THANKS!!! I'm so excited! After I took it I wasn't feeling very confident with the PS section.... I didn't score as high as I had wanted... only a 9... but my VR and BS were both 11! It makes me very happy! 😀

Only three people from this thread got accepted yesterday.... that's depressing 🙁

You could ask them but I heard somewhere that they don't let wait-list people defer... its worth a shot though

I am on the wait list at South. I am going to keep my app in though since it shouldn't hurt anyone and I am not 110% set on UAB yet.

I didn't check mine till the next day cause i'm at my parents without any sort of internet for miles :scared: but it says Accepted- BIrmingham campus which is good/what i wanted. And that is about it I believe until we get the official letter in the mail. Oh and I had to do the criminal background check.

can you give any indication as to why you are so confident they will make it to the lower third? i realize you probably don't want to reveal the identity of the person you spoke to, but if you could give us anything i'd appreciate it. i think most of us who are still waiting were thinking the wait list would've moved a lot further this week. just going off that, it seems unlikely that they will make it far into the lower tier, if at all. thank you.
 
Accepted on 5/18! Middle Third. Visited UAB and made the decision today... going to UAB!
 
I'm officially going to be freaking out/depressed if I still haven't heard anything after tomorrow.

A friend of mine didn't get in until July last year, so there is still much hope. A few years back another friend didn't get in until a few days prior to orientation. He had given up hope and was about to sign papers for the Army. Keep your chin up!
 
Just got my acceptance e-mail! My status on the UAB Web page already shows Huntsville campus assignment.

Once I get the snail mail acceptance and reserve my seat, I intend to drop my spot at South.

Yo, so the delay was probably because graduation was on the 16th and a lot of work goes into orchestrating that; especially when the US Surgeon General is the commencement speaker.

Aside from that, congrats to the new accepted folks!

Oh, and I can't remember who posted it but I don't think you can defer your acceptance if you are a waitlist accept. You might want to email Dr. Smith just to make sure though.

So we can't do anything official like the stuff on the matriculation check list until we get the snail mail and officially reserve our seat, right? Just making sure! Of course i did the background check stuff. Just wondering since June 15th is pretty soon and I still haven't received my letter.

I'm a little late to the party (sweet cancun vacation), but congratulations!! After reading through last year's thread and keeping up with this year's I was pulling for you. Good luck in Tuscaloosa....
 
I was looking over the pre matriculation checklist that has to be completed by June 15th, and I couldn't really figure out what we are supposed to do for the:

Dental Insurance
Learning Style Instruments
Medical Clearance
Web Reporting System for Medical Clearance


A lot of them just say "details pending" and none of the links are working.

Does anybody know about this?

Have you joined the facebook group? Some people seem to have an idea of whats going on with that stuff. I personally think UAB has done a bad job with it. I have no idea what I am supposed to do haha

Dental insurance: You can simply go to the School of Dentistry. Any charges there are added to your student account. You don't need an existing policy from an insurer.

Learning style instruments: We will receive an e-mail at some point regarding this information.

Medical clearance: you need a physical exam to show you meet the school's technical standards (http://main.uab.edu/uasom/2/show.asp?durki=21321; forms necessary for evaluation: http://main.uab.edu/Sites/students/student-health-services/48155/) as well as proof of immunization (http://www.iss.uab.edu/Pol/ImmunizItab.pdf)

Web Reporting System for Medical Clearance: I'm not 100%, but I believe this pertains to making sure you've set up an account with Student Health Services to report your medical clearance (above).

i am waitlisted at south...i will be leaving my application in for now...sorry i don't want to share all the details as to why

we have to be getting close to the third tier, which seems to be the same timeline as last year, except this year the wl is supposedly bigger

I think first third tier last year was early june?

I guess good news for all you second tier-ers!

I would think it's getting close to the third tier too. How much bigger do you think the waitlist is? That's not good.

I really don't think it would be that much bigger.

Maybe 10-15 people more per tier. That is of course just a wild guess.

The way I'm looking at it is that each person on SDN represents 3-4 people, so when 2 people have gotten in this week, I'd say that the wait list has probably moved 7-8 people, with another 7-8 people left till we get to 3rd tier. This is obviously a rough estimate, but I think it's probably close to accurate. This would mean that there are appx 35-40 people in each tier.
