does uc davis have a second look weekend? if so, when is it? thanks!

Yes and they don't know yet. I called the admin office but that was a couple weeks ago. I assume that we will get an email when the schedule is hammered out...I would rather them focus on getting out decisions for our lovely comrades on here who have been waiting for months post-interview.

Woooo! I'm excited!

I've been trying to maintain some sort of composure since my interview...but I can't contain it anymore...Davis is my absolute #1 choice and I REALLY want to attend. There...I proclaimed it to a forum...so its official...haha.

It's the only school that FLOORED me during interview day!!!!! Other schools don't stand a chance.

But alas, the waiting and hoping continues. Just wanted to get it out there! Thanks everyone for posting about your med-apps adventures! You have no idea how helpful your comments have been!

Cheers!!!

Does Davis still send out interview invitations? Or is it all done with invites for this year?

Come on Davis, move faster. Can't wait any longer.

Hey guys, just withdrew my application from Davis. I was scheduled for an interview on 2/10/2010. So anyone that is still trying to book an interview on their screwy scheduling system might want to check ASAP and see if you can snag my slot.

Cheers and good luck to all of you!

i just called UC Davis today cuz i interviewed back in mid-Oct and haven't heard a peep. the admissions lady said it's normal for ppl who interviewed in Oct to still be waiting and that they have no timeline for acceptances (translation: get off the phone with me you crazy paranoid pre-med).

she also said they don't accept update letters.

there goes that idea! guess it's just back to more waiting.... :/

jeez twist, that's rough. 🙁

oyyy Davis adcom!! I want more classmates!! Hop to!!

Hey everyone! Does Davis have particular release days for acceptances/rejections/waitlist? I know they accept by phone and reject/waitlist by email... but just wondering if there are specific decision days. Thanks 🙂

Hi everyone, I hope you all will get your decisions soon. The wait must be suspenseful and somewhat frustrating.

I'm interviewing mid-Feb, and was wondering about the shuttle service? Do you guys recommend any particular ones?

Also at the end of the interview 3 PM, doesn't almost everyone need to get from the campus to SMF airport? So is there some way to do a collective group shuttle booking (save money too) instead of everyone booking a private shuttle?

Thanks greatly, and if you have any other tips!

There is a pretty easy bus that picks up right in front of the hospital and you can transfer to a bus that takes you right to the airport, it was pretty easy and I got there in about an hour. Beat spending $50 on a cab ride.

Great! Thanks, I'll look into it. I suppose bringing change would be a great idea.

Hey All,

I just checked my voicemail today and was told to call their admin back. Talked to Ed and....accepted! 🙂 I need to check my voicemails more often in the future....

Anyways. I was wondering if any of you other acceptees got the acceptance offer (via the acceptance tab on their website) with the wrong dates (referring to admittance for class of 2013)? Computer glitch? Should I report it?

Here's what it says now:
"I accept the offer of a place in the first year class extended to me by the University of California, Davis School of medicine. I understand that I am expected to have completed all admission requirements by June 30, 2009 and to have maintained a suitable level of academic and professional performance to be eligible for matriculation to the class of 2013."

Thanks for the help guys!

And for those of you interested...
I interviewed mid-Nov 🙂.

Never noticed that but my acceptance says the same thing. I doubt its even a big deal. Just a glitch id assume (though i didnt call).

Congrats!! 😀

And yes, my page also says class of 2013...strange, I didn't see that before. New accelerated program?? jk jk.

has anyone sent in an appeal and had it looked it or responded to? I know they say no appeals, but it never hurts, when you have substantial info to update them on since they rejected you.

has anyone received a financial aid package from Davis?

Thanks runningdiva! I too am curious, has anyone received their financial aid supplemental application yet? I assume its coming via snail mail? (I'm trying to do all my financial aid stuff for all the schools 😕).

Not yet. Weird thing, though. My credit report says some agency in Sacramento just ran my credit. Could mean some news is coming down the pike?

It is kind of funny to be so excited about major debt

I downloaded the forms from the financial aid website. I already sent it back via snail mail but the application portal said aid goes out in April. We have to wait a little while longer...

Hey dia what forms did you have to send in. As far as I knew it was just fafsa right or did I miss something.

