Hi, gogreen88. I hope you'll hear something soon. It's still wicked early, though. You are just ahead of the curve for getting an interview so early. That's probably it. I know it's frustrating, but hang in there. I hope you will hear good news soon.

They're first notification day for non EDP is the 15th, so we just have to wait it out.

Hey man! Thought they went well, very relaxed. Student did the same exact type of research as me so that was interesting to talk about that with him.

I don't think the first interview invite for Non-EDP is Oct 15 -- its the first day for final decision for Non-EDP that's Oct 15. If that's what you originally meant -- sorry -- I misunderstood.

yeah, sorry, I meant "acceptances", instead of interview invites.
 
Hi all,

I have an interview invite for Nov 10 and was wondering if anyone could tell me the closest airport (is it just Lansing?) or the nearest hotel? I'm from NY so we'll see how my adventure out to Michigan goes.... =)
 
The nearest airport is the lansing airport. As for hotels, the medical school is in south campus, a bit separated from everything else. There is a Red Roof Hotel down there, but not much else. (South of the medical school campus is the agricultural area... read:fields) There are lots of hotels north and east of campus. I wouldn't say any of the hotels are really walking distance, though.

One little known fact is that there IS a host program at MSU. To use it you have to ask the admissions staff if there is one. They do not advertise it.

Hi gogreen-

It can really vary. I was accepted less than two weeks after my interview (in January), while some classmates waited > 4 months for a response. You probably don't like this answer, but I would guess the long waits are more likely the earlier you interview...MSU always interviews and accepts people well into the second semester so I'm sure they're careful to not offer too many spots too early. That said I also know lots of folks who heard on October 15th. So I guess I'm saying it varies a lot and try not to despair if you have to wait a while. Good luck. 🙂

Lansing is closest but some people find cheaper tickets landing in Detroit, and there's a bus (I believe called the 'Michigan Flyer') that can get you back and forth. Worth looking into.
 
Will they still do night before calls like normal even though its the 15th?

(really more just moving this up so people stop posting in the other one)
 
Last year the admissions people were nice enough to give us a list of dates where notification would take place. Some of you may be dissapointed that October 15th was not on that list. Things could be different this year, but in the past calls went out on Tuesday nights only. I'd think the first notification date would be next Tuesday, not tomorrow. Of course, I would be thrilled for you all to be wrong, and in this case hope I am.
 
Theres a list on the website and october 15th is on it. The first two are on thursdays.
 
I'm happy to hear that some of you may find out today! Good luck to you all! They meet pretty late, generally. Don't be suprised if you get a call at like nine or ten at night! (Eastern)
 
These are the dates from the website for anyone else wondering. It also said that they would update your status page by 1 PM, which is now. And mine isn't updated so I guess I get to keep waiting. ahh well 🙂

my status page hasn't updated either... I'm still holding out for a call sometime today though!! *crosses fingers*
 
I guess I don't really need to be telling SDN-ers, but you should make sure to check your status!

I got an invite for an interview four days ago, but the email was never sent!! The admissions office said they had made a typo after the decision had been made - so the web said interview, but the secretary got the code for reject or something!!!

How lucky for me!!! This had to have happened to someone else??

Just got invited to an interview for next Thursday!! Website not updated yet. My interview was an opening due to a reschedule as they asked if I could make it and apologized for the short notice. NICE 🙂 VERY HAPPY 😀. In state 3.66/34R.

I interviewed on Thursday 9/24 and got a phone call telling me I was accepted on Tuesday evening 9/29. It was sweet.

Crazy story; I have not heard of this happening to anyone else, but this doesn't mean it hasn't. You must be psyched. Congrats.

so I had to reformat my computer and lost all of my bookmarked websites...what is the status page for this school?
 
Nope, maybe thalianox was right and the dates they posted were off. i know last year they met on tuesday nights and acceptance calls would go out that night with other notifications on wednesday, so I guess we get to keep waiting for now

Between 2 and 3pm on Friday. Random, right? It was the one time I hadn't had my phone in my hand, willing it to get a call from CHM, lol. The voicemail that I got was followed by a status page update and an email a little later in the afternoon!
 
Congratulations! I'm guessing by your username that MSU was your first choice or your undergrad, then?

Sweet! Well you were one of the first interviews, hopefully that means good things for the rest of us coming up next week.
 
Rejected yesterday by email.

I was a reapplicant.

Is it just me, or does anyone else find it a bit rude to be screened twice for a secondary and not get interviewed at least once?

If MSU CHM didn't screen their applicants I wouldn't think twice about it, but since they do it really gives someone false hope . . .

It wasn't my first choice anyway.
 
I think MSU sends secondary applications to everyone.
