Pre-bartending? I want to meet some one who is a pre-bartending student. I can imagine the competition is quite feirce for those two week programs at bartending school. Plus, if you want to get into a competitive field then you have to go back and take the advanced bartending classes! I think I will take the easy way out and stick to medicine.

correct. the numbers are posted in this thread someplace, but I think roughly 800 people get LOR requests (prolly like 4-5 thousand people apply)

Yeah, as far as I can recall it's been ~2 weeks since anyone has been invited for an interview. I would guess they review a bunch of applicants and then send out the invites after they're done with each batch. If anyone (current Mayo students) knows for sure please post 👍

haven't received an LOR request yet but hopefully I get one based on the 100% rate so far with these letters

Ya I got a LOR request after this email. In a way it makes sense because if they do not want to read your LOR's they could simply reject you at this stage.

hey everyone . . . i apologize for not reading this whole thread as it is insanely long. but i have had a couple people now suggest adding Mayo and I'm still not sure whether I would be competitive there.

I've been lurking and reading on SDN for quite a while now and the impression I get from Mayo is what people have been telling me- it's not a stats-***** school, etc. I also know the class is small and tuition is cheap, which are appealing. however, i've also gotten the impression that Mayo is pretty forgiving on the MCAT but tends to take people with really high GPAs. since my stats are the opposite, I'm hesitant to add. Although if they are really into 'different backgrounds,' am i different enough? (former artist?) different enough to overcome a low GPA? have any of you out there with similar stats gotten invites there yet? (or know of people who did in previous years?)

You should be fine with six. That's how many I sent and they're still interviewing me.. so no secret 5 max rule. Best of luck to you!

Not yet, wait until you get the email confirmng that they have your LORs. Then stay up until 3 a.m., although it may be good practice to just stay up that late anyways.

lol, good stuff. yeah, they will send you an email in like a week or two when they download your letters and attach 'em to your app.
