Ugh, I've been complete since 8/1 and my letters still aren't updated. I <3 you UCI, love me back!
should i be happy that i got a secondary from uci??? do they screen?? i dont know if i should be jumping up for joy but i dont want to get my hope up and get rejected! lets hope this doesnt end too soon.. +)
grats!!! this is my alma mater, ill be sad if they shun me lolinterview invite.
fit what you find most important. They just like to have a sorta summarized version of what you find most importantHey,
Does anybody know what kind of activities we can put for the school activities section for the secondary application? Does being in honors program, or working as a tutor, or taking a leadership class, or taking a religion class outside of school for the past 5 years count? Don't really know what I can fit in there...
Thanks.
Interview invite today also.
No secondary for me either. What is UCI's cuttoff for sending an interview? I'm from San Diego, and received a secondary from UCSD last week. UCSD is a higher ranked school. What gives? Do you think UCSD took my San Diego residency into account? I have not received any other UC secondaries. Should I still expect them? My AMCAS was certified June 10.wtf people are already getting invites and they still haven't sent me a secondary 😡

Rankings dont matter. UCI will reject those witha 4.0 and 42 mcat if they dont like them. They dont care as do most schools. Just because you get a UCSF or UCSD, it doesnt mean all the other UCs fall in line because they are "lesser" in your rank.No secondary for me either. What is UCI's cuttoff for sending an interview? They are not lesser in my rank. I'm going off of MSAR and US News. I would be thrilled to go to any UC. For that matter, I will be happy if I get into any American med school.Rankings dont matter. Does anyone know how long it takes for the letters of rec to appear on the status page? I submitted this secondary and sent my letters from AMCAS letter service more than a week ago, but my letters still haven't been received by UCI yet. Thanks for the help!
Same here with LORs/letters of rec
Submitted: 7/30
Received: 8/12
Turnaround time: 13 days
Also, do you guys know why all parts of my app is finished/received (fee, 2nd app, LORs), and yet my application isn't mark as complete?
The lady on the phone said there's an extra step they need to go through to mark my app as complete? What step?
Don't worry about that. They will mark the application complete after they have collected everything. It takes a couple of weeks. I guess after that point they start reviewing your application. Good luck.
Hi thank you for your response.
I'm not sure if you understand my question though. UCI has collected everything needed for my application (LORs, 2nd app, fee) and dated their receipt on the status check page. But then my app is still not marked as complete?? Why??
All the UC's screen.should i be happy that i got a secondary from uci??? do they screen?? i dont know if i should be jumping up for joy but i dont want to get my hope up and get rejected! lets hope this doesnt end too soon.. +)

well thats kinda the point of prime-lc its to go beyond just speaking spanish and knowing the latino community. They are looking for people who are seriously passionate and going to really attempt to reform that area of healthcare, just not practice i nit. Finally got this one in today... Kind of excited.
Anyone else look at the PRIME-LC? I liked the Latino emphasis (pretty much sums up my clinical experience), but wasn't too thrilled about the extra year to get a masters... I want to work with patients, dangit, not write policy!
...which I guess is why I didn't apply for it.
no worries they are not going to screen because of such a stpid reason. Calm down thats the last thing you worry about. They will look at you like any other undergrad who did not graduate from UCI.does anyone know how UCI will look at applicants that transferred from their undergrad to a different school? i have solid reasons for why i transferred, and i'm happy to say that none of those issues are present in the med school level (which is why UCI is one of my top choices), but im worried that i might get screened out out of vindictiveness. what do you guys think?
So UCI does not want you to use a single ( or [ in your secondary essay because it will mess up the formating. What would you recommend to indicate how you're going to abbreviate something? For example you could usually write Creighton University, School of Medicine (SOM), and you know school of medicine is going to be abbreviated from then on because you indicated it afterwards.

Should be fine? I called the dr peterson about a situaiton of mine and she told me to use () for something? I didnt think it meant dont use any at all...OMG! I read the directions but forgot: I used () once. Do you think I'm screwed?

actually wait i didnt use it in my secondary essays just my disadvantaged form...hope thats fine...i wish UCI would let u see youre 2ndary after submission.
I uunderstood it as () is ok just not only one (...but i could be wrong...in the end its fine, if theres a problem and they are interested, they will get back to you .Thanks. I think I misunderstood the directions and thought you can used () together but can't use solely one (. Whatever, hope it works out.
Wow, seriously? You are way too stressed my friend. Do you honestly believe this is going to matter to the adcoms? I'm sure if your app was good enough to receive a secondary that you will not be xed out due to a typing error.OMG! I read the directions but forgot: I used () once. Do you think I'm screwed?

ic. Hopefully a call to UCI admissions will sort that problem out.Well no, the concern is that the direction said using a ( will mess up the formatting of the application. So instead of a coherent essay the adcom will just see stars and chinese symbols and stamp the application "insta-reject"
if my one month deadline were the 25th, and i assign all my letters to uci through amcas on the 25th, is that considered meeting the deadline, even if they haven't uploaded it yet?? i know they take a week or two to upload it, but if they required it to be uploaded by the deadline then i won't make it because my last letter writer is putting on the finishing touches. do they want it uploaded by the deadline or just submitted to amcas by the deadline?
help! thank you!
I emailed them about this (I have a similar problem), and they said that they're a little lenient about the deadline at this point in the process.
If you wanted to be sure, though, you should call them.
samePending review.
