I mailed my app to them 2 and a half weeks ago and haven't received a "your file is complete" e-mail yet. Anyone else in this boat?

its been 2 weeks for me but im guessing we are complete! i didnt even check to see if they received it even though i mailed it with express mail, maybe i should 😛 if you want to call they answer on thursdays! hopefully we're already complete and they just didnt bother to email since they wanna call us with the interview soon 😉

I'm not sure they even send out complete emails. I called them a week ago and they said I was complete. They also said to call them in 6 weeks if I do not hear about a decision for an interview.

They do send out complete emails, I got one a while back. It reads...

Dear Applicant:

Your file is complete and under review with our Committee on Admissions. If you have indicated that you will be taking or have taken a recent MCAT, your file will be formally reviewed by the Committee on Admissions once the new scores are received in our office.

If the Committee chooses to grant you an interview, you will be contacted by phone and/or email. You are welcome to check your status by phone 708-216-3229 any Thursday between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (central standard time).

Thank you,
Loyola University Chicago
Stritch School of Medicine
Office of Admissions

anyone know when the day usually ends? i'm looking at plane tickets...and i'm hoping for some 4 to 4:30 flights. i know they said not to schedule anything before 5:30 flight...but i mean the day starts at 8. i can't imagine a day that long.

You'd still have to get to the airport and traffic in Chicago around 3:30-4 is insane.

has anyone gotten an interview invite in the last 3 weeks or have they only sent invites out in that first batch?

I know this topic has probably been beaten over the head repeatedly, but has anyone whose primary app was submitted around August 25th received a secondary yet....how long should i wait before contacting admissions to make sure they received my primary?

thanks!

you won't get a secondary until you're verified. at least that was my experience...

so by the time you were verified it was probably about another month?
i was verified on august 25th (submitted end of july)....so i guess there is no need to really start worrying about not getting it yet, right?

I don't know if that's a fair statement to make. Loyola didn't release their secondary until sometime in July, and then they did so in illogical stages (i.e. some people who had been verified mid-June got them later than some that had been verified early July). My guess is that it probably won't take a month to receive their secondary. It might...but my guess is that it's unlikely.

There's really no way to know...

bah but the ticket prices become outrageous...like 4:30 is 180. anything after is 375 up to 1675 LOL.
thank god. i dont know how...but i couldnt find any flight after 6 that hwas under 400. i even saw some in the thousands. it was ridiculous. but then i tried studentuniverse.com, and i don't know why, but there was a perfect flight going out at 7pm that is a reasonable fare!

i knew i was lucky, but this is just sick. i'm running hot.

Hey everyone, i interviewed at Loyola this month. I can't speak highly enough about the school. The day was great! They really look at the overall person, and I felt like I was definitely more than a number. I met a couple first years and they pulled me into an anatomy lecture. Everyone is extremely friendly. I did not get the overwhelming experience of competitiveness you might at another school. The facilities are also great. You will definitely be impressed. I would definitely fight the unpredictable Chicago weather for this school!

For the record, I called them this morning and was told, "your application is complete and under review, have a nice day." So, apparently, there's a bit of a delay in sending "complete" e-mails. Or, as OneMCATAway implies, they'd rather call us with an interview invite than flood our inboxes with "complete" e-mails. 😉

Does someone have the template for what they want printed?

I did all the stuff online, verified my submission, then didn't copy/paste into word before I closed out the print preview. Now the online form won't let me back in.

I have Q 1-7 in my word document, but not 8 and 9. The ones that deal with residency and letters and the signature.

Thanks

EDIT: Nevermind. If this happens to you, just call, they reopen it for you.

Just wanted to reaffirm this post as I had my interview yesterday. Never have I seen a school so highly value students' happiness. They said their two goals as an institution were to provide their students with an excellent medical education and the highest quality of life. They backed it up too with an amazing gym facility that was built on campus because the administration wanted their students to use it, be happy, and be healthy. They are also very considerate of significant others and encourage them to come to second-looks and M1 events to feel like they are a part of the school as well.

In other words, I have never see so many happy students and a staff so dedicated to making their students' lives so much better. Other thing that comes close to paralleling this is the fact that their facilities are top notch and the main medical school building is only 10 years old and is fantastic.

Interview day at Loyola moved it from "strong consideration" to "a top choice". Also, for those of you wondering, the dean of admissions told us only 5 people were rejected post interview last year and everyone else was waitlisted or accepted. Get that interview and just be yourself!

i completely second everything said above. Absolutely amazing place.

Definitely a great school with an amazing community of faculty and students.

Just a little more fyi- the chairman shared that about 90% of the people who interview at this time of the year get in.

Verified 8/27 and still waiting for that secondary!!

Good luck to all of you in interviews right now!

edited because i feel too identifiable . . . nevermind and carry on 🙂

its taking forever for my application to be complete. They received all my material on 9/11 but its taking them a long time for them to upload my LOR which were all uploaded with my primary application in the end of July.

Anybody else having similar problem

I expressed my secondary 4 weeks ago... no complete email yet.

Is it worth a call tomorrow?

I think it's worth a call because they'd be more than happy to help you out. They are super nice. However, I think the reason it's taking so long is that their apps are up 20% from last year so if that's true it means they're reviewing or have reviewed well over 10,000 apps and a boat load of LONG secondaries to mark complete. It may just be taking them a long long time (they have a smaller staff). Hang in there!

I know this probably comes up quite a bit ... but apparently the secondary is time sensitive (IE you have one month to get it in from the time you received it) and as I was deleting spam today, I realized their secondary was in there and expired ten days ago. I wrote the admissions office explaining and asking for an extension, but I dunno. Does anyone know if they ever grant extensions because of situations like this? Thanks.

Submitted 8/15 called today... "your application is currently under review"... I am 😴 and :scared: of this entire process. Time to go :bang: some more!

Anybody else still waiting for the secondary???

I am...which was probably a terrible idea since I know they take forever to send out secondaries. I think I added them a couple weeks ago.

A few weeks ago, I sent the admissions office an e-mail about this and they said that there is an automatic 2 week grace period on your application deadline.
