Oh look, it's almost 1:00pm here in AK... the time every weekday that I let out a big sigh and give up on hearing anything from east coast schools (incl USUHS), since it's the end of the business day there.

Sigh. Half a work day left with no possibility of exciting news.

I received the completed secondary notification yesterday. Really, this is the second email I received because a month ago I sent an email to verify LORs and they said my secondary and letters were in and were ready to be reviewed. Seems like a long time from when my file was actually complete to the time they sent me that notification letter. Anyway, I would think we can be expecting interview invitations soon. Has anyone else heard anything?

I got the complete email this morning. I think we will be hearing about invites very shortly. Hopefully its good news.

When did you send in your packet? I got a complete email after contacting them about a month ago too, but I haven't gotten the official complete email yet.

I submitted my secondary right before the 4th of July weekend. I sent an email to confirm receipt of my LOR's a week later, and got the response on the 10th of July. Then the unsolicited email came yesterday, about a month later.

We have the exact same timeline except I got the unsolicited (and unexpected) complete email last wednesday... and nothing since then. :luck:

submitted 7/6, emailed for confirmation 8/5 and they said I was complete. "unsolicited complete email" today. odd...

Check out my post on the last page. The unsolicited complete email means that your file has been checked by the admissions person and put in a stack to go out to the admissions board members. From there, it is about a week to two weeks to hear back.

Does anyone else besides the one have an interview yet?

Does anyone else besides the one have an interview yet?

 Thanks Brocimus, never has such a short and simple sentence brought such a smile to my face😀

By the way, just as a point of information, there are about 40 people in each interview group according to interview feedback.com

I'm back to SDN! I was banned for a looong week for some stupid MCAT ****. But I'm back.

Anyway, I sent in my Secondary on Tuesday, can't wait to hear about interview invites. I also can't wait to find out my MCAT scores...it's really killing me. Took that on 8/6. Is that going to seriously set me back? I can't believe somebody already has an interview!

Anyways, I have to BUMP this and really thank the posters because I've been utilizing this thread, and others, quite heavily during this post-MCAT + secondary period.

I feel like everytime I meet another USUHS student/grad and hear their tales my reasons for wanting to get in are reinforced. At USUHS, you will experience so many great things that civilian medical schools cant offer. One of these recent stories I heard was of the field exercises during the first and fourth year at Fort Indiantown Gap. (Search for videos about it on youtube if youre interested)
The students are given MCI's to simulate a combat situation and even have to work on saving the live pigs...which is probably more productive in the 4th year when you have more of a clue what is going on, but still cool. Again, check out the videos.
Anyway...I thought it was interesting and figured I would share

A good friend told me that he got an interview invite e-mail the same day that XMSR3 posted about receiving an interview invite. So I guess that makes two for sure on the first interview date, 17 Sep. Hopefully the rest of the spots on that interview date will find their way into our inboxes. Good luck everyone!

Watched one of the videos, pretty cool.

You smile at the fact that none of the rest of us have been invited? Thanks

I'm hoping he was smiling at the fact he got an interview at his top choice. Otherwise he is a total a**.

I really love the fact the first time you go to Ft. Indiantown gap you act as a medic and the second time as a physician. I think it is important to see patient care from point of injury to casevac out of the aid station. God I hope I get in here.

Look guys I meant nothing offensive by saying that brocimus's statement brought a smile to my face. I thought he was making a good natured jab at me with a blatent "matrix" reference.

Obviously I was mistaken as no one else saw that. In no way was I revelling in the lack of interviews, rather I meant to partake in some good natured banter with my fellow USU hopefuls.

Yes, Dru USU is my first choice dream school and the fact that I have gotten an interview offer from there takes a massive load of pressure off me.

I regret that my attempts to undo the damage I did in the past on these forums was once again mistaken for arrogant gloating. An analysis of my posts in the past 3 weeks will prove my intentions have only been to support my fellow USU applicants, but I just wanted to sincerely apologize for any misunderstandings.

I can't speak for the others but I was just joking. I am very sarcastic. If we end up being classmates you'll have to put up with that 🙂

Thanks to everyone who has been posting on this forum. I've been around SDN for about a year, but have not posted much. Now that I know that this thread exists, I'll hopefully have more to say. I've been in the AF for 11 years, and I just submitted my app a few weeks ago, now waitng to be verified by AMCAS. I guess it takes longer when you submit this late in the cycle and you have 12 years of coursework. USUHS is my first choice, mostly for financial reasons. It's tough to support a family on HPSP money! I went to DC a few weeks ago and we fell in love with the area. Anyways, good luck to everyone, and thanks again. The info you guys have provided on the timelines I'm sure will put me at ease over the next few months.

Are we all (well, almost all) still waiting to hear about interviews?? It's been 2 weeks since I got that complete email... sorry I'm whining and impatient 😉

Also, if we do NOT get an interview after our file is reviewed, will we be rejected right away or is there a "hold and re-review later" pile?? And not to be too much of a pessimist but a rejection would come in snail mail, right?

I have a feeling you are going to hear this week or next. I got the complete email 5 days ago so you definitely are ahead of me. I have no idea how the hold/re-review/reject process goes for this school.

Just got an interview invite this morning. Sent in my stuff on the 6th of July. Good luck to the rest of you guys I'm sure more are coming today. 🙂

I got an interview invite this morning too. So excited!! I received my secondary stuff at the beginning of July and sent it in on the 21, but my file wasn't complete up until a couple of weeks ago.

I got an interview too, for 9/17.

I am honestly so surprised and happy... I do NOT have the stats to make an interview at any school a guarantee... so this really takes some pressure off for this cycle.

