I'm unsure what the "Actually" is for, but that's what I was saying... They are taking OOS students, probably to boost diversity (in the form of # of undergrad schools represented). I guarantee that OSU could have had just as "qualified" and "intelligent" a class if they had taken more OH residents, but several in-staters, including myself, sort of got the shaft (to reiterate: probably for (non-racial) diversity).

I look forward to the day med schools and the society in general start looking for actual diversity rather than meaningless ones like appearance-diversity and location-diversity.

oh yah just email them a copy and they will apply it to your acct. Pretty easy.

Cinci I heard is not sending invites until september

Is Cincy sexist? How come they have soooo many more males than females?

i remember a while ago seeing a website/blog about the MMI interview at cincy and a list of the scenarios that were given to the interviewees that year. anyone know what i'm talking about/where i could find something like that?

Last year once I got invited for an interview they sent me a link to sample scenarios (however last year was the first year they did the MMI and I don't think they give out the actual scenarios they use). If you google "multiple mini interview" you get some good results. The first link that comes up has some really helpful scenarios to practice with:

53% female med students? Ugh... that's like 5 dateable attractive girls.

Probably less, a LOT of the girls in med school are already in serious relationships or are married.

How many hot girls do you know that are married compared to the um... not so attractive ones?

Got a Status Change Email yesterday. Invite for 10/16! I have to reschedule, but I'm so excited!

PS They only interview 2 days a month.

So... I am a first year at UC
ladies do not out number males it is close to even. It is true in past years there were ratios of 70% male and 30% female, but it is not because UC is sexist. The initial acceptance is normally close to 50/50 and the waitlist is close to 50/50. They have been finding that more girls turn them down than men so the reason why this year it is more even is because they included more women on the waitlist.

this year I think the ratio is 54% men to 46% female (stats are posted on the admissions website).

Also if anyone wants to more about the MMI you can either reply to this or send me a message. I cannot give you specific scenarios they have used or anything, but I can tell you how to do well. I check SDN once every two weeks or so.

Also I do not know if they have offered any interviews yet. I do know that I have not seen any prospective students.

if you want to know more about what life, classes, etc. are like at UC check out my blog. I am not allowed to post the link but if you search: "Chronicles of a Medical Student: How it all came apart and then" you will find my admissions story posting.

Also many people do not get in. If this is the case GET a MASTERS. I did a one year program at Tulane. It has given me a huge advantage over my classmates.

Good luck to you all and maybe I will be one of your tour guides at interview day.

haha what did you expect?

lol i just added this school and was complete friday...what all is there to do in cincinnati anyways?

There is tons to do.
Cincinnati has everything that you need in a city. Good bars, dance clubs, the auqarium, etc.
However I only go out two or three times a month, because I am huge nerd.
Also if you like the outdoors there are plenty of places to hike, climb and canoe, not to mention the ohio river for boating, water skiing, etc.

Its not too big and not too small.

Some of the bad stuff is the public transportation does not compare to that of chicago, boston, new york or any of those eastern cities.

Congrats that is a pretty early in the interview season for UC. I hope to be your tour guide

So I don't really like this question but I will answer.

Med students are not super models nor should they be. They are already wicked smart what else do you want.

There is a high percentage of girls who are married, engaged, or in serious relationships, but that is something that comes with getting older. The average age is around 24 or 25 most people have had a few years of marriage under their belt.

Congrats to you who have had interview invites. Can't wait to see you. You should feel very privileged UC only interviews about 600-700 students each year for a class size of 175 to 185. If you have any questions, especially about the MMI just let me know. I check this thread about once or twice a week

Interview invite! My home city showing me some love 🙂

anyone else kinda annoyed they kinda sneak a second secondary with their interview invite when you confirm the date?

I'm not annoyed with that so much as you can't actually confirm your interview until you complete that information.

Anywho, got an invite last week and had to reschedule it to 10/30. Perhaps I'll see some of you there!

I'm confused by this prompt:

Work or Other Experience
Outline your work experience by year and semester, including number of hours. If you were involved in any pursuit that took up a large amount of time (examples include, but are not limited to, athletics, orchestra, student government, etc.), outline it by year and semester, including number of hours. Do not include work or other activities stated on your AMCAS application.

Does this mean if I listed all my work or experience on AMCAS Activities section, that I don't need to type anything for this question? The question seemed awfully wordy and not to the point if that's the case.

Yep. They probably should've put that AMCAS thing at the beginning.

For people who get interviews later in the game, it's a nice opportunity for them to add anything that may not have made it on their AMCAS when they were filling it out over the summer. Also, at least you spend time on this knowing that you have an interview at the school as opposed to taking the time to answer the questions and then hoping something may come of it.

Think of all the other secondary essays you've had to write. Relatively, this is nothing. 😛

Hey man -- for an interview at this school -- I'll fill in 17 more tertiaries, if they want me to!! My MCAT's just a 33 not the 40s as some of you have!

Just a 33? Give yourself some more credit, man! That's a wonderful score.

Finally submitted my interview confirmation!

I got an interview with a very low GPA and a very high MCAT; it seems like they understand people in that situation more than other schools.

Thanks rockaction! I thought it was a great score, until I look at all these guys/gals with scores from 38 to 42!
Then I put my tail between my legs, sit in a dark corner & chew my nails, praying for an interview!

Just kidding.

I am pretty happy with my score. Thanks for the encouragment though 🙂