Yeah, I'm a little confused too. Is there some sort of "supplemental" financial aid application? And where do we find it? I couldn't find it on their financial aid website...

It is a bit confusing. Once you get to the financial aid website select "Forms" from the financial aid drop down menu. Or you can you just click on this link: http://www.ucdmc.ucdavis.edu/medschool/financialaid/form.html.

Is true that all this has to be submitted by March 2?

Best of luck!

omg i didnt know all this was here...how did i miss that. I hope its not due march 2nd im screwed. Im kinda freaking out is that the due date? Also the verification worksheet we cant choose are we supposed to do that? I thought all we had to do was fafsa.....

Oh man...I am behind the ball on this financial aid stuff as well. In addition to the supplemental, does every student have to submit the parental certification sheet?

Nevermind...the website answered my question. I guess parental info is required for all.

yah but they had no due date...I guess since aid goes out starting april that early march would make sense for priority stuff. My parents live like 4 hours away from me this is not going to be a fun drive to get them to sign this crap so i can get it there by march.

Maybe you could just fax it to them instead?

asking my mom to do somethign with anything that involves technology is like asking a miracle of god haha....sad but true.

 My mom is the same way, but she is evolving since she got an iphone. I just sent my parents the pdf, and hopefully I can persuade them to fax it in. They seem pretty malleable after I got in somewhere.

i think some one might have already answered. but i sent in parental certification form, supplemental form, and then legal residency form.

yo - chill out - their website says that the deadline for CONTINUING students to turn in institutional forms is March 2nd; new students asap after admittance, but they don't set a firm date. I'd just give them a call

I think he/she's right.
Looking at the blue paper entitled "Financial Aid Info for the 2010 applicant" included in the folder they gave the interviewees, all it said was to file FAFSA by March 2, whether or not you're admitted yet. So I think all the supplemental forms can wait until you're admitted. Just my speculation

Sorry if this is totally obvious, but where did you find these forms? Were they in your packet from the interview or are they online? And if so, where? Thanks!
read post 978 (a few posts above.) theres a link already posted. Its on the ucd fin aid site

Hello. There hasn't been a lot of acceptance activity here for awhile. I have been meaning to post that I was accepted off of the waitlist last week, which was about 2 weeks after being put on it. Thought it might be welcome news to those waiting to hear. I took the waitlist news pretty hard, and was really happy to get the call. For those still waiting, there is definitely hope!

congrats !🙂.

Also just some fyi for everyone. I called the fin aid office and all those forms have no "specific" due date but I was told that they recommend them being sent in by mid march or so. And all of them are due

Hey everyone -

Just curious, are there still those out there who interviewed WAY back in the day and haven't heard a peep? I interviewed at the end of September, and haven't heard a word... I have called the admissions office a couple of times, but only to be quickly dismissed with "you'll know once they know, they're still meeting, etc." I'm just curious if anyone else is in the same boat...

I'm in the same boat....and it's killing me. I also called and was basically told the same thing.

I'm in the same boat, I interviewed pretty early and still haven't heard a thing. The last time I called was about a month ago and was told pretty much the same... 😕

yep, interviewed Nov 12.. and haven't heard anything! I was considering calling the office this week... but it sounds like that won't get me anywhere. Good luck to you guys and post when you hear something!

Thanks guys for replying - it's really nice to know I'm not the only one totally left in the dark by Davis. :luck: to everyone else still waiting!!

hi all-

does anyone know what the schedule is like for MS1s? Do we have class everyday? When do classes start in the morning and when do they end?

Thanks.

hey guys - stupid question: where'd you park for your interview?

http://www.ucdmc.ucdavis.edu/common/includes/shared/map/images/EdBldg06.jpg

I parked in one of the residential streets (Don't remember if it was 42nd, 45th, or 48th), but all are relatively close to the medical education building (about a 5-10 minute walk).

I think the best place to park is the parking structure next to the Ambulatory Care Center (ACC) building. I remember paying less than $5 for it but I at least wasnt worried about my car being towed or ticketed.

The structure is all the way down on the X street. Look for ACC building and the parking structure is adjacent to it.

Good luck on interview if you have not already interviewd.