Plus I am excited to learn even more about USUHS because it seems like an amazing opportunity.

I am sending everyone else my best... I hope to meet some of you in Sept or next fall :xf:

How much of a choice do you get in your interview date?

9/17 interview as well.

How much of a choice do you get in your interview date?

Sounds like you can send an email requesting to change your date. They say that absolutely no interviews will be arranged by phone.

They seem pretty flexible about interview dates if you need to move it back, but not really happy if you need to move it forward. They have a link in the interview e-mail that will take you to the available dates. All of them are on Thursday, though.
Good luck to everybody!

Congratulations everyone!!!!!! Soo my clinical rec didn't get sent until 7/28 but I got that same complete e-mail on 8/13... which seems to be a week after you all got yours? And it seems all those invites were e-mailed at the same time super early in the morning? Too much speculation? I want one for 9/24!! please please please

Congrats, thats awesome! I'm not feeling so bad about not hearing anything yet since youre hearing now 6 weeks later. When do you interview?

Thanks! I interview on the 9/17. I wouldn't sweat it. I'm sure your invite is coming.

Felicitations to dru, wooy grotto and scooter on their invites. Together we represent 1\8th of the first interviewing group, (and counting😀). SDN REPRESENT! The military needs gunners like us😀

Kleos and Delicate,

When did you submit your primary? My last hope is that they are going by that date because I was complete on the 20th of July, but my primary wasnt even sent out until the 13th of July.
I have yet to even get the official complete email...I guess my next question is how does USUHS send out rejections? Snail mail or email?

Delicate and I got the official complete email on aug 13th. If you haven't gotten the official complete email, I wouldn't worry about being rejected yet.

Yeah if you haven't gotten the official complete e-mail yet I wouldn't worry! Apparently that means that you're packet has gone out to the committee for review. So I don't think you have been reviewed yet. Maybe you could call and see where you are? Don't stress!

Yeah, the complete email means you are going to committee. Teacherman, you might want to give the admissions office a call and see if they are missing anything or have lost something. I sent my app to them on the 10 July but wasn't verified by AMCAS until about July 18th. I got the complete email on the 5th, I think. The reason I'm telling you this - I had a friend who was missing something last year and it held him up for a long time because he didn't communicate with them - make sure things like LOR's (especially clinical letters - they are very strict on this) are in the office. They are really nice in the office, but they aren't going to reach out to you if something is wrong.

Congrats to all, it seems like most of the people in our little group (and all the people lurking who do not post) have gotten in on the first few dates. Thinking tactically, this is good - remember that they get a lot of service academy applicants and it is in your favor to interview before them.

I sent my LORs the day I submitted AMCAS...the 24th of June I believe. I received the secondary before my AMCAS was even verified and began working on it. AMCAS verified on the 13th of July and my secondary was to them by the 20th. I emailed to make sure it got there and got an unofficial email saying everything made it on the 21st. In my panic I wrote them again yesterday and got another unofficial email saying "All of your supplemental materials and letters of recommendation have arrived, your file is complete."
So thats where I stand...hence my concern. I guess all I have to do now is wait.

That's really weird teacherman. What did you write in your email yesterday? Maybe your app was accidentally re-positioned with the later apps. I still would remain hopeful because you haven't had that official complete email.

I never got a complete e-mail, I just e-mailed them after I hadn't heard anything for a few weeks.

Hmm...then teacherman maybe should have asked if he had been reviewed yet. That would be the golden knowledge.

Hey all! I just want to put in a few words here - things to keep in mind. USUHS is a great school, for several reasons, but here's one specifically: They start interviews and their turn-around time is very good in comparison to other schools! Keep in mind that us MS1s having even started school yet (classes start Monday 8/24) - the past few weeks have been our in-processing and orientation, and yet they have the time to deal with us and deal with you. I realize at this point we don't have much to do with admissions, but some of the same people in admissions are doing other things that deal with us. Just keep that in mind when you're stressing about not hearing anything yet 😉

Also, if you're on the fence about military/USUHS I would suggest seeing the docummentary Fighting for Life. It's about military medicine and USUHS - they talk about the field exercises we do (what makes us different from civilian schools) and then move on to docs in the war zone and then move on to following one very strong woman who was injured and is going through recovery. It is an excellent movie and will either solidify your reason to apply to USUHS or turn you off completely 😳

In response to the talks a few pages ago about percentages of prior/non-prior. I can only speak for Navy, because I haven't gotten the chance to get to know too many AF and Army. There are about 60 MS1 Navy students - a little over 30 went to ODS (so for those of you good at math, about 50% came from NROTC, USNA, or the field). Those that go to ODS include prior-enlisted, so it's not completely non-priors, but I think there were only a hand full that were prior. Out of those that went to ODS, 6 were women.

Feel free to ask me questions - I'll try to keep up with this thread. I didn't even think to look at it until today, so I quickly scanned the past few pages, but if I remember I'll come back 😉 Keep in mind, that I am only a MS1 and haven't started school. But the interview process, and ODS were more recent for me, so I remember that well! 😳

I have looked for Fighting for Life in the past after a doc I work with recommended it, any idea where we can get a copy?

You can buy it for like $35 off the fighting for life web page (I just googled it).

It's available on Netflix to "Save" for the future, but they have no expected release date yet.

I just (as in 5 minutes ago) bought it. I figured I can watch it before my interview, and then if I get accepted it would be good for friends and family to watch so they could have some idea of what we'll be doing. If I don't get accepted I will pass it on to one of you who does!!

:luck:
