MSU gives out interviews well into the new year. They are semi-rolling, so don't start worrying yet. Their last interview days are in March, and they do straight out accept people who interview then. I know lots of classmates who interviewed and were accepted after January.
 
Wow..it's officially been 3 months since my application has been complete and I still have this message:

Your application is complete and has been forwarded to the review committee for a preliminary review. Thank you for your patience as we carefully consider your application.

anyone get the 'hold' status yet?

That's quite a while to hear nothing from them. I would have thought if they didn't offer you an interview, they'd at least put you on hold over the course of 3 months. Are you OOS or IS?

I have been complete since middle of August and heard nothing either 🙁

It's been about 2 months for me, with the same message. I am glad I am not on hold though, as hold would mean my app would be looked again, after all other apps, if at all!

They 100% will re-review every applicant early next year. Assuming you arn't rejected the first time through of course.
 
I just got a second version of the post-interview status the day before one of the decision dates, does that mean they will decide tomorrow??

They actually meet on the Tuesday night before the date. So you will hear if you got in tonight. It sounds like your file will probably go to the committee for the next decision day.

Don't get too upset if you don't hear back the first or second meeting after your interview. It is kind of random how long it takes them to get to your file. I interviewed at the end of October last year and got in just before Christmas. I know people who interviewed at the same time and heard before Thanksgiving, and people who didn't hear until after the New Year. Try not to let it bother you too much.

You are correct they do accept Tuesday nights by phone...😀 . Got my phone call this evening. Very nice!
 
I got accepted tonight by phone!!!!!!! My first acceptance!!!!!!

Interviewed 10/29
Accepted 11/3 by phone
 
Congrats guys!! I remember how it felt when I got my first acceptance.

Interviewed on 10/22. Still nothing. Uh oh!
 
I interviewed on Oct. 22 too, and I didn't hear back tonight.
😕It's killlllling me
What are the chances that they will make calls tomorrow as well?

Essentially zero. Maybe you'll hear at the next meeting.

It looks like what ruiner said is right. Our files are just being reviewed on a different day. So in good news that means no rejection or waitlist (yet)

THere is likely another one next week, so you probably wont have to wait too long to hear something.

I got this messages on 10/2. I interview end of september.. still havent heard anything back 🙁

I don't know about silent rejections, but they do put people on long holds which sometimes result in later interviews. I also think they give out very few actual rejections until late March.

They sent some rejection emails 10/16 -- so they probably dont do silent rejections.
 
Hi y'all, I'm interviewing at MSU soon and I want to know from people who have interviewed... how was the experience? Any info will help! thanks, and congrats to all that are accepted, and good luck to those that are waiting for interviews and are post-interview.
 
Hey all... I was just wondering if any of you OOS interviewers were asked about your plans after medical school (as far as staying in Michigan or going back to your home state)?

...this subject did come up, but very briefly. As long as you don't appear narrow-minded about not staying in Michigan after graduation (even if you know you aren't), you should be fine...stay open to the possibility of things...

...OOS interviewee here. My interview experience was nothing short of fabulous. My faculty and student interviewer were really interested in learning about me as a person and vice-versa...word to the wise ---> about 99% of the questions asked at both of my interviews were found in the SDN Interview Feedback...definitely a great resource....👍

For anyone who has been put "on hold for re-review at a later date," how long did it take for that to show up on your status page after you were complete?

I was complete on Aug 4 and I still haven't received the 'on hold for re-review at a later date' status. Absolutely no news for over 3 months...

I'm still on preliminary review status since mid-August 🙁
 
Some acceptance calls should be going out tonight :xf:
