Hey BlindWilly, I got a call tonight too!! 😀 Aren't you excited? I'm sooooo happy.

Accepted as well 🙂 interviewed 10/22
When did you get the phone call? Just now?
I'm curious if the committee is still meeting as we speak, because some have been called a few hours earlier

Congrats to those accepted tonight! Hope to see you here next fall.

Accepted!!!! Got the call around 7:30pm. Interviewed on 10/22. Good luck to everyone else!

It seems like it has been a while since anyone has gotten an interview invite here...anyone know when they'll go out next?

Yea I would like to know this too, I REALLY want an interview here. Has anyone who was complete around 8/19th-ish receive an interview invite?

I was complete the first week in september, and I had an interview a few weeks ago...
Are you IS or OOS? I have a feeling they tend to invite IS to interviews ealier than OOS.

I am IS, and have been complete since 10/12 (MCAT score update, secondary was submitted in July).

I'm OOS. I would have assumed they would have put me on hold if they didn't want to invite me. I have just been on a preliminary review status for a long time.

I've been complete since late August, but haven't heard anything other than 'forwarded for preliminary review' does this mean it's over pretty much?

Definately not. There's so many applications that they just have to get around to reviewing yours. Once they do, they'll make an interview decision and let you know. Until you've gotten rejected officially, you're still in the game. Good luck!

Hey everybody, congrats to those already accepted. A Facebook group has been started for the CHM class of 2014 in order to get everyone together to talk and get to know one another. Search for MSU CHM c/o 2014 if you're interested in joining up. Congrats again to those accepted and best of luck to those in the process, hang in there. The MSU interview day was very casual and tons of fun, just relax and be yourself. See you next August!

To those who have been accepted for a while: I never got a response from my letter of acknowledgment of acceptance, but I did just get the status update saying that my deposit was received. Am I all set until they contact me again?

I think so. I was accepted 9/29. I got an e-mail saying I will receive a printed letter after the criminal background check is completed, after January, I think. I got a confirmation e-mail message stating that my deposit was received.

I had my transcripts sent, but never received confirmation of this. Has anyone else heard back from them when they receive transcripts?

Congrats 2014ers.

Great idea

Think so, thats same as my experience.

Hey everyone... So I am just freaking out because I interviewed in mid-November, and the upcoming 12/09 or 12/16 Notification Dates are the first time I could hear of my post-interview decision!! Definitely hoping to hear from MSU on the Tuesday night before these dates, though.:xf::xf::xf: I'm just tossing out a few questions though to see if anyone can ease this ridiculous and unnecessary angst and uneasiness (although I'm not sure if anyone has the answer to these):

1) Have there been any post-interview rejections yet?

2) How many people have they interviewed so far?

3) How many acceptances have there been?

Thanks, everyone... and cheers to absolutely freaking out!!! Hahahahahah

I have no idea what the answer to your questions are but I think the answers (for #3 especially) don't really matter as they save seats for interviewees attending their last interview date.

Dr. Shafer said once that they accept as many people as they want to accept. If it goes over the class number and that many people choose to come to MSU, they will figure it out then, but it is possible to be accepted all the way up until the last interview.

I've been complete and forwarded for prelim review since 8/20...it's been so long, does it mean that I'm pretty much rejected?

Does anyone know if MSU CHM screen applicants when sending out secondary applications?

Can anyone tell me the turnaround time? I submitted very late (complete 11/17)

I have been under preliminary review since 10/12 when they got my updated MCAT score and have yet to hear anything about an interview. There are other people I know personally that have been waiting even longer than that. So I think you can expect to be waiting quite a bit longer.

Does anyone know the implications of being put on hold at MSU?

I was placed on hold in October, but I'm not sure if that is a silent rejection or am I in the pool of candidates that are being considered for an interview....

Hey guys, first time posting on this thread.

As for recent interview invites, I got one Nov 17th, I think they considered me IS (had some mixups with my amcas about my residency)- my stats are lower than average applicants, but thought i'd let everyone know- did anyone else get invites around then??

They'll definitely review you again in February to "compare you to the larger applicant pool that evolves over the year." When I met with someone in admissions a while back, she said this is a very common thing and is by no means a death sentence at MSU. When were you complete and do you mind sharing your stats including IS/OOS?

For those of you who've been put on hold at MSU, what does your status message say? Or are you just assuming you've been put on hold?

Me 2. At this point, I just want to know for sure if I'm on a hold or rejected. This school and Buffalo....

Looks like they don't reject much at this point. I feel like it's a hold, but why won't they let us know?

thought I could help you out here... I recieved an e-mail letting me know about the hold followed by a status update...while i dont have the exact status message, here is what the e-mail said:

The MSU-CHM Office of Admissions wishes to inform you that your application has been placed on Hold for an Interview Decision.
It is very common to hold applications for an interview decision, for comparison to the larger applicant pool that evolves over the year.
We receive newly verified applications from AMCAS through January; therefore, most applications that are held for an interview decision will be reviewed again in February 2010. This may significantly delay a decision on your application. You will not see a change in your application status until your application is reviewed again and a decision is made. When a decision is reached, your status will change immediately. Please do not call the Office of Admissions to inquire about the status of your application, as the staff does not have access to any information beyond that which is posted on your Application Status page.
Please do not submit any additional information unless requested. Your application is considered complete and unsolicited material will be discarded.
We want you to be aware that CHM conducts interviews through March, and our admissions process is structured so that seats remain available for applicants who are reviewed and interviewed later in the application cycle. Applicants are not negatively affected by the timing of the application review.
Thank you for your interest in MSU-CHM.

It's kind of interesting... last year they said they would look at people "on hold" again in January, but this year it is February. Honestly if they don't look until then it seems like a long shot to get interviews out for the March dates. Not much turn around time there. Usually interview invites go out about a month in advance. They told us the other day that they already had invites out for the January dates.

Are they extremely slow about reviewing applications or what? I would have thought that I would have been told that I was on a hold or rejected by now. And were ALL the invites for January dates out, or were they stating that they were actively sending invites for January dates? I feel like I am a very good match for this school and although I've only been complete since mid-October, I would (figuratively) kill for a chance to interview there.

I really think they will let you know if you're on hold because it seems that several people have been placed on hold and were notified. As for Buffalo, they will let you know pretty soon as well. I had my file there complete for a while until they finally decided they were going to "non-accept" me via the status page followed by an official letter (snail mail) personally signed by Dr. Severin. BTW, Buffalo's rejection letter was by far the nicest one that I've received so far.

If you didn't turn in your application until mid-October, you may not have reached the top of the pile yet, especially if you're OOS. On the other hand, they may have reviewed you but can't decide if they want to put you on hold or not yet. Sorry I can't be of more help!

The exact quote from within the email I am referring to is "Since we have already scheduled applicants to interview for the month of January, we would appreciate receiving your interview schedule at your earliest convenience." Take it as you choose.

Thanks for the reply! I'm an instate applicant and submitted my secondary in July. I wasn't complete until October due to a missing MCAT score. Anyway, do you know if they send invites on a continuous basis or is it something they only do once or twice a month?

+1.

So for those with no news, is it like they are considering whether to give us invites or put us on hold?
