no i didn't know vcu was on cbc?
From the VCU SOM website:
The School of Medicine has recently become aware that our affiliated Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Central State Hospital are conducting finger printing and subsequent criminal background checks on all students rotating through their facilities. During these checks, several students have had positive hits. All positive findings are fully investigated by the Associate Dean of Student Affairs.
This year the Association of American Medical Colleges is developing guidance for Schools of Medicine on the issue of criminal background checks. The School of Medicine will remain in concert with the AAMC guidelines and therefore the School has deferred development of a final policy for Admissions until such guidance is available.
Current standards rely on the students self report in the application process through AMCAS. A copy of the Schools Interim Criminal Background Check Policy is available in the online Student Handbook. Please be aware of this policy prior to completing an application to the School of Medicine.
Also, good luck to everyone. I'll be staring at my phone along with the rest of you this evening.
