Hi! I'll be interviewing on Dec 3. Does anyone know when USUHS students have their final exams? I'm going to apply for a student host, but want to book a hotel room just in case no student signs up because of exams (it'll actually be the week before my finals). Thank you!

We (the MS1's) will have just had an exam on the 2nd of December. The MS2 class doesn't have an exam that week.

Haha the wiener dog is a great interview topic! They are seriously great dogs, but they definitely get protective. It really would be great if we both were classmates. Mine follows me around the house and barks at me when I'm on the phone or when she wants to be picked up. She always needs attention. My beagle, on the other hand, is more like a cat and posts up on a couch or high place. My family always had labs so it's kinda nice to have the small dog lifestyle for a change.

I actually just noticed a photo of our "brigade mascot" for the first time the other day in the student lounge area...a black and tan doxie with a camo jacket on

So I am trying to show some school pride and buy a USUHS T-shirt and bumper sticker but can't find one anywhere. Does anyone know where we can get some USUHS swag?

I think they made this shirt for you...too bad its not in Army green.

Just out of curiosity, is there anyone else out there who interviewed on 9/17 and is also still waiting on a decision??

Hey guys,

for those of us who interviewed 10/22 ... how long are we looking at of a wait nowadays to hear back?

I really enjoyed my day there.

Scooter, I'm still waiting to hear. Maybe this week for us, right?:xf:

Oh that's right you just got your LOA!! Sorry it's hard to keep everyone and their interview days straight.

Yep, and there are only 15-20 people with offers so I think there is still time for both of us to get a shot. Judging from past years, they are going to be giving out offers until April/May. There are a lot of weeks between now and May and it only takes one.

Now I know how you guys felt with a week before your "expected call" date. It's only Sunday and I'm going crazy. I can't imagine the roller coaster of a ride you 1st interview date people are experiencing. I'm traveling to my sister's college for halloween and it's going to be a sad ride down there if I don't get a call this week.

oh wow so i'm looking at more than a month for me... what a wait.

KC, this is the response time information that USUHS gave us. Don't know how long they will stick to this time frame, but so far they seem to be on schedule.

Response Times
Please use the following as a general guideline regarding response times from the Admissions Committee. These time frames will be lengthened if you are taking fall classes, took the MCAT anytime after June 2008, did not secure a Letter of Approval, or any other extenuating circumstance. If you interview in September, you should hear a response in approximately 4-6 weeks. If you interview in October/November, you should hear a response in 6-8 weeks. If you interview in December, you should hear a response in 8-10 weeks. If you interview in January or thereafter, your response will arrive in a minimum of 10 weeks.

Good luck.

Thanks for that; you just prevented numerous anxiety-filled posts from ME in the coming weeks/months... 👍

Hah even knowing that for me it would be 4-6 weeks didn't stop my anxiety-filled posts when nothing happened after 4 weeks!! 😉

The adherence to this time frame gets worse as time goes on. I interviewed last year in the first half of November and didn't hear from USUHS till late February I think. This varies though I just wanted to reinforce the point that there really isn't a point where you should start panicking about not having heard back.

Hey Everyone,

I have a question about the security forms. Is the form sf86, which was posted earlier in the thread, the correct form to fill out and bring to the interview?

Also, is anyone else interviewing this week?

when you guys respond to NaShieka Knight's email confirming your interview date, did you receive any replies?
i'm worried they dont have me down as confirmed :scared:

I did not get any personal emails from them, but I did get emails titled Interview Conformation Part I & II with general interview information.

I also sent an email to NaShieka Knight asking for a conformation, and I never got a personal reply.

It looks the same to me. I started filling out the one posted in the forum, because the security officer didn't email me the form until I called. Really nice guy.

But, yeah, I don't see any differences in the SF86, and I am also interviewing this week (Thursday). 🙂 Where are you flying in from? Are you prior service or civilian?

There is a slight difference. I think one question they split differently between the two. I don't think it is enough for them to care. They are just using these as a pre-screening the actual security clearance is computer based.

So the one USUHS is using is slightly outdated but here is the link.

http://www.nps.gov/goga/parkmgmt/upload/SF86.pdf

There is one that was updated in 2008 they are using the one from 1995.

Thanks for the info.

I am talking the red eye out of San Francisco Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. It is not exactly the easiest trip, but I am looking forward to it.

I am a civilian (though my research is being funded by the Department of Defense, if that counts for anything).

Sorry I didn't get to posting this earlier. The SF86 was updated in June 2008. USUHS is sending out the old version in their emails, though I'm not sure exactly why. The new version can be accessed at the following website: http://www.opm.gov/Forms/pdf_fill/sf86.pdf

There are a few minor changes including a couple that make your life easier. Here is a brief list of the changes.

-The new version only requires you to provide a persons who knew you for 3 years of residences (old version was 5 years)
-The new version requires 7 years of employment, but none before 18 (The old version requires you to go back to age 16)
-The section about spouses includes a new section to deal with "cohabitants"
- The mental health section includes an exception to reporting for counseling related to adjustment from combat experiences.
- The section dealing with police records includes an exception to reporting for traffic fines less than $300 that aren't associated with drugs or alcohol (The old version excepted fines less than $150)
- Several sections are more specific in questioning including foreign contacts, alcohol abuse history, financial delinquincy, hacking type activities and associations with paramilitary/militia groups

Since USUHS is still sending out the old version, they probably won't give you a hard time, but when you go to input your data into EQIP (the online database that actually starts the clearance investigation) you will be required to enter data corresponding to the new SF86. If anyone has any questions or concerns please let me know and I'll do my best to give you a good answer.

I got a reply from her that just said "confirmed" the day after I emailed her.

