on 10/7 was told that her file would be reviewed and she'd be eligible for an acceptance tomorrow as well.

But it still depends on your interviewer actually showing up to committee to present you.

😡 I know our interviewers have busy lives...but this sucks!!!

Let's cross our fingers that they did review us yesterday!
 
how does VCU know that we are applying as in state(va) resident?

I didnt have send anything in like I did for EVMS and UVA.
 
Should I even hold my breath for an interview invite?
 
Also holding my breath and clenching my fingers for an interview invite. OOS with the MAY message since mid August. Come on lady luck!

I see. I thought they gave preference to IS so they would take that into consideration while they were reviewing your post interview file.
 
If you are interested in knowing if you will find out the decision tomorrow, just call the admissions office and ask. I called just now and they told me I had been reviewed by the committee, a final decision was reached, and I should hear my fate for certain tomorrow.

After that, the receptionist also told me that I should be "optimistic" and followed that up by saying she wasn't sure if she was supposed to tell me that that or not ... which makes me pretty stoked. 😀 I really liked VCU.

Sounds like good news is coming your way tomorrow! When did you interview? Also, did you ever get the hold message after your file was reviewed at committee?

I just tried to call admissions and got a message saying they were experiencing "high call volume..." 🙁

I interviewed on 9/25, got the "please complete a survey" message that same day, completed the survey, and have had the "thanks for completing the survey" message ever since. That's actually why I called. I wanted to see if I had been reviewed or not.

Apparently they aren't updating the status site for a lot of people after the committee review to reflect the post-committee hold that we were told about at the info session. So if you have the "survey" message still, it doesn't necessarily mean that you haven't been reviewed yet. It seems like if they told your group that you would get a decision by the 15th, then you probably will have one tomorrow regardless of your status page.

Okay, thanks for the update. I'm glad to hear that and I figured this might be what happened. Just 24 hours and 47 minutes until we could be accepted!

That's good to hear about the status not being updated....I think the office is closed so I'll just have to wait it out until tomorrow. However, my score wasn't in this morning so I'm still a little nervous about it!

Does anyone know how many OOS offers will come out tommorrw, or what is OOS and IS ratio?
Tough times...i hate waiting...it never ends...there is always something...4 years from now will be residency i guess
 
Good luck tomorrow everyone!! I have interviews tomorrow and Thursday so I won't be checking my email until Thursday afternoon. Can't break my focus. I'm sure you'll all have good news!😍

The class is usually 60% IS, 40% OOS, so I'm guess there will be approximately 60 IS acceptances and 40 OOS acceptances tomorrow. But that's all conjecture at this point.
 
what's the total class size??

I just got a secondary :-/

yeah they got the nicest people ever working there. When I called about me never getting their secondary she told me "they looked at your file, you will know by this afternoon, but I would be happy if I was were you".

During my interview, I met her, thanked her, and told her she was the best secretary of all the medical schools I applied too. She seemed really taken back by that...I hope I wasn't too forward but she deserved to hear it, she was super nice.

Also, i'm sorry if this has been discussed previously, but has anybody gotten an interview kinda late in the game (i added this school after a reload on the "shotgun method")... and if you don't mind sharing, how long was it before you heard back from 2ndary ----interview?

This wait until 6 (or whenever they update) is killing me. Acceptances for Michigan, RWJNJ, etc. are rolling in for people today. Let's get it movin' VCU!! Show me some love!!!!
 
I called again to see if a decision has been made on my file, so I will know whether or not to hope for some news tonight...but I got the most confusing answer ever. I'm not sure if my file went in front of the committee. All I was told was my file is under review still...

I guess unless a decision is made in the next few hours (doubtful), I get to wait until December 🙁

When I called they said that I was on an "acceptance hold" and I would receive an offer tonight if I were to be accepted during this wave. So I guess that you might be waiting until Dec. However if I don't receive an acceptance tonight, I will be waiting right there with you.

When did you interview?

October 2...

the thing that was confusing was whether or not my file went in front of the committee....so if it did a decision could be made in time i suppose, if not then there is no chance.

I interviewed Oct. 1, so you still have hope. I was kind of confused by the person on the phone as well. But eventually I think that I understood her to say that my info had been entered and I was on an acceptance hold. I guess that we will see in a few hours, right?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you two were unsure whether or not to expect news tonight because you didn't receive the "hold" message (or w/e it's called) on the status page? Right?

That is correct. My status page still has the survey message. However there was a previous poster that has the same message, called, and was told that they were reviewed already and to expect good news later today.
 
LOL. I bet her phone just blew up after you made that post.

If you are blow a priority score of 3.5 they reject you..otherwise they just roll yourapplication and you wait for them to drop the priority score cutoff.

Actually I heard that you will get a hold message if you're not accepted or rejected (supposedly it's different from the "we have reviewed your file at committee message"). At least that's what I was told by my fellow interviewees at EVMS today.
 
6 minutes. At least according to the 6:04 PM deadline that has been set in this thread.

No update for me. Guess that's not a good sign. I'm OOS though.
