I'm fairly sure that it is pretty difficult to get an interview as an OOS student but once you get one you have a great shot of acceptance. If you look on the website at facts and figures, you will see the figures for admissions for the past few years.

Last year, out of 2,261 applicants to UASOM, 1,829 were out of state. Out the the 1,829 applicants, only 153 got interviewed (a little over 8%) Now of those 153 interviewed, 87 were accepted (57%) and 25 matriculated. So if you get that small 8% chance of getting an interview, you have about a 50/50 shot of getting accepted.
Now for us in state peeps... of the 2,261 applicants, 432 were in state. Of the 432 who applied, 252 were interviewed (58%). A lot better odds for us instate hopefuls... Of those 252 interviewed, 188 were accepted (almost 75%!) and 150 matriculated.
So down to brass tax... From my basic 9th grade Algebra.... if you are OOS and submit a secondary, you have about a 4.5% chance of getting in with the interview as the big hurdle. For IS applicants, after your secondary is submitted, you have about 43.5% of getting in with the interview as a small hurdle.
Of course this is all just from the numbers from last year. The odds would of course change to 100% with a 45 MCAT and 4.0 GPA and a close to zero percent with the bare minimum MCAT and GPA for application. If you are a poker player like myself though, you like the IS odds! Good luck to every one.

Hope we all hear something this Friday!