Then I got the interview confirmation parts 1 & 2 like 3 weeks later (a week before my interview).

Naw bud not me. I had to catch a train so couldn't go to the optional part. I do think we talked a couple times, you are one of the pilots? I was the only guy from the great state of MI (that I know of). Kleos and I talked after the interviews were done. He had just said something that made me think he was one of the guys from Utah but now I know. I got into MSU's MD school now so I'm starting to lean towards going there and doing HPSP if I don't get the call soon.

To the person asking about demographics, it was definitely mostly white male, but I saw ever race/gender demographic and I'm sure there were different religions.

Ruiner, that makes two of us. Where you from in MI? My parents live about 15 minutes from MSU. Too bad I changed my residency a few years ago, so I think I'm a long shot for MSU this year.

I talked to the USUHS security division this morning, and they confirmed that the correct version of the SF86 is the July 2008 revision. If you received your security information last week or anytime in the future, you should have the correct version attached. If you received your information before last week, you probably have the wrong version. It doesn't matter for USUHS purposes, but you will be updated to the new version prior to matriculation. If you haven't filled out your SF86 yet, here is a link to the new correct version.

Good luck.

DODMERB qualified. No I just need to graduate and I'm on my way.

I'm in the same situation. It's been awhile since my invite to interview on November 19 but I have yet to hear back with a confirmation or anything about the physicals or security. I've been reading this thread for a while and I thought it was about time that I join up and contribute. Congrats to everybody that has been accepted and good luck to those applying.

I'm from GR, went to MSU for undergrad. FL is not a bad choice for places to move residency too if thats where yours is....lots of schools at least.

Welcome Toketa, pombe and anyone else who is new to this discussion. The security emails seem to be hit or miss. I've received the email about 3 times, but others haven't gotten any. If you send me a private message with your email address, I can forward you the email.

As far as the interview confirmation goes, I received an email back the same day I accepted the interview date saying I was confirmed. If you have any doubts about your status, call the admissions office. I'm sure the admissions inbox is perpetually full of messages right now and we all know how easy it is to overlook an email.

Good luck to you.

Greetings to all the newbies on this thread!😀 Here's hoping you join our little family😀

Congrats on your interview invites, you really are in for a treat as Bethesda is supposed to be very beautiful this time of year and of course USUHS itself is da bomb da bomb😀

On a different note, does anyone know where we can buy USUHS bumper stickers? Teacherman was great with the link to those sweet shirts but nothing pimps one's ride like an awsome bumper sticker😀

Are you seriously SDNing on vacation in Hawaii?!!? 😉

like I should talk, I was repeatedly checking online for my MCAT score on my wedding day (in Hawaii)... it ended up being released the next day.

They dont seem like a swag kinda school...if you really must feed you need to put the USU logo all over then get one made...not sure about the legality but its probably not a problem as long as youre not selling them...

You should be careful with those bumper stickers. I read an article that said people with bumper stickers on their car are 75 percent more likely to be the recipient of road rage. 😀

I just got to Bethesda and it is beautiful. You do not get falls in California like you do here. I am really looking forward to seeing the campus tomorrow.

I interviewed on Oct. 1 at USUHS. My DODMERB has already come back approved, and I am in my senior year of undergraduate studies. I was wondering how long I can expect to hear back from USUHS and if they call or send letters out. Thanks!

Thanks teacherman, I will seriously consider using that service, though not the school logo.

I was thinking of something simple like:

USUHS: The Best Medical School You've Never Heard Of

And Scooter2, yes I am SDNing from Hawaii, its a great way to relax after finishing a 6 mile hike down to the floor of Wamea Canyon😀

As the saying goes: The 3 mile hike down is the easy part, the 3 mile hike back up is the fun part😀

Good luck to all still waiting for an interview or that magic acceptance call😀

I think they're guildeline for when you interviewed is 4-6 weeks, so anytime between now and 2 weeks from now. According to some past posts, they're informing at the beginning and middle of the month, so maybe next week, or the middle of November? There's really no hard and fast rule, it's pretty variable.

They call and send out a letter (well actually more than one), so you'll get a call and if accepted, you'll get the letter a couple of days later. Last year I got an acceptance letter from the admission people (dean or whoever it was) and then also one from the Navy company commander. I assume Army and AF do that too.

Silverhorse, what is the time line for hearing from USUHS once we are accepted? I mean in terms of any additional paperwork we need to do, such as finalizing our security clearance?

Is there a mountain of paperwork in store for those of us lucky enough to be accepted?

And what about recieving orders for reporting to OBC and commissioning? Would you mind letting us know when you recieved those last year?

XMSR--for stickers, call the bookstore, they have a whole bunch of them. they're only open around lunch time though. I'm somewhat partial to the t shirt with the cannon on it that says "our med school can beat up your med school"

You won't get orders and commissioning paperwork until within a month of OBLC (if that early)...I only received my orders and made my travel plans about 3 days before I had to report.

There is a TON of paperwork you have to go through...you have to sign a bunch of contracts and such...I'm not sure if they start distributing all of that this early in the cycle though (I got my accept much later, so I don't know if that all goes out at the same time to everyone or if it's associated with your accept date)

I was gonna say how awesome that shirt quote is, but I'd rather use this...

you won't hear anything for a long time. There is a mountain of paperwork from the army that will come your way sometime between DEC-FEB. You'll hear from your sponsor around FEB at the earliest. You probably won't get your orders until 2weeks before hand, if you're lucky.

so nobody has gotten any happy calls yet today?? I know they say 1st and 15th but since the 1st is a Sunday I was kinda hoping for today... who knows though.

GL to all!! :luck:
